Abstract

This study aims to enhance emotion regulation in early childhood through an integrated intervention as an effort to strengthen children’s mental health. The subject of this study was KS, a 5 year 8 month old boy who showed low emotion regulation abilities, characterized by frequent tantrum behaviors such as crying loudly, screaming, and throwing objects when his needs were not met. These behaviors were influenced by a difficult temperament, permissive parenting style, and limited parental attention due to work demands. This study employed a Single Subject Research (SSR) design with observations conducted over a two-week intervention period. The integrated intervention included the introduction of basic emotions through storytelling using emotion stickers and finger puppets, implementation of a token economy technique to reduce tantrum behaviors, and psychoeducation for teachers and parents. The results demonstrated an improvement in KS’s emotion regulation abilities. KS was able to recognize and understand basic emotional expressions and showed better control of anger. Based on the Emotion Regulation Checklist (ERC), KS’s emotion regulation increased from a low category to a moderate category according to the teacher’s assessment and to a high category according to the parents’ assessment. In addition, the token economy technique effectively reduced the frequency of tantrum behaviors at school. These findings indicate that integrated intervention is effective in improving emotion regulation and strengthening mental health in early childhood

Abstract

Hand hygiene is an effective way to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases caused by Staphylococcus aureus. The use of hand sanitizer is a practical alternative in maintaining hand hygiene, especially when water and soap are unavailable. Commercial hand sanitizers are widely available on the market with different compositions and concentrations of active ingredients, allowing for variations in their ability to inhibit bacterial growth. The aim of this research was to determinate the antibacterial activity of commercial hand sanitizer against S. aureus.  The antibacterial activity was determinated using well diffusion method.  The results showed that 2 brands of hand sanitizers produced a radical zone, 1 brand produced an irradical zone, and 2 brands did not produce an inhibition zone on S. aureus. The conclusions of the research was that commercial hand sanitizer containing active ingredients combined with ethanol (an alcohol derivative) and triclosan were more able to inhibit S. aureus compared that hand sanitizer containing only alcohol or alcohol derivatives. The inhibition against       S. aureus was categorized as very strong.

Abstract

DDengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) remains a significant public health problem in tropical and subtropical regions, with its incidence strongly influenced by environmental factors, particularly climate. Variations in rainfall, temperature, and humidity are known to affect the population dynamics of the Aedes aegypti mosquito and the transmission patterns of the dengue virus. This study aims to review and analyze scientific evidence regarding the relationship between climatic factors namely rainfall, temperature, and humidity and the incidence of dengue based on findings from previous studies. The method used was a literature review of several national and international journals published in recent years, encompassing various research designs such as time series studies, ecological studies, cross-sectional surveys, and modeling studies. The review results indicate that rainfall and humidity are the most consistently significant climatic factors associated with increased dengue incidence across different regions, as they contribute to the creation of mosquito breeding sites and enhance vector survival. Temperature also influences dengue incidence by accelerating the mosquito life cycle and dengue virus replication, although the strength of this association varies by location and time period. Modeling studies further project that climate change may substantially increase the dengue burden in the future. In conclusion, rainfall, temperature, and humidity are important and interrelated climatic factors influencing dengue incidence, and therefore should be comprehensively considered in early warning systems as well as in dengue prevention and control strategies.

Abstract

Nurses’ discipline remains relatively low, as evidenced by frequent tardiness, incomplete use of uniforms, and lack of courteousness toward patients. This study aimed to determine the relationship between work discipline and the quality of inpatient nursing services at Sinar Husni Hospital. This research employed a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The study population included all 93 inpatient nurses at the Hospital, with total sampling used as the sampling technique. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire, and analyzed using the chi-square test. The results found a significant relationship (p 0.05) between work discipline and service quality. Compliance with regulations on working hours, attendance, and rest breaks showed a significance value of p = 0.009; adherence to dress codes and professional behavior p = 0.016; compliance with procedures for task performance and work relations p = 0.003; and adherence to organizational rules on permissible and prohibited conduct p = 0.002. It is suggested that the hospital strengthen discipline through continuous guidance, consistent supervision, and the implementation of a fair reward-and-punishment system. Such efforts are expected to enhance nurses’ motivation, responsibility, professionalism, and performance in delivering excellent care.

Abstract

Malaria remains a major public health problem in tropical regions. Climate change leads to increased temperature, humidity, and rainfall, which affect the ecology of Anopheles mosquitoes as the primary vector of malaria. These conditions may expand transmission areas and prolong vector survival. The purpose of this study To review the influence of climate change on the spread and incidence of malaria in tropical regions based on recent studies published in 2024–2025. This study is a literature review by searching scientific articles through PubMed, Scopus, and nationally indexed journals (SINTA). Articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed descriptively based on temperature, humidity, and rainfall variables related to malaria occurrence. The review found that an increase in temperature (25–32°C) and humidity (70–85%) accelerates parasite development and extends mosquito lifespan. Excessive rainfall increases the number of breeding habitats. The combination of these factors elevates the risk of malaria transmission in tropical regions. Conclusions is Climate change significantly influences malaria transmission through environmental alterations and vector behavior changes. Adaptive control strategies and climate-based surveillance systems are required to prevent future increases in malaria incidence

Abstract

A Caesarean section (CS) involves a surgical process for delivering a baby, which often triggers fear and pain, leading to anxiety. If not managed effectively, this anxiety can negatively impact both the mother and the baby. As non-pharmacological alternatives to managing anxiety, Benson relaxation therapy and five-finger hypnosis have shown promise. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Benson relaxation therapy and five-finger hypnosis in reducing anxiety levels among pre-operative Caesarean section patients. A quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach was employed. The study sample comprised 60 Caesarean section patients at the Regional General Hospital, selected through purposive sampling. The STAI-S questionnaire was used as the research instrument, and data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The findings revealed a significant reduction in anxiety levels in pre-operative Caesarean section patients after receiving Benson relaxation therapy (p-value 0.000) and five-finger hypnosis (p-value 0.000). Additionally, a notable difference in anxiety levels was observed between the Benson therapy group and the five-finger hypnosis, with a p-value of 0.011

Abstract

One of the factors contributing to a decline in the quality of life among elderly individuals with hypertension is sleep quality. Sleep disturbances, such as insomnia or non-restorative sleep, can affect blood pressure regulation. Poor sleep quality, including short sleep duration, may trigger activation of the sympathetic nervous system and increased cortisol levels, which directly impact blood pressure. Elderly patients with hypertension commonly experience poor sleep quality, characterized by reduced sleep efficiency and frequent nocturnal awakenings. This study aimed to determine the relationship between sleep quality and quality of life among elderly patients with hypertension in the working area of the Sidomulyo Public Health Center. This study employed a quantitative research design using a descriptive correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 210 respondents were included in the study. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.001 (0.05), indicating a very significant relationship between sleep quality and quality of life. A significant relationship exists between sleep quality and quality of life among elderly patients with hypertension in the working area of the Sidomulyo Public Health Center
