Abstract

Graphene oxide (GO) is a carbon-based material with great potential for gas adsorption applications due its large surface area and abundant oxygen-containing functional groups. This study aims to synthesize GO from spent lithium-ion battery graphite through an enviromentally friendly modification of the Hummer method. The modification involved varying the intercalation media using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and their combination to evaluate their effect on the oxidation of potassium permanganate (KMnO4), heating, and post-reduction with H2O2. The structural evolution of graphite and the obtained GO was analyzed using Raman spectroscopy, where the ID/IG ratio was used an indicator of defect density. Result revealed that was battery graphite exhibited a higher degree of structural disorder than commercial graphite, with an increase ID/IG ratio from 0.12 to 0.32. After oxidation the ID/IG ratio increased to 0.33 for GO synthesized with mixed media (H?SO? + H?O?) (GO-mix), 0.94 for GO synthesized with H?SO? (GO-HM), and 1.36 for GO synthesized with H?O? only (GO-PT H2O2). The highest ratio observed in GO-PT H?O? indicates the most effective oxidation and the formation of abundant oxygen functional groups without KMnO? degradation. Therefore, using H?O? as a single intercalation agent offers a simple, efficient, and sustainable approach for producing high-quality graphene oxide from waste battery graphite.

Abstract

The utilization of waste into high-value materials is one solution to environmental and energy issues. This study aims to examine the effect of catalyst size on the yield of biodiesel synthesized from used cooking oil with the aid of calcium oxide catalyst from simping shell through transesterification at 65? for 2 hours. The independent variables studied were catalyst particle size (0.180, 0.150, 0.125, 0.075, and 0.063 mm). The results showed that a catalyst particle size of 0.125 mm gave the best results, with a yield of 43.24%. The biodiesel product met the SNI 7182:2015 standard with a FAME content of 98.01% and an acid number of 0.453 mg-KOH/gram.

Abstract

Vermicelli industry is one of the food industries that produces wastewater containing high levels of organic matter and suspended solids, as indicated by elevated Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) values. These pollutants pose a risk to the environment if not properly treated. One of the methods that can be applied to reduce pollutant levels is the coagulation-flocculation process. This study aims to examine the effects of various coagulation-flocculation process variables on the reduction of COD and TSS in vermicelli industry wastewater and to determine the most influential factors affecting the removal efficiency of both parameters. The treatment process was carried out using the coagulation-flocculation method, with a full factorial design experiment involving four main independent variables at two levels (high and low): coagulant dose (100, 300 mg/L), rapid mixing speed (100, 300 rpm), flocculation speed (10, 30 rpm), and settling time (30, 50 minutes). The analysis results indicated that chitosan dose and settling time were the most influential variables in reducing COD levels, while settling time had the greatest impact on TSS reduction. These findings demonstrate that the effectiveness of the coagulation-flocculation process is highly dependent on proper adjustment of process parameters, making the selection of optimal operating conditions essential for efficient wastewater treatment in the vermicelli industry. Furthermore, this process highlights the potential of chitosan as an environmentally friendly coagulant for treating food industry wastewater.

Abstract

Ensuring healthy lives and improving the well-being of people of all ages is one of the focuses of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The elderly population is aged 60 years and above and has higher functional mobility limitations because the elderly have difficulty walking and are more prone to falls. A Walking Frame (walker) is a walking aid for the elderly, which is proven to help the elderly improve body balance and reduce the risk of falling. However, it is known that walking aids (walkers) still have shortcomings when used outside the home, such as the walker not being equipped with a seat, the walker not being equipped with storage space, the walker being difficult to carry, and the walker being difficult to maneuver. Therefore, a redesign of walking aids is necessary to better meet the needs of older adults during outdoor activities. A participatory ergonomics approach and a House of Quality (HoQ) matrix were used in the design process for walking aids. The results of the study show that the elderly need walking aids that are easy to use, safe, multifunctional, portable, and durable. Specifications of the proposed walking aid: This walking aid has 4 wheels with a diameter of 20 cm; Dimensions of the walking aid (length 79.5 cm, width 48 cm, height 85 cm – 100 cm); The walking aid can be folded into a more practical shape; The walking aid is equipped with a seat, storage space, and a drinking bottle holder; The walking aid can be used as a walking aid with or without rear wheels. The statistical test results of the proposed walking aid are superior to those of the existing walking aids 1 and 2 in terms of ease of use, safety, multifunctionality, and durability. However, the portability aspects of the proposed walking aid and the existing walking aids 1 and 2 are at the same level.

Abstract

Penglihatan adalah salah satu indera vital bagi manusia. Namun, keterbatasan ini menjadi tantangan besar bagi penyandang tunanetra, terutama dalam mengakses informasi seperti pengenalan huruf braille. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang alat bantu pengenalan huruf braille yang dikendalikan melalui perintah suara voice match menggunakan aplikasi Bluetooth. Sistem yang dikembangkan terdiri dari aplikasi Android menggunakan MIT APP Inventor, modul Bluetooth HC-05, Arduino Uno, dan motor servo yang dikontrol oleh driver PCA9685. Saat pengguna menyebutkan huruf melalui aplikasi, suara tersebut diolah dan dikirim ke Arduino untuk menggerakkan motor servo yang membentuk pola Braille sesuai huruf yang disebutkan. Pengujian menunjukkan bahwa alat ini berfungsi dengan baik, dengan waktu koneksi Bluetooth rata-rata 4,72 detik dan jangkauan hingga 10 meter. Motor servo mampu menampilkan pola Braille dengan waktu respon sekitar 1,8 detik. Dengan baterai lithium-ion, perangkat ini dapat beroperasi hingga 16,7 jam. Alat ini memberikan solusi inovatif dan interaktif dalam proses belajar huruf Braille bagi penyandang tunanetra.

Abstract

The progress of a city can be seen in its lighting system, such as billboard lights, street lights and traffic control systems. Lighting the lights on each street requires a lot of electrical energy because there are quite a number of these lights and they light up for a long time. The street lighting system will beautify buildings, shops, hotels and offices at night and create a sense of security for the community. The purpose of this study is to utilize a street light lighting control system to adjust the intensity of street lighting according to busy road conditions. This research method was carried out by observing the amount of energy used by conventional street lights and observing the energy absorbed by street lights with controls according to the needs of street lighting intensity. In this study, the energy entering the lamp is regulated from 18.00 - 22.00 by 100%, at 22.01 - 24.00 by 55%, at 00.01 - 04.00 by 30% and at 04.01 - 05.59 by 100% so that it can save energy by 42, 55% compared to 50 watt COB lamps which are supplied 100% from 18.00 - 05.59. Energy savings of 42.55% if implemented within one month can save around 9.66 kwh and if implemented within one year can save 115.92 kw

Abstract

Indramayu's position as the number one fish producer in West Java, in addition to the presence of 14 fish auction places (TPI) in Indramayu should make the price of fish better and provide additional economic benefits for fishermen. The problem that has arisen so far is that the facilities are said to be inefficient so that fishermen are forced to sell outside the TPI to maintain the freshness of the fish at uncompetitive prices. TPI Majakerta is one of the TPI that has similar problems plus the administrative process at TPI Majakerta, starting from recording the catch, announcing the bid price, to compiling the auction report, is still done manually using paper and direct recording by officers which is prone to errors. This research is intended to create a website-based fish auction system in Indramayu where the case study was conducted at TPI Majakerta. The research began with requirements, analysis, design, to implementation by creating a system prototype. The result is there are three main users: admin, auctioneer, and service. With an auction system similar to an auction at TPI, where buyers submit bids through the system, where there is a time running during the auction process and the highest bid becomes the auction winner.

Abstract

Negara dikatakan maju jika memiliki tingkat penguasaan teknologi tinggi (high technology), sedangkan negara-negara yang tidak bisa beradaptasi dengan kemajuan teknologi sering disebut sebagai negara gagal (failed country) (Ngafifi, 2014). Salah satu teknologi yang berkembang adalah pada sistem pembayaran. Beragam transaksi pembayaran dilakukan model cashless, bahkan kegiatan bertransaksi keuangan dalam kehidupan sehari–hari sudah banyak dilakukan menggunakan smartphone agar lebih mudah, cepat untuk dijangkau dalam melakukan transaksi pembelian terhadap suatu produk maupun jasa. Tujuan penelitian ini secara umum dilakukan untuk melihat adopsi pengguna sistem dompet digital (E-Wallet) pada mahasiswa pascasarjana di Purwokerto menggunakan pendekatan TAM (Technology Acceptance Model). Sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa pascasarjana di Purwokerto dengan rentan usia 20–50 tahun. Analisis yang dilakukan non probability sampling dengan uji non parametrik atau Uji Kruskal Wallis. Responden sebanyak 188 mahasiswa pascasarjana. pada penelitian ini tingkat penggunaan dompet digital didominasi pada rentan usia 31-35 tahun, 87% berlatarbelakang telah bekerja sebagai pegawai negri dan pegawai swasta yang sudah memiliki pendapatan, dan sedang melakukan studi lanjut, dengan mayoritas adalah berjenis kelamin perempuan dengan jumlah 98 orang atau sebesar 52,13% dan laki-laki dengan jumlah 90 dengan presentase sebesar 47,87% Kategori penggunaan dompet digital awalnya terbagi menjadi dua : Independen (OVO, DANA, LinkAja): digunakan oleh 29% responden, Tertanam dalam ekosistem (ShopeePay, GoPay): digunakan oleh 41% responden, adapun sisanya adalah temuan baru dari penelitian ini yaitu mengkombinasi kedua kategori sebanyak 30% responden.

Abstract

Tactical vehicle bodies require materials with high strength, lightweight properties, and resistance to extreme conditions. This study examined the effects of homogenization, deformation, and artificial ageing on the microstructure, hardness, and potential application of Al-Mg-0.5Si (wt.%) alloy as a tactical vehicle body material. Four different treatments were applied: cold deformation + annealing, T6 (precipitation), T5 (hot deformation + precipitation), and T8 (cold deformation + precipitation). The results showed that homogenization at 400 °C for 4 hours increased the secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS) by 13–18% and reduced hardness from 54.6–60.7 HRE (as-cast) to 43.2–53.4 HRE (as-homo). After quenching (as-quenched), the highest hardness was observed in the T5 treatment at 98.5 HRE, followed by T8 (87.6 HRE) and T6 (71.8 HRE). Under peak aging conditions, T5 treatment achieved the highest hardness of 51.16 HRB after 18 hours of aging at 180 °C, while T6 and T8 reached 45.98 HRB and 44.6 HRB, respectively. These differences were attributed to a combination of strengthening mechanisms: strain hardening, grain boundary strengthening, and precipitation hardening, with Mg?Si as the primary precipitate. The Al-Mg-0.5Si alloy with T5 treatment exhibited a higher specific hardness compared to HSLA steel, 18.9 versus 8.5, respectively. With superior mechanical properties and a lighter weight, this alloy showed great potential as a tactical vehicle body material. However, additional tests, such as ballistic and dynamic deformation tests, are necessary for further validation.

Abstract

Kompresor reciprocating 12K1A adalah mesin mekanik yang menghasilkan gas bertekanan dengan cara dimampatkan. Di PT Kilang Pertamina RU IV Cilacap Area Fuel Oil Complex (FOC I) terdapat 3 buah kompresor reciprocating yang bekerja secara bergantian pada nomor unit 12. Analisis ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performa kompresor 12K1A data desain dan performa sekarang yang diambil dari data aktual 10 hari. Metode yang digunakan ada 3 yaitu Observasi, Wawancara, dan Studi Literatur dengan tujuan mendapatkan data yang akan digunakan untuk penulisan laporan kerja praktik. Kompresor reciprocating 12K1A dalam Fuel Oil Complex (FOC I) yang mana berfungsi untuk mengompresikan gas hidrogen dari tekanan 20 ke 30 yang kemudian disalurkan ke sistem FOC I untuk membantu reaksi katalis di reaktor. Dari perhitungan GHP pada kompresor reciprocating desain menghasilkan 177.2 HP, Kapasitas Kompresor 149.9929 ICFM persilinder, ? Volumetrik 80.1 % per silinder dan untuk data aktual menurun menjadi GHP bernilai 158.5 HP, Kapasitas Kompresor Silinder 1 menjadi 148.869 ICFM dan Silinder 2 menjadi 147.933 ICFM , ? Volumetrik silinder 1 menjadi 79.5 % dan silinder 2 menjadi 79 %. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kinerja kompresor reciprocating 12K1A mengalami penurunan dibandingkan kondisi desain, sehingga diperlukan evaluasi lebih lanjut untuk menjaga keandalan operasi unit.
