Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) implementation on employee compliance at PT. Sri Pamela Medika Nusantara (SPMN) in Tebing Tinggi City. The application of GCG principles is considered crucial for enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness, particularly in the healthcare sector, which demands high ethical and professional standards. This research adopts an empirical juridical approach with descriptive-analytical methods. Data were collected through interviews, literature reviews, documentation, and questionnaire distribution, followed by qualitative descriptive analysis. The findings indicate that the implementation of GCG principles at PT. SPMN has a significant impact on employee compliance levels. Key supporting factors include employees' strong understanding of GCG principles such as transparency, accountability, and fairnesswhich encourages adherence to company policies. Management commitment also plays a vital role in fostering a work environment conducive to optimal GCG implementation. However, challenges persist, including employees' lack of awareness of applicable regulations and an organizational culture that does not fully align with GCG principles. Non-compliance with GCG may lead to negative consequences for the company, such as reputational damage and legal risks. Persistent violations could result in legal actions, including employee termination or heavier sanctions, ultimately affecting the company’s sustainability and performance.

Abstract

The objective of this paper is as follows: analyse the effect of government spending on environmental protection and energy conservation through Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on the Environmental Quality Index (EQI). This paper includes panel data on government spending on environmental protection and energy conservation as independent variables, GRDP as an intervening variable, and EQI as a dependent variable in Java and Bali Island in 2015-2023 using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results of the study found a significant positive effect between government spending on environmental protection on GRDP and energy conservation on EQI. When the government spends the budget on environmental programmes, the currency circulating in the community can create jobs, thereby increasing local revenue. In addition, increasing the use of energy, especially renewable energy, also supports the creation of a healthier and more sustainable environment. The results find no evidence for a positive effect of energy conservation on GRDP, government spending on environmental protection on EQI, and GRDP on EQI. We conjecture that weak institutional quality can explain these results.

Abstract

This research aims to thoroughly analyze the influence of job satisfaction and employee engagement on employee performance at XYZ Palm Oil Plantation Company located in Rokan Hulu, Riau. In an increasingly competitive plantation industry era, human resource factors such as job satisfaction and employee engagement play a crucial role in determining the company's success. This study employs a quantitative approach with a survey method, involving a total of 100 respondents selected based on specific criteria to represent the entire workforce of the company. Data were collected through questionnaires designed with relevant measurement indicators, such as satisfaction levels regarding the work environment, compensation, relationships with supervisors and colleagues, as well as emotional attachment and commitment to the company. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression methods to examine the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable. The results indicate that both job satisfaction and employee engagement have positive and significant effects on employee performance. This suggests that higher levels of satisfaction and engagement among employees will positively impact their productivity and work quality. These findings highlight that management should focus more on improving aspects that contribute to employee satisfaction and engagement as key strategies to enhance performance and ensure sustainable company growth. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of human resource management oriented toward employee well-being to create a conducive work environment, increase loyalty, and boost motivation. With increased satisfaction and engagement, it is expected that the company can achieve optimal production targets, maintain operational sustainability, and strengthen its competitive position in the regional and national palm oil industry.

Abstract

This study identifies how exposition texts in Grade XI English textbooks contribute to character building using the 4C paradigm. Curriculum Merdeka is the guideline for promoting student autonomy and a pedagogical shift towards the 21st-century soft skills framework. This study employed qualitative case study analysis and interviews to evaluate the exposition texts of Ministry of Education-approved textbooks, assessing their capacity to enhance character building in eleventh-grade students. The case study analysis reveals that exposition texts primarily address ethical issues and social concerns, providing several opportunities for character education. However, the associated learning activities demonstrated the consistency of the 4C paradigm, with critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity regularly included in the process of character development during the teaching-learning process. Expository text should be used to improve moral reasoning, perspective-taking abilities, and ethical awareness for eleventh-grade students at school. English textbooks provide students with the selection and use of exposition texts to maximize their contribution to overall character building in secondary education. The implementation of 4C in the activities included in the English textbook enables students to be more aware of their environment in a wise manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership dynamics within Top Management Teams (TMT) and their influence on strategic decision-making in Indonesian banks. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through document analysis and indirect interviews. The results indicate that diversity within TMT, in terms of educational background, experience, and gender, positively influences the quality and innovation of strategic decisions. This diversity allows TMT to develop decisions that are more adaptive to external changes, such as technological advancements and regulatory changes. However, challenges arise in the decision-making process, particularly regarding difficulties in reaching consensus among TMT members. The power dynamics within TMT, whether centralized or distributed, also play an important role in strategic decision-making. These findings provide important insights for Indonesian banks to strengthen internal collaboration and diversity to create more innovative and adaptive strategic decisions in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the interaction between power, culture, and learning in the formulation of organizational strategy. Power within an organization, which is distributed across various levels, affects who can make strategic decisions and how these decisions are accepted and implemented. Organizational culture, encompassing values, norms, and customs, plays a crucial role in determining how strategies are developed and executed. Organizational learning, as a continuous process of acquiring knowledge and experience, allows organizations to adapt to market and technological changes. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing document analysis and relevant literature studies. The results indicate that these three elements interact and significantly influence the formation of organizational strategies. Organizations that can effectively manage power, culture, and learning have a greater chance of formulating and implementing successful, adaptive, and sustainable strategies. However, a lack of harmony among these elements may hinder the effectiveness of the strategies implemented. Therefore, it is crucial for organizational leaders to understand these internal dynamics and ensure that these three elements support each other in strategy formulation and execution.

Abstract

This article discusses the application of competitive strategy and collaborative strategy in the emergence of new industries in Indonesia, focusing on two key sectors: fintech and renewable energy. In the fintech industry, companies such as GoPay, OVO, and DANA use competitive strategies to gain an advantage through product differentiation and cost efficiency. On the other hand, in the renewable energy industry, collaborative strategies involving partnerships between companies, the government, and research institutions play a crucial role in overcoming infrastructure and financing challenges. This article demonstrates that although these two strategies are often viewed as separate approaches, they complement each other and are key in creating a growing industrial ecosystem. Based on this analysis, it is recommended that companies in Indonesia integrate both strategies to foster sustainability and growth in emerging industries.

Abstract

The economic disparity between Western and Eastern Indonesia (KTI) remains a primary challenge in national development policy. Despite abundant natural resources, the eastern region faces significant obstacles in human capital development, investment attraction, price stability, and export competitiveness. A quantitative study examining 12 eastern provinces from 2017-2024 employed panel data regression analysis with Random Effect modeling. The study reveal that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and inflation have significantly negative impacts on economic growth. Conversely, the Human Development Index (HDI) and exports demonstrate moderately positive effects, while the Open Unemployment Rate shows negative but statistically insignificant influence. These results highlight the importance of enhancing human resource quality and strengthening export capacity, alongside the necessity for careful foreign investment monitoring and inflation control to achieve sustainable economic growth in eastern Indonesia. The study aims to provide evidence-based guidance for central and regional governments in formulating more contextual, equitable, and sustainable development policies.
