Abstract

This research analyzes the trend of course selection among sixth semester students of the Information Systems Study Program at the Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU). The method used is descriptive quantitative with a survey approach. Data was collected through an online questionnaire distributed using Google Form. The resulting data was analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results show that the majority of students chose Big Data Analytics, which is (50%) out of (100%), where 25 out of 50 students who completed the survey chose Big Data Analytics. This is followed by Multimedia (34%) and Artificial Intelligence (16%). The main factors for choosing are personal interest and relevance to career prospects. Big Data Analytics is considered the most challenging, yet it also aligns best with student expectations. This finding underscores the need for adaptive curriculum development and directed academic guidance so that specializations are more relevant to industry needs and student interests

Abstract

Warnafusi is designed as a creative board game to encourage students to learn across subjects through the combination of colors and the selection of different scenarios. This article reviews how the game has evolved, how it works, and what it can offer to students. The game is designed for 2–4 players who can enjoy the game in 30–60 minutes. By combining gamification, cognitive learning, and social interaction, Warnafusi serves as a versatile tool that enhances interest and memory retention of facts in subjects such as science, math, and history, both in and out of school. Developing Warnafusi followed a qualitative descriptive and iterative process, focusing on the design and analysis of concepts. The prototype was reviewed by a panel of subject matter experts, including educators from diverse disciplines, game designers, and pedagogical consultants. Data were collected through classroom observation, focus group discussions with students, and teacher interviews. The analysis results show that Warnafusi introduces a style that is useful for integrating concepts from color theory, strategy, and social elements into one course. Because its challenge cards are customizable, this course is suitable for learning situations in schools and casual environments. By using color combinations as a method, this course inventively enhances gamification in education by improving a person's mental and social abilities. Warnafusi exemplifies the potential of board games to enrich the learning experience

Abstract

The extrovert-introvert personality type has different energy sources for the individual, which affects the difference in thinking structures that will be obtained in solving problems. The thinking structure is the internal representation of students' mental activities that describes the flow of solving mathematical problems. Therefore, the mistakes made by students in solving mathematical problems require proper resolution, one of which is defragmentation. The purpose of this research is to analyze students' thinking structures related to personality types in solving problems through defragmentation. The approach used in this research is qualitative with a descriptive research type. Subject selection was carried out using purposive sampling technique with criteria being students who have extrovert-introvert personality types regarding mistakes in understanding and transformation. The research data consisted of answers, recordings of semi-structured interviews, and students' think-aloud results. The analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that defragmentation can help students with extrovert-introvert personality types to understand mistakes and perform transformations to reorganize their thinking structure. This is evidenced by the completeness of students' thinking structures from the stages of reading, understanding, transforming, analyzing, and evaluating.
