Abstract

Media are considered very important to meet the objectives to be achieved during the teaching and learning process. Media are used so that the students can enthusiastically participate in the learning process. However, due to the situation during this pandemic, all teaching and learning activities were carried out online. This research aims to determine students' interest in participating in the online way when given learning videos. This study used a pre-experimental quantitative method with one group pre-test post-test design. The results of this study have shown that there was an increase in the learning process when using learning videos. After giving the treatment, students eagerly want to know and were highly motivated in taking part in the learning process. Besidesm they were not bored when doing assignments given by the teacher. The increase in student learning that occurs is included in the moderate category, namely 0.42 based on the results of the normalized gain test (N-Gain). Based on the data analysis using a Gain test, the result is 0.41. The second class experienced an increase in participating in learning activities when given a learning video in the medium category. It is also said to be in the medium category because 0.7 g ≥ 0.3.  the, from the result of the questionnaire regarding the use of interesting and educational learning videos, the parents and students agreed to use instructional videos. It is because by using learning videos of sufficient time, students easily understand the material taught by the teacher. The conclusion obtained is that the application of using interesting instructional videos can increase children's interest in taking lessons during online learning. Keywords: Learning Media, Audio Visual Aid, Online Classes

Abstract

In developing the disaster victim evacuation (DVE) model, we started with exploratory study is needed to identify the related variables. The exploratory studies are in the form of qualitative and quantitative research. In this qualitative study conducted agent-based in the nursing perspective. To conduct this research, guidelines are needed that are in accordance with the actual situation, such as the global COVID-19 pandemic. Although many articles have been published regarding in-depth interview (II) and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) guidelines, all of them have to be readjusted according to the situation. This adjustment is important to do minimize problems that arise in the data collection process, such as the emergence of new clusters during pandemic of the Covid 19. This study aims to provide a detailed standard in the implementation of the data collection process using the II & FGD method for the DVE Model development and in accordance with pandemic conditions. This literature review study begins with article search and identification of scientific articles. Before the scientific articles are synthesized, a variable identification process is carried out through 2 stages, namely identification to sort articles according to variables and article selection for research main reference needs and references for discussion.. The results of this study are in the form of qualitative research guidelines presented in the form of standard data collection methods using II & FGD. In this article, we recommend aligning the II & FGD guidelines with the development of information technology in exploring Agent-based information. Keywords: In-depth Interview, FGD, disaster & Model

Abstract

The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research. Difficulties experienced by some students in learning social studies can be listed as difficulties in understanding lessons, inadequateconcentration in studying, insufficient encouragement, lack of sense of need in learning, difficulties inremembering subject materials, insufficient student’s attention in learning activities, absence of the useof storytelling model learning to improve public speaking, and the low learning outcomes in socialstudies subjects. The storytelling learning model is believed to be able to improve student’s publicspeaking ability. The subjects in this study were students of class IX in the 2019/2020 school year atSMPN 1 Peusangan. Based on the results, it can be seen that there is an increase in the students' publicspeaking ability after the implementation of the story-telling learning model. The results show that theaverage value of individual mastery increased from cycle I to cycle II. In the first cycle, the averageindividual mastery value is 73% (16 students), while 27% (6 students) did not reach mastery levelrequirement. In the second cycle, there was an increase in individual mastery; all of 22 students reachedthe mastery level requirement. Based on the increase in individual and classical mastery values, theapplication of the story-telling learning model contributes to improve student’s public speaking ability.Since the mastery values are 90%, the study was only carried out until the second cycle. Based on theresults, it can be concluded that there were positive changes which were marked by the presence ofmany students who were happy and interested in following the story-telling strategy. The percentage ofstudents' positive responses to public speaking was 95,46 %. Meanwhile, the average negative responseof students was 4.54%. This shows that the story-telling learning model is in demand by students. Keywords: Public Speaking, Storytelling Learning Model

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are the central places for Islamic education in Indonesia. The schools have been producing Islamic leaders from time to time. Besides, they actively make an innovation so they will not be left behind. Parents sending their children into Islamic boarding schools generally expect that their children will be knowledgeable Muslim leaders in the future. However, there are factors that prevent some children from staying longer at the boarding schools. This research is a literature study with documentation research methods since the data were obtained in the form of writing, words, pictures, photos with the type of literature study by collecting, reviewing and analyzing data, documents or works related to the object of research. It was found that strict rules are among the main reasons. The students admitted that they were not mentally strong to face the rules. Other factors were loss, truancy, violence, and homosexuality. Thus, it is suggested that Islamic boarding schools should adopt the mental health perspective into their teaching and address the aforementioned issues, allowing the students to feel comfortable and be willing to stay longer at the school. Abstract

This paper is a small part of my thesis aiming to investigate the translation strategies applied by a translator in translating the taboo word “sh*t”. Taboo words are one of the language featuresrequiring a careful analysis as their message is generally different from their literal meaning. This isa descriptive translation study (DTS) using a book entitled “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck”(2016) as ST and its Indonesia translation as TT. The data selected were the taboo word “sh*t” andits derivation (shit/shitty/bullshit/bullshitty/shithead/shitheap/ batshit/shit-ton). The data wereanalyzed qualitatively by grouping them based on their functions. Then, ST and TT were compared toexamine the translation strategies applied by the translator. The theory used was McEnery (2006) toexplore the taboo word functions and that of Newmark (1988), Baker (2011) and Davoodi (2009) to examine the translation strategies. The results show that the word “sh*t” functions as a predicative negative adjective, emphatic intensifier, idioms, literal, imagery, and pronominal form. The strategiesmostly applied in a predicative negative adjective, emphatic intensifier, idioms, imagery, andpronominal functions is the paraphrase strategy. Meanwhile, the strategies applied in the literalfunction are omission and taboo to taboo. This research reveals that the translator attempted to avoidthe occurrence of the taboo word “sh*t” and its derivation in his translation by mostly applying theparaphrase strategy. Future research is suggested to explore the translator’s motives behind thestrategy selection. Keywords: taboo word sh*t, taboo word function, translation strategies.

Abstract

Assessment is recognized as significant in the world of education. The field of assessment is seen as one of the most difficult areas to reform due to the various challenges faced by teachers and students during the process of learning. Changes to digital technology in teaching and learning activities have influenced the assessment process in all educational institutions. Current assessment method that is mainly summative is often described as outdated compared to the development of the current world of education which focuses on outcome-based education (OBE). In general, the development of digital technology has changed the implementation of teaching and learning activities which also involves learning assessment. New technologies and tools have long been seen as a new possibility for assessment due to their features or capabilities that are potentially beneficial as they offer a more holistic, immediate and engaging assessment experience. Nevertheless, past studies have concluded that the use of digital technology is not yet ‘transformative’ due to its limited innovation and because its use is still linked to traditional assessment methods. In general, this paper will address the digital technology in teaching practice and the assessment of learning. Keywords: Digitalization, Learning, Assessment, Formative, Summative

Abstract

Umbilical cord is a connective tissue that connects the placenta and fetus. It is the lifeline for a fetus in the womb because it supplies nutrients and oxygen to the fetus for 9 months and 10 days. The rest of the umbilical cord attached to the baby's stomach (umbilical stump) will usually dry up and fall off on its own within 1-3 weeks although some may come off after 4 weeks. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the ways umbilical cord is cared and the time of umbilical cord detachment among infants at the Pidie Public Health Center, Pidie District. The research samples were women with babies in the working area of the Pidie Public Health Center, totaling 32 people. This study is descriptive in nature. It used a cross sectional design to find out the relationship between umbilical cord care and the time of umbilical cord detachment in infants. The findings revealed that 53.1% (17 respondents) found the umbilical cord detachment in infants was fast, and 62.5% (20 respondents) found the umbilical cord care in infants was relatively fast. The data on the relationship between umbilical cord separation and umbilical cord care in infants were obtained from 20 respondents with good umbilical cord care. It is expected that all mothers in the working area of the Pidie Public Health Center can gain updated information on umbilical cord care because it can accelerate the removal of the umbilical cord on infants.
