Abstract

Tuberculosis is one of the top 10 infectious diseases that cause death worldwide and causes more deaths than HIV/AIDS annually. Several things support the success of treatment, considering that the duration of tuberculosis treatment is at least six months, one of which is family support. Therefore, is is necessary to determine the family’s experience treating tuberculosis patients. This research aims to determine the experience of family members in treating tuberculosis patients in the Puskesmas Dumbaya Bulan Working Area. This research employs qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. This approach is used to understand individual life experiences toward life goals with data focused on the experience of being involved with family members in treating tuberculosis patients. There are six participants involved and are determined trought data saturation. The results indicate five themes: family knowledge about tuberculosis, family experience in treating tuberculosis patients in the early stages, history of previous experience in treating tuberculosis patients, support while the patients is on tuberculosis treatment, and the risk of treatment failure, and family expectations. The results are expected to provide information about the family’s experience in treating patients to be developed for further research.

Abstract

The birth of the fetus, placenta, and membranes from the uterus through the birth canal is a labor process caused by uterine contractions, the effect of cervical dilatation (opening or thinning) of the cervix, and descent of the fetal head. The intensity of the pain depends on the strength of the contraction and the pressure that arises during the contraction. When the pain cannot be overcome, labor will last a long time and will cause many indications that endanger the lives of the mother and fetus. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of complementary therapy with the Rebozo technique on reducing the intensity of labor pain during the first active phase. This research used a quasi- experiment with a pre and post test one group control design with a sample size of 30 respondents. Data was collected through observation sheets which were then analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results of this study obtained a significant value of 0.000 < significant result of 5% (p-value = 0.000-0.05) so it can be concluded that H1 is accepted, which means there is an influence of the use of complementary therapy using the rebozo technique on reducing the level of labor pain in the first stage of the active phase.

Abstract

The Sterilizer Station at PT X Nagan Raya is a company facility that requires regular maintenance by the maintenance department to ensure its smooth operation. This facility has potential hazards that need to be analyzed in detail. This study aims to evaluate each potential hazard associated with the maintenance department's work programs at the Sterilizer Station using the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method, where these potential hazards will be evaluated for the associated risk levels, namely low risk, medium risk, high risk, and extreme risk. The research approach used is qualitative with a descriptive design. Data was collected from the maintenance department's work program for the July-December 2023 period at the Sterilizer Station through direct observation and interviews using the JSA form. The informants in this study were 6 informants consisting of maintenance employees, maintenance assistants, HSE officers and Assistant Mill Managers. The results of this study state that there are several potential hazards that can occur during the implementation of the maintenance department work program, such as the danger of falling on work equipment, slipping, electric shock, exposed to sparks, exposed to mesingerinda, iron cutters and electric welding machines. Based on the JSA analysis, several risk control measures are suggested, such as the use of appropriate and correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), routine maintenance of equipment, monitoring of the work program.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS causes health problems in the world, resulting in death. HIV/AIDS sufferers require long-term treatment from health services. Nursing students are part of health services. This research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The sample was determined using a total sampling technique and obtained 230 respondents. Data collection used the HIV Knowledge Questionnaire 45 (HIV-KQ-45). Data were analyzed univariately to see the frequency distribution of the research variables. The data was analyzed univariately to observe the frequency distribution of the research variables. The research results showed that most nursing students' knowledge about HIV/AIDS was in the sufficient category (66.5%) and the least in the good category (14.8%). From the results obtained, it was concluded that the majority of nursing students' knowledge about HIV/AIDS was in the sufficient category and the minority was in the good category. This shows that students' knowledge about HIV/AIDS is still inadequate. It is necessary to prepare prospective nurses starting during education to avoid a lack of knowledge in the hope of improving services to HIV/AIDS sufferers as much as possible in the future.

Abstract

Indonesia has made efforts to control tuberculosis but the results have not shown significant changes. The Directly Observed Treatment Shortcourse (DOTS) strategy has been implemented by the government for decades, but the number of sufferers remains high. The DOTS strategy has not been able to overcome the factorsthat cause tuberculosis because each region has different causal factors, therefore it is important to know what factors most influence the incidence of tuberculosis in Makassar. This research is a quantitative study with a crosssectional study design. The research was carried out in the working area of the Makassar Rappokalling Community Health Center. The population is tuberculosis patients who are undergoing treatment. The total sample was 109 respondents. Of the 109 respondents, 88 (80.7%) had a history of contact with tuberculosis sufferers, 85 (78.0%) had poor nutritional status, 81 (4.3%) had poor behavior in preventing transmission, 59 (54.1%) lacked knowledge. %), lack of family support 79 (72.5%) and feel high levels of societal stigma 91 (83.5%). The results of the KMO analysis are >0.50, which means that the factors that influence the incidence of tuberculosis cases are, sequentially, nutritional status (0.0795), history of contact with sufferers (0.776), behavior to prevent transmission (0.763), knowledge (0.726), public stigma (0.678) and family support (0.639). Factors such as nutritional status, history of contact with sufferers, behavior to prevent transmission, knowledge, community stigma and family support are factors that cause the incidence of tuberculosis and can be the cause of the increase in the number of tuberculosis cases in Makassar.

Abstract

Laboratories are among the units most vulnerable to work-related accidents and occupational diseases. Despite this, adherence to the use of PPE (personal protective equipment ) in laboratories remains very low. This study aims to investigate the factors influencing PPE "Adherence to regulations among laboratory personnel" in Palopo City in 2024. “A quantitative research method with an observational approach was used, and chi-square statistical analysis was employed to assess the relationships”.The study population consisted of all laboratory personnel in Palopo City, including staff from two government hospitals and two private hospitals, totaling 50 respondents.Data were gathered via interviews and observations, and then analyzed with SPSS 26 for Windows.. The findings indicated no significant relationship between training and PPE compliance (p value = 0.729). “However, a significant relationship was found between PPE compliance and several factors: length of service (p~value = 0.025), facilities and infrastructure (p~value = 0.008), and institutional policies (p~value = 0.026)”. Based on these results, it is recommended to conduct training and workshops on PPE usage, increase socialization efforts regarding PPE, and provide recognition for those who adhere to PPE protocols.
