Abstract

Acne is a skin problem that is often a problem for most teenagers in Indonesia. This acne can occur due to a lack of facial hygiene, which causes the growth of bacteria. Basil (Ocimum sanctum L.) is a plant that grows in Indonesia and contains alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and tannins which can inhibit the growth of bacteria. The purpose of this study was to utilize Basil extract (Ocimum sanctum L.) into liquid soap preparation and evaluate the physical quality of the preparation. Basil extract (Ocimum sanctum L.) can be obtained by using the maceration method using 96% ethanol as a solvent. Liquid soap preparation formulations are made with extract concentrations of 2%, 4%, and 6% with a uniform liquid soap base. Evaluation of liquid soap preparations includes tests for homogeneity, organoleptic, pH, dispersibility, and high foam. The results of the three liquid soap formulations showed that the three formulations were homogeneous and there was no organoleptic change, the pH range of liquid soap 9-11 which fulfilled the pH requirements of liquid soap according to SNI No. 06-4085-1996, namely 8 - 11, the spreadability test range is 2.7 - 3cm and the foam height test range is 3 ? 8,5cm.

Abstract

The development of antibiotics is needed to overcome drug resistance. Penicillin binding protein 5 (PBP5) Eschericia coli bacteria is one of the targets because it plays a role in maintaining cell shape. Pyrazolina is a compound that contains two nitrogen atoms where the two nitrogen atoms are close together and are responsible as an antibacterial agent that can disrupt the cell wall. The target molecule was downloaded from the Protein Data Bank (www.rcsb.org) (PDB ID: 6NTZ). The grid used is 20 ? x 26? x 32? with a center of 29,731?, -9,112 ? and 35,821 ?. Based on the results of the docking that has been carried out from 10 pyrazoline derivative test compounds, the resulting binding energy varies. There are 5 pyrazoline derivative compounds having binding energy lower than the natural ligands -6.27 kcal / mol. Compound P8 has the lowest value compared to other test compounds with a binding energy value of -7.69 kcal / mol. Based on the interaction, P2 and P3 compounds have interactions that are similar to the original ligands due to the presence of Pi-Donor hydrogen bonds with the amino acids SER 73 and SER 139. The results of molecular docking studies show that pyrazoline derivatives play a role in Eschericia coli bacteria.

Abstract

Alpha tocopherol (?-tocopherol) contained in noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia L.) is one of the antioxidants that contribute to pharmacological effects. The noni plant is a tropical plant that has broad growing requirements, so that this plant can grow anywhere. Although easy to find, the environmental conditions where noni grows will have an influence on the amount of ?-tocopherol it contains, one of which is the difference in where it grows. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of ?-tocopherol in the n-hexane fraction of noni fruit, which grows in three different growing places. Analysis for ?-tocopherol by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with a validated analytical method. The results of system suitability test HPLC System for ?- tocopherol analysis were as follows isocratic elution system of a mobile phase 100% methanol, uv detector at a wavelength of 292 nm using the column C18 (150 ? 4, 6mm, 5?m) flow rate of 1 ml / min. The method had linear concentration range from 1-25 ppm, with R2 0.9967. The accuracy of this method that represented by recovery was 98.02-99.252%. The precision of this method that expressed by Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) was 0.262% and has good specificity. From the analysis, it was found that the content of ?-tocopherol in noni fruit was different and had a positive correlation with the height where it grew, namely in Pameungpeuk (18 m asl) of 0.0316%; Kiaracondong (173 m asl) of 0.0637%; and Lembang (1200 m asl) at 1.0853%.
