Abstract

The development of digital finance has accelerated public access to digital credit through fintech lending, Paylater, and app-based financing products. However, this ease of access is not always followed by fully autonomous, rational, and informed consumer decisions. This study examines the phenomenon of dark patterns in digital finance applications, namely interface designs that subtly or explicitly direct, pressure, confuse, or manipulate users into making credit decisions that they might not have made if information, time, and alternatives were presented in a balanced manner. Using a qualitative approach based on literature studies and conceptual analysis, this study integrates literature on human-computer interaction, behavioral economics, consumer protection in financial services, and digital finance regulations in Indonesia. The analysis results show that dark patterns influence consumer decisions through four main mechanisms: asymmetry in information visibility, exploitation of cognitive biases, increased friction to refuse or cancel, and data-driven persuasive personalization. In the context of digital credit, these mechanisms can transform credit from a reflective financial decision into an impulsive transactional act. This research offers the concept of the dark credit interface as a novelty, namely a framework for understanding how interface design can weaken consumer protection, increase the risk of over-indebtedness, and challenge conventional oversight models that focus too much on the content of the contract, rather than on the architecture of digital choices before the contract occurs.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an integrative conceptual model that explains the role of organizational dynamic capabilities and assessors' strategic competencies in improving the quality of certification services in the era of digital transformation. The study uses a systematic literature review approach to synthesize recent studies related to competency, professional certification systems, and digital transformation. The results indicate that certification service quality is a multidimensional construct formed through the interaction of individual competencies, organizational capabilities, and digital transformation. Assessors' strategic competencies, particularly flexibility, reflective capacity, and critical thinking skills, play a crucial role in ensuring the validity and reliability of assessments. Meanwhile, dynamic capabilities enable organizations to continuously adapt to environmental changes, thereby maintaining the relevance and effectiveness of services. Digital transformation serves as an amplifier that increases the efficiency, transparency, and adaptability of the certification process, while strengthening the relationship between individual competencies and organizational capabilities. The integration of these three dimensions produces a conceptual model that provides a comprehensive understanding of certification service quality. This study contributes to expanding the literature by integrating individual, organizational, and technological perspectives and providing a conceptual foundation for the development of a more adaptive and future-oriented certification system.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of TikTok social media promotion on consumer purchase intention toward Skintific skincare products, with brand trust positioned as an intervening variable among Generation Z consumers in Malang City. The study is grounded in social media marketing, brand trust, and consumer behavior perspectives, emphasizing how short-video promotional exposure, interactive content, creator credibility, entertainment value, and algorithmic visibility may shape trust and intention in digital skincare consumption. The proposed research uses an explanatory quantitative design with purposive sampling. The target respondents are Generation Z consumers aged 18-29 years who live, study, or work in Malang City, use TikTok, and have been exposed to Skintific promotional content. Data are proposed to be collected through a structured Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The illustrative analysis suggests that TikTok promotion positively affects brand trust and purchase intention, while brand trust positively affects purchase intention and partially mediates the effect of TikTok promotion on purchase intention. The novelty of this article lies in its integration of TikTok-specific promotional mechanisms, brand trust mediation, Skintific as an international skincare brand strongly circulated in Indonesian digital commerce, and Malang City as an education-oriented urban market with a dense Generation Z population. The findings are expected to contribute to digital marketing theory and provide managerial implications for skincare brands seeking to convert TikTok engagement into trust-based purchase intention.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of compliance with the Indonesian Appraisers’ Code of Ethics (KEPI) and the implementation of Indonesian Valuation Standards (SPI) on valuation quality, with appraisers’ educational intensity serving as a mediating variable among public appraisers in Indonesia. The study employed a quantitative approach using explanatory research. The research population consisted of 845 public appraisers registered with the Center for Financial Profession Development (PPPK). The sampling technique used proportional random sampling, resulting in 100 respondents. Data were collected through online questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using path analysis and the Sobel test. The results indicate that compliance with the Indonesian Appraisers’ Code of Ethics has a positive and significant effect on appraisers’ educational intensity and valuation quality. The implementation of Indonesian Valuation Standards also has a positive and significant effect on appraisers’ educational intensity and valuation quality. In addition, appraisers’ educational intensity has a positive and significant effect on valuation quality. The mediation test results reveal that appraisers’ educational intensity significantly mediates the relationship between compliance with the Indonesian Appraisers’ Code of Ethics and valuation quality, as well as the relationship between the implementation of Indonesian Valuation Standards and valuation quality. This study demonstrates that improving valuation quality is influenced not only by ethical compliance and the implementation of valuation standards directly, but also through strengthening professional competence via continuing professional education. Therefore, professional organizations and related institutions should strengthen ethical enforcement, implementation of valuation standards, and participation in continuing professional education programs to improve valuation quality in Indonesia.

Abstract

"Digital crime" (or "cybercrime") has become one of the most frequently used terms in society today. The prefix "cyber-" is attached to various terms to describe new societal forms or crime types based on cyberspace—such as cyber society, cyberspace, cyberattacks, cybercrime, and cyber-terrorism. The evolution of information technology and the internet has created the realm of cyberspace; this computer-based communication world offers a new reality known as virtual reality. This environment has given rise to the specific term "cybercrime." Some experts argue that computer crime, cybercrime, and telematics crime are essentially the same, differing only in nomenclature. The underlying argument is that while computers were initially used merely for data collection and storage—facilitating conventional crimes—subsequent developments saw crimes committed via the internet, such as Trojan horse attacks and data leakage. This terminological controversy has not sparked significant debate regarding usage; for the sake of consistency, the author employs the term "cybercrime." Advances in information technology—particularly in computing and the internet—have undeniably benefited human life. However, alongside the advantages and conveniences they offer, these technologies possess a dark side capable of destroying human life and culture. Information technology has become a "double-edged sword": while it contributes to human welfare, progress, and civilization, it also serves as an effective vehicle for unlawful acts. Data theft is one such act that can be easily and effectively perpetrated by exploiting technological advancements, particularly in the sectors of data management and the handling of Personal Data—an area requiring robust protection. Advances in information and communication technology have blurred the boundaries of privacy, making it increasingly easy for Personal Data to be disseminated. Information technology can thus be utilized to commit unlawful acts, such as the theft of users' Personal Data.
