Abstract

This study examines the influence of Electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM) on purchase decisions at The Jungle Waterpark Bogor. Stemming from a decline in visits due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this study employs a quantitative method with a survey approach. Data was collected through questionnaires from 150 respondents who are potential visitors or have previously visited the waterpark. The multiple linear regression analysis results with T-test and F-test indicate that eWOM significantly influences purchase decisions (significance value = 0.000). Nevertheless, specific dimensions of eWOM, such as platform assistance, social benefit, and advice-seeking, do not influence purchase decisions. This study provides valuable insights for digital marketing efforts and promotions addressing the pandemic's impact on the tourism industry.

Abstract

Cikakak Village, located in Banyumas Regency, Central Java, is a notable pilgrimage tourism destination. The village features the Saka Tunggal Mosque, established in 1222 AD, a pivotal site for spreading Islam in Central Java. Adjacent to the mosque is the Tomb of Kyai Toleh, an influential Islamic figure. This site is particularly significant for Kejawen adherents, who integrate Islamic practices with Hindu traditions. This study identifies the motivations of tourists visiting Cikakak Village, categorizing them into five levels: Nirvana Level, for those seeking spiritual transcendence; Transitional Level, for those praying for safety while still engaged in worldly matters; Worldly Level, for individuals with materialistic goals like career and wealth; Ancestry Pilgrim Tourists, who honour their ancestors on specific days; and Heritage Pilgrim Tourists, who are interested in the mosque’s unique history and architecture. Using a qualitative, descriptive research method, data were collected through interviews with mosque and tomb caretakers and community leaders. Direct interviews with tourists were impossible due to their secretive nature; thus, caretakers provided the necessary insights. The study aims to understand the typologies of pilgrim tourists, offering insights to enhance the services and products provided by the local community to accommodate these visitors better.

Abstract

Dago Dreampark, a famous tourist destination in Bandung that has been operating for 7 years, has experienced positive or negative changes over time. These changes are evident in the decline and inconsistency of services in the past year, leading to complaints from tourists. To address this situation, a specific customer service SOP has been created for the cashier and operator divisions, which directly interact with customers. The Human Resources Department (HRD) plays a crucial role in addressing this issue through evaluation and training provided to employees in implementing the SOP. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the new SOP at Dago Dreampark using a qualitative descriptive analysis method. The results of this research show significant positive impacts, with an average score of 4 on the questionnaire. Interviews with supporting staff and the General Manager reveal positive changes in appearance, handling of complaints, and improved service quality. Additionally, observations demonstrate positive changes in the implementation of SOP, communication with visitors, and coordination among employees. Despite encountering some obstacles, such as hairstyle discrepancies and the use of identification tags, it is expected that these issues can be resolved over time. This research provides an understanding of the success of the new SOP implementation at Dago Dreampark.

Abstract

The image of a destination significantly impacts tourists' experiences and intentions, particularly in the hospitality and tourism industry. This study examines how the image of Dusun Bambu Ecolodge influences tourists' intention to engage in staycations. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 105 respondents who had experienced a staycation at the ecolodge. The analysis employed descriptive and verification statistical techniques, including simple linear regression. The findings reveal that image positively and significantly influences staycation intention, with a correlation coefficient of 0.662 and a determination coefficient of 41%. This indicates that the image variable can explain 41% of the variation in staycation intention, while other factors influence the rest. These results underscore the importance of maintaining and enhancing a positive image to boost staycation intentions. The study highlights practical strategies, including optimizing digital marketing and leveraging social media to promote engaging content and positive visitor experiences. This research contributes to understanding how destination image drives tourist behaviour, offering valuable insights for ecolodge operators and stakeholders in the sustainable tourism sector.

Abstract

Tri Hita Karana (THK), a core Balinese philosophy emphasizing harmony between religious, human, and environmental values, is a guiding principle in tourism development and environmental communication. This study analyzed the effectiveness of environmental communication practices rooted in THK at Melasti Beach. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data collection methods included observation, document analysis, and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders such as the customary leader of Ungasan Village, Melasti Beach managers, local community members, and tourists. Data triangulation was used to validate findings and ensure reliability. The research findings reveal that environmental communication based on THK principles has effectively fostered pro-environmental behaviors among stakeholders. By integrating spiritual reverence, social cohesion, and ecological care, implementing THK-oriented communication strategies at Melasti Beach has preserved the natural environment and strengthened community engagement and cultural integrity. This study underscores the potential of local wisdom like THK to inspire sustainable tourism practices and environmental stewardship in Bali and beyond.
