Abstract

Tourism is a universal industry because every modern human considers that vacation is a need that must be fulfilled. In the digital era, there is a generation born and raised in technological developments called digital natives; this generation is considered a vital role holder in the tourism industry because, in the next few years, the digital native era will enter a productive age and do many things while on vacation. In their daily life, digital natives cannot be separated from social media and smartphones. This is a motivation to be able to develop a tourist village through the role of digital natives. This study has several objectives to achieve, namely to find out electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) on Instagram carried out by digital natives to determine destination awareness of tourist villages in West Java, as well as to examine the influence between e-WOM and destination awareness. This study uses quantitative methods through a descriptive verification approach with bivariate correlation analysis and simple linear regression. This study found the effect of electronic word-of-mouth on Instagram on destination awareness of West Java tourist villages, which was positive and significant, with a coefficient of determination of 22.3% and 77.7% influenced by other factors.

Abstract

For years Bandung could attract some tourists to visit. However, Covid-19 has crushed the tourism sector in the world, including Bandung City. Covid-19 changes behavior and visit intention to destination. According to a new situation, this research examines tourism motivation in visiting Bandung City through the influence of tourist attraction and destination image. This research was conducted in quantitative analysis, which collected data by distributing questionnaires to 114 respondents from random sampling. The sampling technique used was quota sampling where the number of the population was unknown and also the sample selection was not chosen at random but there were defined characteristics, namely that they were domestic tourists who had traveled to Bandung City. The analysis of this research uses Multiple Linear Regression. The results of this study can see tourist attractions that can attract foreign tourists, know the image of destinations from the city of Bandung, and prove that the variables of tourist attraction and image of destinations do not really affect the motivation of tourists who come to the city of Bandung.

Abstract

Web-GIS in the tourism sector can be done using website technology, namely by visualization based on tourism spatial attributes that display polygon-based patterns and points of tourist attraction locations to combat overtourism in tourist attractions. With the development of geospatial technology, tourists' distribution and travel patterns can be visualized by collecting data on tourist visits to tourist attractions and their routes. With the YWDM method, this web-gis was developed using the YWDM methodology with several phases according to the methods used. This application uses an open-source programming language, namely Javascript, and uses JSON as an upstream geodatabase. The results show that Web-GIS visualization of the distribution and travel patterns can make it easier to monitor the density of a tourist attraction. It is well developed in providing more accurate information on the distribution and density of tourist attractions. With the YWDM methodology, visualization can be done like the software development stage and equipped with steps in need for spatial data management.

Abstract

Participation of local communities is a criterion that is often agreed upon as an important condition for the development and sustainability of all forms of tourism. Local employment becomes one form of recruitment that tourist attractions often carry out. However, increasing local participation in tourism often creates friction between tourist attractions and residents. This research aims to explore local participation in The Lodge Maribaya, one of the popular tourist attractions in Bandung West Java, by investigating factors influencing the community's support for local employment in the area. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire from 59 employees who are locals in the area. The confirmatory factor analysis was utilized to test the construct validity and reliability of the model. At the same time, Partial Least Squares (PLS) modeling was employed to assess the relationship among the variables. This study has found that community attachment and perceived benefits play an important role in the community's support in The Lodge Maribaya in terms of their participation in local employment. The strong community attachments and the considerable benefits perceived by the community are cogitated to be the main factors in The Lodge Maribaya's success in employing local workers. By investigating this perspective, this study is expected to provide insights on how to increase local participation in employment and anticipate the aspect that may hinder the process

Abstract

Tourism is one of the sectors that has been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The decline in the number of domestic and foreign tourists has an impact on the country's economy. Therefore, this study aims to test the theory of Goal Directed Behavior in predicting the intention to visit local tourists during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a quantitative approach and uses a purposive sampling strategy to obtain data through the distribution of online surveys. There were 209 respondents who met domestic travel requirements in the past year. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is used as an analytical tool in testing research hypotheses. The results of the analysis showed that the relationship between attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, positive anticipated emotions, negative anticipated emotions, was mediated by desire towards intention.

Abstract

Every activity at a tourist attraction will have risks. This is no exception for special interest tourism, which has a higher risk than other tourism activities. From the perspective of tourists, they tend to avoid destinations with high potential risks, which also affects their decisions. Cikawari Waterfall is one of the natural tourist attractions in the West Bandung Regency area. Planning for tourism activities at these attractions requires further assessment of the planned provision of special interest activities and facilities (rafting). This study aims to determine the feasibility of the special interest tourism plan by considering the safety risks in tourist attractions and the interest of tourists in visiting. This study uses mixed research methods (qualitative and quantitative) with a purposive sampling technique. This study involved interviews with three key tourism managers and a survey of 118 tourists who visited Cikawari Waterfall. The results showed that tourists consider the risk aspect when visiting. The qualitative and quantitative studies also show that Cikawari Waterfall is considered safe enough against the risk of accidents to visit because there are not many rocks, and the current is not too heavy. The location is easily accessible, so tourists are highly interested in visiting Cikawari Waterfall. In addition, the coordination built in the application of crisis management by the two managers strengthens the position of Cikawari Waterfall to be visited so that tourists do not need to feel anxious when visiting.

Abstract

Sangiran Tourism Village or Krikilan Village is one of the tourist villages that has unique geology, being part of the Sangiran Cultural Conservation area which has been designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage. Therefore, tourism development in Sangiran Tourism Village should not be carried out arbitrarily and planning is needed through the development of appropriate tourism products. This study uses a descriptive method and a qualitative approach to find out the actual situation and phenomena. The results obtained from this study are the actual conditions of tourism products in the Sangiran Tourism Village where tourism in the Sangiran Tourism Village currently only utilizes the actual attraction in the form of the Sangiran Ancient Human Museum. The potential possessed by the Sangiran Tourism Village is the natural potential in the form of geological conditions, landscapes, and rural life that are still maintained. Some of the suggestions made are the use of potential tourist attractions, the preparation of tour packages, and the preparation of a code of ethics for tourism development.

Abstract

Sustainable development must embrace the three basic principles of ecological sustainability, social and cultural sustainability, and economic sustainability for both present and future generations. The community must participate in the implementation of tourism in their area, because this involves economic, social and cultural issues of the community as well as the conservation of the nature in which they live. One of the concepts of sustainable tourism development that is oriented towards community empowerment is Community Based Tourism (CBT) which is a critical idea from conventional tourism development which often ignores rights and does not involve the community in the process. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through the stages of observation, interviews and focus group discussions and documentation. Research activities consist of preliminary studies, conceptual modeling, validation and revision, and model testing. Data analysis uses an interactive analytical model from Miles and Huberman which allows data analysis when researchers are in the field or after returning from the field. This research resulted in a development concept based on community empowerment through three stages of development: (1) tourism destination development program, (2) tourism marketing development program, (3) partnership development program.

Abstract

This study provides insights into the numerous storytelling techniques tour guides offer to provide visitors with memorable experiences. The study employs an autoethnographic methodology centered on the researchers' extensive background as tourist sector practitioners. The researcher identifies three fundamental tourism storytelling techniques: places, people, and objects. The use of sensory experiences that create a realistic view of a location, strong emotional connections with well-known personalities, the sharing of cultural insights, contrasting and comparing cultures at various locations, highlighting hidden gems, and the use of symbolism or themes to describe a location are all examples of techniques for telling stories about places. Using person-centered storytelling, tour guides can create engrossing narratives by focusing on the character's traits, abilities, and weaknesses, as well as personal tales and journeys. These techniques result in a more authentic and gripping narrative experience. The final approach involves discussing products or physical objects. Guides can narrate the origin and evolution of a product, its cultural significance, future use and potential advancements. This approach provides visitors with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the products unique to the destination. This study contributes to a better understanding of how tour guides can leverage storytelling techniques to enhance visitor experiences and offers practical insights for professional tour guides to improve their narrative delivery.
