Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) from catfish farming wastewater and vermicompost on the growth and production of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) plants. The study was conducted in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Al Washliyah University using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors, namely the dose of POC (0, 150, 300, and 450 ml/plot) and the dose of vermicompost (0, 1, 2, and 3 kg/plot). The parameters observed included plant height, number of productive branches, and pod weight per plot. The results showed that the application of POC, vermicompost, or a combination of both did not have a significant effect on all observed parameters. Although the highest treatment showed an increasing trend in the average observed value, the results were not statistically significantly different from the control. This is thought to be caused by the relatively low nutrient content of organic fertilizers and their volatile nature and not being able to optimally meet plant nutritional needs.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of palm kernel shell biochar and phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilizers on the growth and production of soybean (Glycine max) plants. The study was conducted at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Al Washliyah University, Medan, using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two treatment factors, namely biochar (B0, B1, B2, B3) and P and K fertilizers (P0, P1, P2, P3). The parameters observed included plant height, number of pods, seed weight, and other production parameters. The results showed that both biochar and P and K fertilizers independently had a very significant effect on all growth and yield parameters of soybean. The best treatment was the combination of B3 (6 kg/plot) and P3 (24 g P + 44 g K), which produced the highest average in plant height, number of pods, and seed weight. However, the interaction between biochar and P and K fertilizers did not show a significant effect on the growth and production of soybean plants. This study indicates that the appropriate application of biochar and P and K fertilizers can significantly increase soybean growth and yield, although the combination did not show a statistically significant synergistic effect. These findings support the use of biochar as an alternative organic material in sustainable agricultural systems.

Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education is rapidly transforming teaching and learning processes worldwide. However, its adoption within Islamic Studies education remains limited and understudied, especially concerning theological accuracy and cultural appropriateness. This study aims to explore Islamic Studies educators’ awareness, usage, and perceptions of AI tools in teaching, alongside institutional support and future outlooks. Using a synthetic survey of 100 male educators from public and private universities, madrasahs, and online academies, data were collected on demographics, AI awareness, usage patterns, perceived opportunities, challenges, and ethical concerns. Quantitative analyses assessed mean ratings on familiarity, AI tool usage, and institutional readiness, supplemented by thematic summaries of open-ended responses. Results indicate moderate awareness of AI (mean = 3.2) but very low actual usage (mean = 2.0), with 50% of respondents never using AI tools. Educators recognize AI’s potential to improve access to Islamic knowledge and facilitate distance learning but express strong concerns regarding theological inaccuracies (mean = 4.6) and the erosion of spiritual teacher-student relationships (mean = 4.5). Institutional support and training were critically low. Despite reservations, 60% support AI integration under scholarly supervision, favoring a hybrid model balancing technology with traditional teaching. In conclusion, the study highlights a cautious yet optimistic stance towards AI in Islamic education, emphasizing the need for culturally grounded AI systems, enhanced educator training, and supportive policies to harness AI’s benefits while preserving religious integrity.

Abstract

This study examines the efficacy of ChatGPT as an AI-assisted learning tool to improve undergraduate English department students' academic writing skills at Bumi Persada University in Indonesia. Twelve participants participated in the study, which used a mixed-methods research methodology. Lexical complexity, grammatical precision, and textual coherence are three important aspects of writing proficiency that were quantitatively measured using a pre-test and post-test paradigm. A deeper understanding of the student experience was made possible by qualitative data collected via semi-structured interviews and comprehensive questionnaires. The results show that there were notable benefits to including ChatGPT in the writing process. Notably, students' writing quality significantly improved, they became more motivated and involved in writing assignments, and they became more capable of learning on their own. However, the study also discovered a significant challenge: an overreliance on AI-generated ideas, which may impede the development of autonomous critical thinking and unique composition skills. The study finds that, while ChatGPT is a beneficial additional tool for second language writing pedagogy, its adoption necessitates careful instructional design to reduce the hazards of dependency and maximize the advantages for long-term skill acquisition.

Abstract

Chronic kidney failure (CKD) is a condition characterized by progressive and irreversible decline in kidney function. One of the main therapies for CKD patients is hemodialysis, which requires adherence to a special diet to prevent complications and maintain quality of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age, gender, education level, length of hemodialysis, knowledge level, and family support with dietary compliance in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis at RSI Pati. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design with a total sampling technique, involving 50 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The instrument used was a questionnaire on respondent characteristics, knowledge, family support, and dietary compliance. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the variable that had a significant relationship with dietary compliance was the level of knowledge (p = 0.011). Meanwhile, age (p = 0.386), gender (p = 0.248), education level (p = 0.071), duration of hemodialysis (p = 0.137), and family support (p = 0.498) did not show a significant relationship. Dietary compliance in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis is largely influenced by their level of knowledge. It is recommended that healthcare professionals develop structured and ongoing educational programs, tailored to patient needs, to improve dietary compliance.
