Abstract

A lot of industries such as pharmacy, food industry, cosmetics industries use nurmeg oil for their products. Demand of nutmeg oil is very high its abaut 3-4% every year. Indonesia can export nutmeg oil up to 75 % world demands. Nutmeg oil which was expoted by Indonesia was crude nutmeg oil how ever some times have inconsistency quality. In order to produce nutmeg oil with better quality, nutmeg oil intermediate industry is needed. Decision support system is used to suggest the most potential process based on expert opinions. Methodology used was system approach and it was support with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), Exponencial Comparison Method (MPE) and financial feasibility analysis. The system was named SPKIMPA. This system consist four models there are selection model, election model, Institution model and financial feasibility model. From verification result it was know that the most potential process was fractionation. The intermediate industry is feasible to run with Net Present Value (NPV) value Rp 426.627.432,83,- and Internal Rate Return (IRR) value  45.28 %. Another result from verification system was created partnership with upperstream industry and also with downstream industry.

Abstract

International capital markets linkages have been studied since early 90-es.  Most of these studies have mainly focused on the US and other developed markets. There were only a few researches on this topic in the emerging markets.  This paper examines the dynamic linkages among Indonesian and other Pacific-Basin stock markets using correlation analysis, Granger-causality and vector autoregressive (VAR) approach. All the methods give generally similar results. Our empirical results indicate a high degree of international co-movement among the stock price indices.  The degree of integration among these markets after Asian Crisis increased substantially in compare to those before Asian Crisis. The results also show that there are close relationships among the geographically and economically closed markets such as ASEAN markets, New Zealand-Australian and also Hong Kong - South Korea.  The pattern of impulse-response functions illustrates a rapid transmission of stock market events. Shocks in the developed markets are immediately transmitted to other markets. Shocks in the emerging markets are also transmitted to other markets, but without such a big effect comparing to those in the developed markets. The Jakarta stock exchange is strongly correlated with other Pacific-Basin markets, especially with ASEAN markets, Hong Kong and Australia.   The strongest foreign effects for the JSX come from Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand. They can explain about 5 – 8% of error variance of the Jakarta Index. In contrast, the JSX index can explain 3 - 5 % of their error variances.

Abstract

In line with the Prebisch-Singerhypothesis, it is found that the Indonesian farmer terms of trade in aggregatefollowed a negative trend. Spatially, this tendency was mainly the case for theWestern Part of Indonesia, whereas in the Eastern Part of the country, especially in some Sulawesi and Kalimantan provinces, the farmer terms of tradeincreased significantly. This shows a potency to properly expand theagricultural sector in these provinces without risking the relative welfare offarmers to decline. Thus more agricultural development efforts should bedevoted to these regions. The net barter terms of trade for agriculture, whichmay be seen as a proxy of relative welfare of farmers with some accesses toexport/import market, on the other hand, generally depict a non-negative trend. This suggest that in average this group of farmers, or perhaps a group ofagricultural exporters, was less severaly affected by the crisis or crisis-likeevents than the peasant farmers. Therefore, systematic development program, which should be more than a rescue-short-term-demand-side program, is neededwith a main aim to stabilize the relative welfare of the peasant. The analysisalso suggests that Indonesiaagricultural exports are supply determined, which means that eliminations ofsupply bottlenecks and technological advancement leading to a lower unit costrelative to price received are necessary to undertake.

Abstract

Empowerment of social economic resourceprograms must be able to conduct public economy dynamic which be based atvillage or country town. These programs must be able to achieve seven goals, such as rising public income and net export income; founding industrialstructure based on the strength of Small-Medium Enterprises; founding thefoundation of economic transition to industrial age by developing forces ofagribusiness and agroindustrial system; achieving global competitive advantageby increasing productivity, innovation, and effective technology dissemination;increasing quality product as well as the global quality standars; and creatingeconomic development to attain sustainability of high economics activity andperformance and keep sustainable quality environment.Coir processing industry is one of Indonesia isindustrial sub sector which was identified having the ability to achieve thesegoals. Several logical reasons are pointed out, such as that Indonesia has greatest coconut planted areas(about 3.76 Million hectares or 31.4 percent of coconut planted areas in theworld), so that Indonesiaget 24.4 percent of coconut production share in the world. Contrast with coirexport share, Indonesiahas only about 0.6 percent (595 MT) of the world export market share. Untilyear 2000, Indonesiause only about 0.06 potential resources of coir production. So that, TheNational Coir Industry has strategic position ang high prospect will be developedat the next time. This article discuss and describeseveral topics to support the Indonesian Coir Industry Development Program, such as mapping Coir Industrial Development Areas based on the potency ofcoconut production and plated area; economic of Industrial scales analysis, structure of industrial development system, feasibility study (financial andeconomic analysis), Analysis of Domestic Resources Cost, Domestic ResourcesCost Ratio and Affective Rate Protection, Finally, this article describe statedprocess of coir industry development strategy and stated strategyrecommendation to stakeholders.

Abstract

The specific goals of this study were:Firstly, in the long run perspective, the goal is to analyze impact of policythat inflate agriculture price to growth, employment, and investment inagriculture sector. Secondly, in the short run perspective, the goals are: (1)to analyze which economic blocks that have most producing instability toagriculture sector, (2) to analyze behaviour af inflation in agriculture sectorand causality relationship both among output price and input prices and amonginput prices. Quantitative methods used ini this studywere Vector Error Correction Model, Johansen Cointegration Test, and GrangerCausality Test. Data used in this study come from several sources such as BankIndonesia, BPS Statistic, International Financial Statistic and CEIC dataCompany Limited, series data from first monthly of 1993 (1993:01) up to thelast monthly of 2002 (2002:12). In the agriculture sector, production(output) and capital are responsive to change in the output price. This meanthat inflating the output price effectively help generate output and newinvestment in this sector. Nevertheless because shock in price can be source ofinstability to agriculture sector, so government should be carefully applypolicies that can inflating the price in agriculture. To solve unemploymentproblem in agriculture sector, government should apply cost strategy such assubsidy policy of input price.
