Abstract

The importance of applying various approaches and strategies in learning science in schools is a matterwhich should be the concern of educators. Because the process of learning good science done in theclassroom teachers will produce good quality science learning for students are learners. Indication of a goodquality of learning is when students learn in active creative and not boring. This writing will discuss how toimplement an effective strategy of active learning creative and fun that can be used by teachers in schools.

Abstract

Physics of earth and space is one of the subject that learn about natural phenomena. Leraning activity that learn about nature require students to be able to think logically and critically about a phenomena. Therefore, learning models and learning tools are needed that support lecture activity that allow students to construct knowledge through experiments and gather various information. The fact found that the lectures of earth and space physics that are used today are still conventional. This does not support the improvement of student’s critical thinking skill. One solution that can be done is to develop lecture devices consisting of worksheets oriented to inquiry models and earth teaching aids which are implemented in lectures. The aim of this research is to obtain the effectivity value of the devices of earth and space physics lecture to improve the critical thinking skill of students. Data collection instrument is pretest and posttest before and after use the product. Data analysis technique use t-test correlates with product moment. The result of this research is the worksheet of earth and space physics oriented inquiry model is effective improve of student’s critical thinking skill with the value of the product moment is 60%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase the result of student’s learning through using LKS nonexperimen with dynamic of rotation main material. Subject of this research is all students class XI IPA SMAN 12 Pekanbaru period 2008/2009. This research is experimentaly with research plan The static groupRandomized control-group only design, class XI IPA 1 be class control teach by convensional and XI IPA 2be class experiment, which teach by using LKS non-experimen for main lesson dynamic of rotation. Theresult which observe is cognitive domain through essay test. The result of this research show that studentsachievement, learning completeness, and completeness of the purpose class learning higher than classcontrol. It support by signification test between two class, that is the result of physic learning students whichteach by using LKS non-experimen is higher than the result of students learning by using convensional. Itshow from score thitung > ttabel the result thitung = 6,580 than ttabel (76; 0.05) = 1,665.Keyword: student’s achievement, LKS Non-Eksperimen

Abstract

This research was intended to describe the students cognitive achievement result through applying problemposing method in physics learning for kinemathics by vector analyzing. The subject of this reseach wasstudents of class XI IPA 1 of MAN 1 Pekanbaru which consists of 32 students. The collecting instrument ofthis research was the achievement of cognitive test in the final of the lesson. Descriptive analysis was used inthis research to analyze the students achievement, lesson effectiveness, students learning exhaustiveness andcompleteness of lesson objectives in kinemathics through vector analyzing. The result of the data analysisshowed that the students absorptiveness average is 66,3% which was categorized as enough for thisresearch, the lesson effectiveness was categorized as less effective, students classical learning exhaustivenesswas 21,9 % which categorized not complete and the lesson objectives completeness was 60% whichcategorized not complete.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of conceptual understanding of physics of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 40 Pekanbaru on the topic of light and optical through learning with cognitive conflict approaches. The type of this research is quasi experiment with population of 172 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 40 Pekanbaru consisted of 4 classes. Two classes were selected to be a research sample based on normality and homogeneity tests on repetition of sound material to obtain experimental and control classes, each of 43 people. The data collected by giving the physics’ conceptual understanding test in Bloom's taxonomy in the form of two tier multiple choice with 14 items. This instrument consists of 7 indicators of conceptual understanding, namely: interpretation, modeling, classifying, summarizing, drawing inference, comparing, and explaining. The result of the research showed that the ability of studens’ concept understanding after the application of learning with cognitive conflict approach was in the good category. The average score of the students’ understanding of the physics concept on the experimental group was higer than the average score of the control group. it can be concluded that learning with cognitive conflict approach can improve conceptual understanding of physics of class VIII SMP Negeri 40 Pekanbaru student on the topic of light and optics.

Abstract

Andaliman has the Latin name Zanthoxylum acanthopodium and is a family of Rutaceae. Andaliman is a native spice from North Sumatra called the golden spicy from North Sumatra. Andaliman farmers in Parsoburan Village, Toba Samosir said that one of the problems in andaliman production is the number of Andaliman fruits that are still not effective, even most of the Andaliman fruit becomes rotten. The design of Andaliman perfume machine has been carried out which aims to increase the usefulness of Andaliman through the manufacture of andaliman perfume as well as to increase the economic value of Andaliman. The method used is by designing a perfume machine and making an official perfume machine, testing the machine and using a perfume machine. Making perfume machines and testing perfume machines was carried out at the UNIMED Mechanical Engineering Workshop and the implementation of machine use activities was carried out in Parsoburan, Toba Samosir Regency. The results obtained from the andaliman smoothing machine were processed as 2 kg of perfume in a single smoothing process, for the heating stage mixed with 300 mL ethanol and the results of the perfume ± 20 mL which will be mixed with alcohol according to the strong aroma made.

Abstract

This research aimed to design wave visualization based VBA on microsoft excel as a valid physics learning media for senior high school students of class XI. This research used Research and Development method with ADDIE type. The steps of the design of learning media of this wave visualization include Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. However, in this research the researchers only implement up to the development step, then conducted media validation using assessment instruments. The instrument used is validation sheets of the wave visualization learning media. assessment is done on three aspects, namely design aspect, learning content aspect, and pedagogic aspect assessed by validator. Validator consists of team experts and users. Expert validator is a lecturer of Physics Education University of Riau, while the user is a teachers from senior high school on pekanbaru. The validation score obtained for the design aspect of the experts and users is 3.62. The validation score on aspects of learning content from the experts and users is 3.60 and the validation score obtained on the pedagogic aspect of the experts and users  is 3.73. The validation results of  wave visualization based VBA on excel is in the  category very high for all aspects assessed, thus this media can be valid and feasible to be used as a valid physics learning media of students class XI in senior high school.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase of students' motivation in learning physics Madrasah Tsnawiyah(MTS) students. The subject matter chosen is sound and learning strategy used was talking stick modelscombined with cooperative learning. The research is a quasi-experimental study with a sample of 72 eighthgrade students of MTS Hasanah Pekanbaru, divided into experimental group and control group. Theinstrument used for data collection was a learning motivation’s questionnaire with indicators: attention,relevance, confidence and satisfaction. From the descriptive analysis, it is found out that the students'motivation in studying physics of experimental group is higher than the control group. Inferential analysisshowed that there was significant improvement of students' motivation in learning physics at the 90%confidence level.

Abstract

Physics learning for fluids can be done by practical methodes in orther the students really understand about the fluids concepts. One of the fluids learning that needs to be practice is about viscosity. Measuring instrument used to determine the viscosity of a liquid is a viscometer. This viscosity measuring instrument can measure the thickness of a fluids accurately and specifically in accordance with predetermined standards. Due to the importance of the amount of viscosity, it is necessary to know the measurement method easily, cheaply and thoroughly. One way that can be used is to use an alternative viscometer as a measure of fluids viscosity. The purpose of this research is to produce an alternative viscometer that can measure the viscosity of a fluids. The type of this research is research and development, namely developing and measuring with an alternative viscometer. This research results that the measurement with an alternative viscometer for several liquids with different viscosity, gets a value that is not much different from the standard viscosity measurement results. The conclusion of the results of this research is that an alternative viscometer can be used to determine the viscosity of a liquid.
