Abstract

This study examines the roots of Chinese capitalist business in Indonesia, which has expanded significantly over the past two decades through increased foreign direct investment (FDI) and bilateral trade. It highlights the historical, economic, and political factors shaping this dynamic, while analyzing the Indonesian government's role in managing the influx of Chinese investment using a qualitative-descriptive approach. The findings indicate that China’s economic involvement in Indonesia has deep historical roots, dating back to the colonial era, continuing through the post-independence period, and intensifying under China’s "Go Global" policy. Major infrastructure projects such as the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway illustrate Beijing’s broader geopolitical strategy. However, various challenges and controversies have emerged, particularly concerning environmental impacts, China's growing economic dominance, and Indonesia’s increasing dependency. These issues have sparked public debate and raised questions about the long-term sustainability of such economic ties. In response, the Indonesian government has taken measures to address these concerns by implementing stricter regulations, diversifying sources of foreign investment, and strengthening domestic capacity in key sectors. These efforts aim to ensure long-term benefits while safeguarding national economic sovereignty. This study offers valuable insights for policymakers, scholars, and the broader public on how to manage Indonesia’s economic relationship with China more strategically and sustainably, emphasizing the importance of balanced engagement and informed governance in an increasingly interconnected global economy.

Abstract

Energy is a very important resource in achieving social, economic and environmental goals for sustainable development and is a supporter of national economic activities. Energy use in Indonesia is increasing rapidly in line with economic growth and population growth. Two-thirds of the total national energy needs come from commercial energy and the rest comes from biomass which is used traditionally (non-commercially).Pikohydro is a hydroelectric power plant that has a power of under 5kW per unit. Picohydro usually has three main components, namely water (energy source), turbine and generator. Picohydro can be used as an alternative to oil-fueled diesel power plants which are not environmentally friendly and have relatively expensive operational costs. This system is designed by utilizing the flow of water flowing in the river using the on grid method because the current in the river tends to be stable if you don't use batteries because it is more economical. Apart from that the voltage is relatively unstable because the voltage that is converted to AC electricity tends to fluctuate, therefore To increase the voltage, use a DC to DC converter which is equipped with a PID system to stabilize the voltage. In this DC to DC converter, it is used to provide a DC output voltage that varies in size according to the demand on the load.

Promotion shows a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage, emphasizing the role of effective promotional efforts in increasing business competitiveness. While customer loyalty is significantly influenced by both marketing strategies and promotion, it does not significantly mediate the relationship between these two factors and competitive advantage. Abstract

The tax system is the main pillar of state financing as well as an instrument for creating social justice and sustainable economic development. This study aims to examine in depth the concept of tax subjects and objects in Income Tax (PPh) and Value Added Tax (PPN), and to compare the fundamental differences between the two in terms of regulation, implementation, and contribution to state revenue. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through literature study and content analysis, this study synthesizes data from laws and regulations, scientific journals, and official institutional reports. The results of the study show that PPh focuses on income received by individuals or corporate entities, while VAT is imposed on the consumption of goods and services without distinguishing between consumers. The PPh collection system is direct, while VAT is indirect through business actors. Although it adheres to the principle of self-assessment, the implementation of the tax system still faces challenges in the form of low tax literacy and voluntary compliance. In addition, the development of the digital economy, cross-border transactions, and tax avoidance practices require regulatory adaptation and strengthening of supervision. This study emphasizes the importance of synchronizing tax theory, fiscal policy, and administrative capacity to respond to global dynamics. The main contribution lies in the development of a subject- and object-based tax analysis framework and policy implications for the government, academics, and business actors in designing a fair, efficient, and sustainable taxation system.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the principal in improving the performance of teachers and educational staff at SMA Negeri 1 Bengkulu Selatan. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving six key informants, including the principal, administrative staff, teachers, school committee, and student representatives. The findings indicate that the principal exercised leadership through five performance improvement strategies as outlined by Schuler and Jackson, namely positive reinforcement, performance audits, performance standards, feedback mechanisms, and recognition of achievement. The principal's role extended beyond administrative functions to reflect a transformational leadership style that fostered a collaborative, disciplined, and quality-oriented work culture. Nonetheless, challenges such as low participation in training programs and weak discipline among some educators were identified. These findings highlight the need to strengthen internal coaching systems and promote more participatory governance strategies within the school.
