DIVAGATRA - Jurnal Penelitian Mahasiswa Desain is a regular journal published by the Fakultas Desain, Universitas Komputer Indonesia. DIVAGATRA is published twice a year in April and October. This scientific journal aims to disseminate the scientific works of Diploma (D3), Bachelor (S1) and Master Degree (S2) students in the fields of design, art and culture. The focus and scope of articles that can be published by this journal are in the fields of Interior Design, Visual Communication Design and Graphic Design as well as other design and culture fields.

Abstract

The movie of Midsommar (2019) tells a story about a grief-stricken and lonely young woman, Dani Ardor, who was horrified by the sadistic tradition of The Hårga but eventually becomes part of the commune. It is a fairy tale where at some point the Big Bad Wolf convinced Little Red Riding Hood that happily-ever-after can be found in his sharp teeth. This movie is often classified as “elevated horror”, “folk horror”, and even a sadistic breakup movie. At the same time, this movie is also tells a story about indoctrination carried by a group whose strategy is also used by the writer-director, Ari Aster, in brainwashing the audience both through the characterization of Dani Ardor and the cinematography techniques. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of cinematography in indoctrinating the character of Dani and the audience in the film Midsommar (2019) so that it can be known what aspects influence it.

Abstract

Floods have often occurred in Baleendah District, especially when the rainy season comes. Many factors cause this flood disaster to occur, namely natural factors and human factors, floods caused by human factors often occur because the environment cannot be maintained properly such as people still throwing garbage around watercourses or rivers, lack of water catchment areas. A campaign program is needed to raise awareness and invite the public to jointly prevent floods and protect the environment. Media campaigns through animated motion graphic videos can be a solution to be able to convey a message. This design aims to raise awareness and invite the community to work together to prevent disasters in Baleendah District.

Abstract

Cryptozoolology is a study of animals whose existence is still questioned or debated. This animal is part of folklore, mythology, animals that have become extinct and are still found today animals or creatures whose existence is still mysterious is called cryptids and people who are experts or examine cryptids are called cryptozoolologists. In Indonesia there are Cryptids which are famous for the world and even some of these animals are famous for Western explorers. So that this information is stored in a limited manner, even though these creatures are naturally in Indonesia. Therefore we need information media about cryptids from Indonesia. To get their own data from books, previous research, and the internet as well as for community observation through interviews. To solve this problem, an information medium was created that explained about cryptids in Indonesia, namely an encyclopedia illustration book.

Abstract

Cireundeu traditional village is located in South Cimahi sub-district, Cimahi City, West Java Province. The general public knows the Cireundeu traditional village because of the uniqueness of the people who still maintain cassava as a staple food, and the people who continue to carry out the Sunda Wiwitan tradition. The people of the Cireundeu traditional village are known to still uphold cultural values as the basis of life in society. These ethical values include values of decency, honesty, discipline, environmental and social care. The lack of interest of young people in learning the culture found in the Cireundeu traditional village has resulted in the loss of a regional cultural identity. Therefore, there is a need for more interesting innovations as a medium for conveying information about the culture of the Cireundeu traditional village, one of which is through comic book media. The purpose of designing this comic book is to provide information for young people about social ethical values, as well culture in the Cireundeu traditional village community. With this comic media, it is hoped that it will provide a pleasant experience in learning the culture and values that exist in the Cireundeu traditional village.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of books as information media in educating teenagers about first menstruation. The research methods used included questionnaires, interviews, and observations of a sample of teenage girls. The research results show that books are an effective source of information in helping teenagers understand their first menstruation. Teens who use books as a source of information tend to have a better understanding of the physical and emotional changes associated with menstruation. Apart from that, books also help reduce the stigma and anxiety related to menstruation. These results have important implications for the development of more effective adolescent health education programs. This study provides valuable insight into the role of books as a relevant information tool in understanding first menstruation.

Abstract

With the rapid development of technology nowdays, the culture we have also needs to adapt to the rapid change of the technology so the culture stays relevant. One of the interesting modern technologies is the Augmented Reality technology where the virtual world able to enters the real world. With AR technology delivering local culture will be more interesting, one of them is Upacara Labuhan which is related to Nyi Roro Kidul. With Augmented Reality technology can emerge a figure of Nyi Roro Kidul into reality through animation. The virtual show of Nyi Roro Kidul is made for preserving the culture of Southern Seas Ruler myth. The method used for the research is MDLC (Media Development Life Cycle) for designing animation from start to finish. Then an interview conducted to determine whether the quality of the animations was sufficient to be distributed. Many opinions say that the style of animation is suitable for audience especially children.

Abstract

This analysis aims to identify how Christian schools use social media to enhance their brand awareness. The primary focus is on evaluating the types of content, posting frequency, and user engagement levels, as well as their impact on brand awareness. Data is collected from several Christian schools and their social media content is analyzed over a specified period. It is hoped that the results of this analysis will provide valuable insights into effective strategies that educational institutions can apply to leverage social media for enhancing brand awareness.

Abstract

Internet connectivity and social media have evolved into valuable tools for people in the contemporary digital era to receive information and interact socially. Unfortunately, many people continue to exploit these services to promote and even play online gambling, exposing internet andsocial media userstoads. According to the poll results, practically all internet users have been exposed to online gambling marketing on social media. Several factors influence respondents' decisions to receive information about the detrimental effects of online gambling, including their visual style preferences, awareness, and willingness to be informed. One solution to the challenges listed above is through education and outreach in the form of web comic media, which are widely available and easy to access by the general public, particularly young adults, while also serving as a practical amusement medium. Web comics' tales are broken into short episodes based on societal allusions and true stories. It is intended that by using web comics to educate people about the bad effects of online gambling, it will assist discourage individuals from participating in online gambling and communicate information to authorities for victims of online gambling.

Abstract

Lighting is a a process or method of providing light in a room or environment with the aim of providing adequate light conditions. Lighting encompasses the selection, placement, and configuration of light sources, such as lamps, in order to create lighting conditions that match functional, aesthetic, and comfort requirements. The study aims to discuss the application of interior lighting in two areas of the Purimanganti hotel area, the lobby and the dining room, with the aim of improving the guest experience and creating a pleasant atmosphere. Interior lighting has a significant impact on the atmosphere and aesthetics of the room. In the context of interior decoration, lighting absorption involves careful design considerations related to the type of light used, light distribution, light color, and shadow management. The findings of this study are expected to provide guidance for interior designers and hotel management on how to optimize remuneration. Restaurants are public facilities that can be found in several places including campus areas. The phenomenon of urban society is the habit of instant life that has the potential to increase stress but it is not matched by activities to achieve balance. Public facilities such as restaurants can contribute to providing such balance through the selection of appropriate design styles and approaches. The combination of contemporary style with the biophilia approach as a form of human affiliation with nature is the answer to the needs of urban people who crave harmony in life. The more advanced an era is, it is directly proportional to the development of furniture design as one of the interior elements. Multifunctional furniture now dominates the market with the presence of new problems in an increasingly modern world.
