Abstract

This study was conducted at C. K. Tedam University of Applied Sciences and Technology. It was guided by education and communication model as propounded by Shanon and Weaver (1949). This study was designed to investigate the influence of communication channels on education management practices in Ghanaian public universities. The study specifically investigated the types of communication channels used in the university and related the channels to the constraints faced in communicating messages in the university. Literature was reviewed in relation to the above stated objective. The study sample was drawn from CKT-UTAS and involved both academic and administrative staff. The sample size was one hundred and fifty two (152) which represents 77.6% of the target population. Stratified random sampling techniques based on the respondents’ job descriptions were used. The instruments for data collection involved use of questionnaires and information from secondary data materials for instance the University Act 2019, Act 1000 and the employee survey findings of 2006. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The major findings revealed that CKT-UTAS had few channels of communication and that the communication policy framework was in place. However, the study identified that CKT-UTAS relies on Head of Departments, Group representatives, memos, notice boards, face to face and telephone to communicate. The study therefore, recommended that CKT-UTAS embraces new channels of communication (i.e. use of email) for efficiency purposes in addition to the already existing ones. Also the university should adopt strategies of enhancing communication between the staff and administration.

Abstract

Education plays a central role in shaping the character and quality of human resources. Quality education does not only focus on knowledge transfer, but also on the formation of students' morals, personalities, and skills. This study discusses the implementation of the Pancasila and Rahmatan Lil 'Alamin student profile strengthening project in Madrasah Aliyah Al Iman Ponorogo, Indonesia. Research shows the success of madrasahs in implementing curriculum principles in accordance with Ministry of Religious Affairs guidelines. However, there are weaknesses in equitable distribution and improvement of the quality of education, especially for Students with Special Needs. Project implementation involves intracurricular and extracurricular activities, focusing on specific subjects. While there have been efforts to shape learners' attitudes, research recommends improvements, including the addition of principles for inclusiveness and educational equity. Involving stakeholders, such as parents and organizations related to GDP, is also considered crucial. Overall, the implementation of the curriculum at MA Al Iman reflects a commitment to the formation of character, religious values, and nationality in accordance with the objectives of national education.

Abstract

Technological development is rapid and unavoidable. Every individual, not limited to age, educational background, profession and others, can access information digitally. But unfortunately the rapid development of digital technology is not accompanied by the anticipation for its users. This is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Data collection is done by Unstructure interview. The researchers classified the informants based on their teaching experience, namely (a) teachers with less than 10 years of teaching experience, (b) teachers with 10-20 years of teaching experience, and (c) teachers with more than 20 years of teaching experience. The results of the study show that not all teachers understand and implement digital literacy. Teachers with the old paradigm or those who on average have more than 20 years of teaching experience, do not give their students enough freedom in the aspects of digital skills, namely, critical thinking, creativity, communication skills and collaboration. Teachers with the old paradigm seem less able to accept criticism from their students or if there are things where students don't share the same ideas as their teachers. Teachers with the old paradigm also still have big concerns if their students collaborate with students from other schools for security reasons, and tend to direct students to use their electronic devices only for learning and not for other things. From the differences in perceptions among these teachers, education or training related to digital literacy for teachers is very urgent to be implemented.
