Abstract

Maggot scum is a by-product of the maggot cultivation process (Hermetia illucens). Maggot can be used as organic fertilizer because it contains some nutrients needed by plants such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and also potassium. The objectives of this study are 1) to determine whether there is an effect of giving varying doses of ex-maggot (Hermetia illucens) on the growth of kale plants (Brassica oleracea var. Achepala), 2) to determine the best treatment of giving varying doses of ex-maggot (Hermetia illucens) on the growth of kale plants (Brassica oleracea var. Achepala), 3) to develop learning resources in the form of Learner Worksheets on class XII Senior High School growth and development material. This research is an experimental research using the Complete Randomized Design method. In the research conducted, there were 1 control and 3 treatments with dose information, control (only soil), treatment 1 (100 g of ex-maggot), treatment 2 (200 g of ex-maggot), and treatment 3 (300 g of ex-maggot). The growth parameters of kale plants (Brassica oleracea var. Achepala) observed were plant height, number of leaves (strands), and wet weight of kale plants (Brassica oleracea var. Achepala). Based on the results of the research and ANOVA test, there is an effect of giving variations in the dose of former maggot on the growth of kale plants (Brassica oleracea var. Achepala). The further test used gives the result that the variation of the dose of ex-maggot 300 grams are the best treatment that gives effect to the growth of kale plants (Brassicca oleracea var. Achepala). Abstract

Diaper waste containing the nutrient NPK can increase plant growth. This research aims to find out whether there is an effect of disposable diaper hydrogel on the growth of rose plants (Rosa sp.) and to find out the weight of the hydrogel which has the best effect on the growth of rose plants which is then prepared as a biology learning resource in the form of Student Worksheets. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 1 control and 3 treatments with 4 repetitions. The research was carried out for 2 months with the observation parameters of stem height, number of leaves, and number of petals of roses (Rosa sp.) which were analyzed using the One-Way ANOVA Test for rose plant stem height parameters and the Kruskal Wallis Test for the parameters of number of leaves and number of petals roses. The results of this research show that there is an influence of the weight of disposable diaper hydrogel on the growth of rose plants. It is known that in the analysis of stem height growth data, the calculation of Fcnt = 10.85 > F(0,05) (3,12) = 3.49. Analysis of leaf number data shows that Hcnt = 11.35 > X(0,95) (3) = 7.81. Likewise, analysis of the data on the number of petals shows that Hcnt = 10.04 > X(0,95) (3) = 7.81. The best hydrogel weight was in treatment 3 (P3) for all observed parameters. The results of this research can be used as a learning resource in the form of Student Worksheets on development and growth material in class XII plants.

Abstract

The issue in Biology education at the senior high school level often lies in the lack of active student engagement and the limited development of critical thinking skills fostered through conventional teaching methods. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of implementing three innovative learning models—Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Project-Based Learning (PJBL), and Deep Learning (DL)—in enhancing the quality of Biology education at SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach through a case study, utilizing questionnaires, observations, and documentation as data collection techniques. The study subjects included eleventh-grade science students and one Biology teacher. The results indicated that students preferred the PJBL model due to its practical and collaborative nature, while the teacher favored the PBL model for its effectiveness in developing critical thinking skills. Meanwhile, the application of DL still faces challenges related to student adaptation and technological readiness. The study recommends integrating PJBL and PBL as complementary approaches to create a more dynamic, interactive, and effective learning environment.
