Abstract

The study investigates the impact of the Teacher Excellence Competition event on the motivation of teachers at MI Manbaul Ulum Tlogorejo Karangawen Demak in 2024. This mixed-method research combines both quantitative and qualitative approaches to provide a comprehensive understanding of how such competitions influence teacher motivation, job satisfaction, and professional commitment. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 20 teachers and in-depth interviews with selected participants. The analysis reveals that the competition significantly boosts teacher motivation, both intrinsically and extrinsically, by recognizing and rewarding their efforts. Teachers reported higher job satisfaction and a stronger commitment to their profession after participating in the competition. The research identifies several supporting factors, including strong support from school management and the collaborative environment among teachers. However, challenges such as time constraints and the pressure of high expectations were also noted. The study highlights the importance of transparent and fair competition processes and suggests that schools regularly conduct such events to foster a motivating and innovative teaching environment. The findings align with existing motivational theories and previous studies, underscoring the positive effects of recognition and professional development opportunities on teacher performance. AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji dampak event Kompetisi Guru Berprestasi terhadap motivasi guru di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Manbaul Ulum Tlogorejo Karangawen Demak pada tahun 2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran yang menggabungkan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif untuk memberikan pemahaman yang komprehensif mengenai bagaimana kompetisi tersebut mempengaruhi motivasi guru, kepuasan kerja, dan komitmen profesional. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada 20 guru dan wawancara mendalam dengan partisipan terpilih. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa kompetisi ini secara signifikan meningkatkan motivasi guru, baik intrinsik maupun ekstrinsik, dengan memberikan penghargaan dan pengakuan atas usaha mereka. Guru melaporkan kepuasan kerja yang lebih tinggi dan komitmen yang lebih kuat terhadap profesi mereka setelah mengikuti kompetisi. Penelitian ini mengidentifikasi beberapa faktor pendukung, termasuk dukungan kuat dari manajemen sekolah dan lingkungan kolaboratif di antara para guru. Namun, tantangan seperti keterbatasan waktu dan tekanan ekspektasi tinggi juga dicatat. Studi ini menyoroti pentingnya proses kompetisi yang transparan dan adil serta menyarankan agar sekolah secara rutin mengadakan acara serupa untuk menciptakan lingkungan pengajaran yang memotivasi dan inovatif. Temuan ini sesuai dengan teori motivasi yang ada dan studi sebelumnya, yang menekankan efek positif dari pengakuan dan kesempatan pengembangan profesional terhadap kinerja guru.  الملخصتدرس هذه البحث تأثير فعالية مسابقة المعلمين المتميزين على دافع المعلمين في المدرسة الابتدائية الإسلامية "منبع العلوم" في تلوجوريجو كارانجاوين دمك لعام 2024. يستخدم هذا البحث منهجًا مختلطًا يجمع بين الأساليب الكمية والنوعية لتقديم فهم شامل لكيفية تأثير هذه المسابقات على دافع المعلمين، ورضاهم الوظيفي، والتزامهم المهني. تم جمع البيانات من خلال استبيانات وزعت على 20 معلمًا ومقابلات معمقة مع مشاركين مختارين. يكشف التحليل أن المسابقة تعزز بشكل كبير دافع المعلمين، سواءً داخليًا أو خارجيًا، من خلال الاعتراف بجهودهم ومكافأتهم عليها. أفاد المعلمون بزيادة في رضاهم الوظيفي والتزام أقوى بمهنة التعليم بعد المشاركة في المسابقة. حدد الدراسة عدة عوامل داعمة، منها الدعم القوي من إدارة المدرسة والبيئة التعاونية بين المعلمين. ومع ذلك، لوحظت تحديات مثل قيود الوقت وضغط التوقعات العالية. تبرز الدراسة أهمية عمليات المسابقة الشفافة والعادلة وتقترح على المدارس إجراء مثل هذه الفعاليات بانتظام لتعزيز بيئة تعليمية محفزة ومبتكرة. تتوافق النتائج مع نظريات الدافع الحالية والدراسات السابقة، مما يؤكد الآثار الإيجابية للاعتراف بجهود المعلمين وفرص التطوير المهني على أدائهم

Abstract

This work aims to discover Robert Maynard Hutchins' thoughts on character education in elementary schools from a perpetual perspective. Teachers can use this research to teach character education by utilizing the idea of perennials, which is very important for developing children's character. This research uses a literature study methodology combined with qualitative descriptive techniques. The perennial school of thought considers how humans must evolve with the times. The perennial philosophy approach to character education emphasizes how humans behave according to the good values inherent in themselves. Because elementary school education is a foundation for higher education, character education is most appropriate if started at that level. The concept of perennialism in character education emerged as a response to the contemporary cultural crisis. The philosophy of perennial prioritises efforts to return to the past, especially rebuilding ideals and ideas that were once a strong way of looking at the world. Through character education, these values and ideals of life can be restored to ensure that future generations maintain their identity as an Indonesian nation. One of the options that must be used in elementary school character education is the core of the perennial philosophy.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of digital literacy in elementary schools, particularly at MI Al Wahdah in Baubau City, by examining the aspects of readiness, application, challenges, and opportunities within the context of the Merdeka Curriculum. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included the school principal, classroom teachers, and third-grade students. Research instruments consisted of interview guidelines, observation sheets, and documentation of digital learning activities. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation, while data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that school readiness was reflected in the availability of basic digital tools and the principal’s initiative in supporting teacher training. The challenges identified included limited infrastructure, varying levels of digital literacy among teachers, and the lack of parental involvement in supporting students during digital learning. Meanwhile, opportunities for development were seen in the teachers’ enthusiasm for innovation, support from external training programs, and the availability of digital learning media that could be optimized. This study recommends strengthening collaboration among stakeholders to support the sustainable implementation of digital literacy.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low numeracy literacy skills of students in solving mathematical problems contained in the unit length conversion material and the lack of technology utilization in teaching materials in the classroom. One solution to overcome these problems is to develop teaching materials that integrate length unit conversion material through ICT-based kasajang teaching materials in mathematics learning. This research uses the RnD (Research and Deplopment) method with the ADDIE model in the form of Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Evalution stages. Data were collected through various techniques such as: observation, validation by a team of experts, student numeracy literacy tests, and assessment of the feasibility of teaching materials from teachers and students through interviews. The results showed that this ICT-based kasajang teaching material could meet the criteria of being very valid based on the assessment of 96% media expert validators, 100% material expert validators and 98% language expert validators. In addition, the results of the student numeracy literacy test increased after using this teaching material obtained from the comparison between the pre-test value and the pre-test value when using the kasajang teaching material. the results of the average difference using the kasajang teaching material show that the learning media is effective in improving 21st century numeracy literacy skills.

Abstract

This study explores critical literacy strategies, reflective abilities, and intercultural competence in language teaching to develop critical, reflective, and adaptive students. Research objectives include identifying key barriers, developing innovative strategies, and practical solutions for integrating critical literacy in education. The research uses a qualitative approach based on literature review, best practice analysis, and theoretical case studies. Data were analyzed through a descriptive-critical approach and thematic synthesis to produce a holistic framework. The research results show that the main obstacles include limited understanding of the socio-cultural context, difficulty analyzing multimodal texts, and embedded cultural stereotypes. Strategies such as authentic text discussions on socio-cultural themes, multimodal discourse analysis, and cross-cultural simulations have proven effective in improving students' critical literacy skills, reflective abilities, and intercultural sensitivity. This approach allows students to understand global issues in depth, develop analytical skills, and adapt to different cultural norms. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of critical literacy, multidimensional reflection, and intercultural competence in one holistic learning framework. This approach is relevant to facing the challenges of globalization and preparing students to become individuals who are responsive to an ever-evolving world. These findings provide an important contribution to the development of inclusive education that is relevant to the needs of the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament (TGT) in improving mathematics learning outcomes among fourth-grade students at SDN Jatisari, specifically on the topic of multi-digit multiplication. The research employed a quantitative approach using a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group experimental design. The study involved two classes: an experimental group using the TGT model and a control group applying the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model.The results indicate that the TGT model significantly enhanced students’ learning outcomes. The average posttest score of the experimental group was 85.32, higher than the control group’s average of 82.04. An independent sample t-test showed a significant difference between the two groups (Sig. 0.044 < 0.05), and a one-sample t-test revealed that the experimental group’s average posttest score exceeded the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) of 75 (Sig. 0.000). The average learning gain (N-Gain) in the experimental group reached 55.94% (moderate category), which was higher than the control group’s 33.82%.The TGT model effectively fosters active student participation, collaborative learning, and a fun yet competitive classroom atmosphere. Therefore, the TGT model is recommended as an alternative instructional strategy to enhance mathematics learning outcomes at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the experimental method on the understanding of science concepts of fourth-grade elementary school students. The type of research carried out uses Classroom Action Research with Kurt Lewin's model procedures. The population of this study is 21 fourth-grade students. Data on the ability to understand science concepts was collected using essay-shaped questions. The data obtained were then explained using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis techniques (t-test). Based on the calculation, data obtained showed an increase in the cycle, but in cycles I to II there was no increase due to obstacles, with the results being Cycle I: 42.85%, cycle II: 42.85% and cycle III: 85.71%. This means that there is an increase in each cycle in the results of the acquisition of conceptual understanding abilities. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the application of the experimental method on the understanding of science concepts of fourth-grade elementary school students. The implication of the application of the experimental method is that students become active in participating in learning activities. The application of the experimental method that refers to problems makes students practice in understanding a concept.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the religious moderation tolerance attitude of students at State Elementary School 028/IV Jambi City. This research uses qualitative research with a case study type. The techniques used to collect data are observation, interviews and documentation. The selection of subject used purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions.  The validity of the data in this research uses triangulation techniques. The results of this research show that the attitude of religious moderation tolerance of students at State Elementary School 028/IV in Jambi City is very good. Students already respect and respect each other's religious differences. School activities, such as group worship according to one's religion and other routine activities, also support the creation of a tolerant environment. Teachers and school residents also play an active role in educating and guiding students with the values of tolerance. The attitude of students at Elementary School 028/IV Jambi City does not differentiate between friends based on religion, they care about always reminding friends to carry out their religious obligations. Three main indicator that can be drawn are students' attitudes of tolerance, moderation through peace, awareness and respect for themselves and others.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the STEAM-PROKSI (Student Innovation Creativity and Synergy Project) model in IPAS Phase B learning and evaluate its impact on the development of logical, creative, and innovative thinking skills in elementary school students. The research approach used is a mixed method, which combines descriptive qualitative and quasi-experimental approaches. A qualitative approach was used to explore the learning process, student experience, and teacher and student perception of the application of the STEAM-PROKSI model, with a case study method carried out in two elementary schools in Moga District, Pemalang Regency. Qualitative data collection techniques include observation during the learning process, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of student projects. Qualitative data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion/verification, with the validity of the data guaranteed through source and method triangulation techniques. Meanwhile, the quantitative approach uses a quasi-experimental design with two groups: the experimental group using the STEAM-PROXI model and the control group using the conventional approach. The instrument used was a high-level thinking skill test before and after treatment to measure the improvement of students' logical, creative, and innovative thinking skills. The results of the study show that the application of the STEAM-PROXSI model is able to create a meaningful and contextual learning experience, as well as encourage students to develop high-level thinking skills through project activities that are integrated with real life. Despite challenges in time planning, resource availability, and the implementation of a cross-disciplinary approach, overall the implementation of this model was considered effective. These findings recommend STEAM-PROKSI as an alternative innovative learning model in supporting the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, especially in science subjects at the elementary school level.
