This study aims to analyze the development and expansion of tourism and religious villages in Sumberbrantas Village, Batu City, and their impact on the local community. Sumberbrantas Village boasts pristine mountainous natural beauty, a harmonious social life, and strong religious values, offering the potential for development as a community-based tourism and religious village. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving village officials, religious leaders, tourism managers, and the local community. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the development of tourism and religious villages in Sumberbrantas Village has had a positive impact on improving the community's economy, preserving socio-cultural and religious values, and increasing public awareness of environmental sustainability. Active community participation and support from the village and regional governments are key contributing factors to the success of tourism and religious village development. However, constraints remain, including limited human resources and suboptimal tourism promotion. Therefore, a well-planned development strategy, community capacity building, and strengthening cooperation between stakeholders are needed to realize a sustainable tourism and religious village.

Abstract

The Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) provides a strong theoretical foundation for understanding stock returns; however, the dynamics of modern financial markets indicate that stock price movements are influenced not only by market risk but also by psychological factors, particularly sentiment. This study aims to analyze the effects of market risk premium, investor sentiment, and market sentiment on excess stock returns of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). The sample consists of 93 companies listed on the IDX during the 2013–2023 period. Panel data regression analysis using the Common Effect Model is employed to test the research hypotheses. The results show that the market risk premium and investor sentiment have a positive and significant effect on excess stock returns in Indonesia. However, market sentiment does not have a significant effect on excess stock returns. These findings enrich the theoretical understanding of the relevance of the Capital Asset Pricing Model and stock market behavior in Indonesia. For investors, investment timing strategies can be implemented based on changes in market sentiment and market risk premium conditions to maximize potential returns.

Abstract

This study examines a model of how product strategy, brand equity, and service quality influence purchase intention among tourists visiting Linow Lake, Tomohon City, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. Using a causal associative design, data were collected online via a structured questionnaire (Google Form) from 100 respondents selected through purposive non-probability sampling. Product strategy was measured through product variety, quality, design, features, packaging, size, and return; brand equity through brand awareness, perceived quality, brand association, and brand loyalty; and service quality through reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and tangibles. Purchase intention was assessed through indicators related to planned purchase/visit intention, patience/willingness, and information search. All measurement items were valid (r-count > r-table) and reliable (Cronbach’s alpha > 0.6). Classical assumption tests indicated normal residual distribution, no multicollinearity (VIF < 10; tolerance > 0.10), and no heteroscedasticity. Multiple linear regression results show that product strategy and brand equity have positive and significant effects on purchase intention, while service quality is not statistically significant in the regression model. Simultaneously, the three predictors significantly explain purchase intention. The findings highlight the importance of strengthening tourism product attributes and brand equity to enhance tourists’ purchase intention toward Linow Lake as a destination.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in social studies, where students tended to be passive and the learning process lacked variation. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of the Discovery Learning teaching model on students' learning outcomes. This study is a quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method. The research sample consisted of two classes: class VIII-B as the experimental group, which was taught using the Discovery Learning model, and class VIII-C as the control group, which was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through test instruments in the form of pre-test and post-test questions for both classes. The results showed a significant difference in student learning outcomes between the experimental and control groups. Based on the hypothesis test (t-test), the t-count value of 5.12 was greater than the t-table value of 1.67 (at a 0.05 significance level). Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. This proves that there is a significant effect of implementing the Discovery Learning teaching model on students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

The problem in this study is the low learning outcomes of students in Social Studies subjects, which are presumed to be influenced by the family environment and low learning interest of ninth grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar. This research is a quantitative study using a descriptive method. The population consisted of all ninth-grade students across 10 classes, totaling 319 students. The sample was determined using proportional random sampling, resulting in 80 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires for the variables of family environment and learning interest, as well as documentation of Midterm Examination (UTS) scores in Social Studies as indicators of learning outcomes. The data analysis techniques employed included simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and the coefficient of determination. The assumption test for analysis was conducted using the chi-square normality test, and the results indicated that both variables were normally distributed. The analysis showed that there is a positive and significant influence of the family environment on students’ learning outcomes (tcount = 3.43 > ttable = 1.664) and a positive and significant influence of learning interest on students’ learning outcomes (tcount = 2.022 > ttable = 1.664). The F-test results revealed that both variables simultaneously have a significant effect on students’ learning outcomes (Fcount = 4.463 > Ftable = 3.96). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.95574 indicates that 95.574% of the variation in students’ learning outcomes is influenced by the family environment and learning interest, while the remaining 4.426% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze grammatical errors made by eighth-grade students in writing descriptive texts, with a particular focus on the use of the simple present tense. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design. The participants were students of SMP Negeri 2 Kualuh Leidong, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a writing test in which students were required to compose a descriptive text in English. The students’ written works were analyzed using surface strategy taxonomy, which classifies errors into omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. The analysis procedure involved identifying errors, categorizing them into the four types, and interpreting the results to determine dominant error patterns. The findings revealed that students produced various grammatical errors, with misformation and omission appearing as the most frequent types. These errors mainly occurred in subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and the use of auxiliary verbs in the simple present tense. The results indicate that students still have limited mastery of basic grammatical structures in descriptive writing. This study suggests that teachers should provide more focused grammar instruction and writing practice to help students reduce errors and improve their ability to write descriptive texts accurately.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Project-Based Learning (PBL) model on the learning outcomes of students in the General Journal subject for grade X Accounting and Financial Institution program at SMK Negeri 1 Pematangsiantar. The background of this research is based on the low learning outcomes of students, which have not met the Minimum Competency Criteria (KKM), caused by conventional teaching methods that are less varied and limited active involvement from students during the learning process. This research employs a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design approach. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class taught using the Project-Based Learning model, and a control class taught using conventional methods. The instrument used was a 35-item multiple-choice test that had been validated and tested for reliability. Data analysis was performed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test due to the non-normal distribution of data as determined by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk normality tests. The results revealed a significant increase in learning outcomes for the experimental class compared to the control class. The average pretest and posttest scores of the experimental class increased from 43.71 to 74.29, while the control class scores increased from 38.00 to 66.43. Wilcoxon test results showed a significance value of p = 0.000 (<0.05) for both classes, indicating that the improvement in learning outcomes was statistically significant. This demonstrates that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning model effectively enhances students’ conceptual understanding and skills in the General Journal subject. The study concludes that Project-Based Learning has a significant positive effect on improving student learning outcomes. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers and schools consistently implement this model in teaching to create a more active, creative, and enjoyable learning environment, as well as to sustainably improve student achievement. Furthermore, this study can serve as a reference for future research development in vocational learning or other subjects relevant to workforce demands.

Abstract

This qualitative study investigates the pedagogical practices and professional resilience of mathematics teachers in severely under-resourced junior high schools in the interior of North Aceh, Indonesia. In a context defined by a chronic lack of infrastructure, teaching aids, and internet connectivity, the dominant techno-centric paradigm of mathematics education is rendered irrelevant. Through semi-structured interviews with seven teachers, the research employed thematic analysis to explore how effective instruction is conceived and enacted within systemic constraints. The findings reveal a sophisticated model of context-embedded frugal pedagogy, characterized by three interrelated themes: the creative improvisation of teaching materials from the local socio-cultural environment; the reconfiguration of the teacher's role into a holistic motivator and cultural broker; and the cultivation of resilience through a deep sense of purpose and informal professional communities. The study concludes that in low-resource settings, pedagogical quality is principle-driven rather than technology-dependent, with the teacher-student relationship serving as the primary affordance for learning. This research challenges deficit narratives by demonstrating how constraints can catalyze pedagogical innovation and robust professional identity. It advocates for the inclusion of frugal pedagogy in teacher training and proposes a more pluralistic, context-sensitive understanding of effective mathematics education.

Abstract

International students experience different stressors in host countries, stressors related to acculturation, academic pressure, and social integration. Adversely affecting their mental health. Studies addressed the significance of coping strategies as a tool for managing stress and relieving distress feelings. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a digital journaling intervention in reducing perceived stress among this population. Based on Pennebaker’s expressive writing theory, the program employed a one-week intervention using the "Unstuck" CBT-based journaling app with four first-semester international students in Indonesia. A mixed methods approach was used, with pre- and post-test measurements via the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and qualitative feedback discussions. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test showed no significant difference in stress scores post-intervention (p=0.357), likely due to the extremely small sample size limiting statistical power. However, a descriptive trend indicated reduced stress for three of the four participants. Qualitatively, participants reported increased self-awareness and emotional clarity, highlighting journaling's role in facilitating emotional disclosure and self-discovery. The study concludes that while digital journaling shows promise as a low-cost, accessible tool for promoting self-reflection, its measurable impact on stress reduction requires further investigation with a larger sample, longer intervention duration, and a controlled research design.
