Abstract

General Background Leadership in educational institutions strategically defines organizational culture, sustainability, and member loyalty. Specific Background The Al Fattah Buduran Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo transitioned from a traditionally centralized, single-figure leadership model to a distributed, collegial collective leadership framework following the founder's passing. Knowledge Gap Although traditional centralized leadership in Islamic boarding schools is well-documented, empirical studies evaluating how the structural transition toward collegial collective leadership specifically shapes cadre loyalty and organizational sustainability remain scarce. Aims This study analyzes the implementation of the collegial collective leadership model and evaluates its direct contribution to cadre loyalty at the Al Fattah Buduran Islamic Boarding School. Results Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, the findings demonstrate a successful structural transformation. The collective model actively distributes authority, fosters an inclusive culture, and utilizes deliberative decision-making, which significantly strengthens cadre loyalty by generating a deep sense of psychological ownership and affective commitment. However, the study identifies operational challenges, including potential role ambiguity, communication gaps, and differing executive visions that require ongoing cadre capacity development. Novelty This research distinctly integrates distributed leadership theories within a traditional Islamic boarding school setting, providing empirical evidence that collective management directly generates long-term cadre loyalty. Implications Boarding schools must proactively formalize role divisions, synchronize executive visions, and implement continuous cadre training to maximize the benefits of distributed leadership and ensure institutional sustainability. Highlights: Transitioning from centralized to collegial leadership structurally distributes authority and deepens organizational inclusivity. Active cadre participation in deliberative decision-making generates profound psychological ownership and long-term institutional loyalty. Successful collective leadership demands formalized role divisions, synchronized executive visions, and continuous cadre capacity development. Abstract

General Background Character education requires holistic approaches integrating academic instruction and non-formal activities to instill fundamental moral values within students. Specific Background Madrasah Diniyah Al-Islamiyah utilizes extracurricular activities to embed discipline and responsibility into the behavioral habits of its students. Knowledge Gap Although character development through extracurriculars is widely acknowledged, specific qualitative evaluations detailing the systemic application of quality management strategies within informal religious institutions lacking standardized operating procedures remain under-researched. Aims This study investigates the quality management strategies applied within extracurricular activities at Madrasah Diniyah Al-Islamiyah to foster discipline and responsibility among students. Results Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach with triangulation, the findings reveal that quality management relies heavily on consistent scheduling, teacher role modeling, and deeply rooted local cultural values emphasizing seniority. Discipline is cultivated through strict adherence to activity rules, while responsibility is developed by delegating specific roles to students. However, the institution faces significant challenges, including a lack of formalized standard operating procedures, a shortage of qualified supervisors, and evaluation methods that focus solely on attendance rather than measurable behavioral development. Novelty This research specifically highlights how strong local socio-cultural frameworks and participatory responsibility models can successfully drive character formation even in the absence of formalized administrative protocols. Implications Educational institutions must systematically formalize evaluation rubrics and establish standardized operating procedures to reliably measure and sustain extracurricular character development programs. Highlights: Extracurricular discipline is effectively cultivated through consistent scheduling and the habituation of activity rules. Delegating specific roles to students successfully fosters individual accountability and social responsibility. The absence of formalized evaluation rubrics limits the systematic measurement of long-term character development.   Keywords: Educational Quality Innovation, Extracurricular Activities, Character Formation, Student Discipline, Social Responsibility

Abstract

General Background Managing educational institutions demands competent executives capable of maintaining organizational stability and coordinating diverse human resources. Specific Background The theoretical framework proposed by Fred Fiedler postulates that managerial success relies fundamentally on aligning a director's style with specific situational contexts. Knowledge Gap Previous literature predominantly explores general situational management without specifically analyzing this framework regarding differing administrative approaches toward educators compared to operational employees within Islamic schools. Aims This study analyzes the executive management at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sidoarjo using Fiedler's framework, specifically examining the differing approaches applied to educators versus operational personnel. Results A descriptive qualitative phenomenological approach reveals that the executive applies a contextual and flexible style. A task-oriented approach is directed at administrative personnel to manage routine, structured operational duties, whereas a relationship-oriented approach is applied to educators to support professional autonomy and academic creativity. Both groups positively perceive these differing methods because the chosen styles align perfectly with their respective job characteristics. Novelty This research uniquely prioritizes the subjective, lived experiences of subordinates to demonstrate that practical flexibility can coexist with an executive's dominant managerial tendencies. Implications Educational executives must apply contextual management strategies that differentiate between academic and operational personnel to optimize school performance and harmony. Highlights:  A relationship-oriented style supports academic creativity and professional autonomy among educators. Administrative personnel receive strict directives to ensure structured operational stability. Subordinates positively perceive varying managerial approaches when strategies match specific job characteristics. Abstract

General Background The rapid digital transformation of education has fundamentally altered pedagogical interactions and learning environments, making educational technology an essential component of modern instructional design. Specific Background The acceleration of digital integration, spanning blended learning, artificial intelligence platforms, gamification, and learning analytics, requires robust institutional management to ensure these tools effectively foster meaningful learning experiences and sustain student motivation. Knowledge Gap Although numerous studies analyze the relationship between educational technology and learner motivation, most focus narrowly on tool utility or instructional design, neglecting the critical role of systemic institutional management and the underlying psychological mechanisms governing motivation. Aims This study systematically reviews the literature from 2016 to 2026 to analyze how educational technology management determines learner motivation through the lens of Self-Determination Theory. Results Utilizing a PRISMA-compliant systematic literature review of seventy-seven studies retrieved from Lens.org, the findings categorize the literature into five main clusters: blended or online learning, platforms and artificial intelligence, gamification, theory-based studies, and learning analytics. The synthesis reveals that educational technology does not inherently increase motivation; rather, positive motivational outcomes occur only when technology is strategically managed to support meaningful interaction, provide clear feedback, and fulfill the basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Novelty This research shifts the academic focus from viewing technology merely as an instructional tool to framing it as a managed educational process inextricably linked to psychological need fulfillment. Implications Educational institutions must transcend mere technological adoption and strategically manage digital learning environments to actively satisfy learners' psychological needs, thereby fostering sustained academic engagement and self-regulated learning. Highlights:  Educational technology must be strategically managed as a systemic educational process rather than simply implemented as a standalone instructional tool. Sustained learner motivation in digital environments strictly depends on fulfilling the basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The integration of learning analytics provides a critical mechanism for data-driven and pedagogically responsive technological management. Abstract

General Background: Manufacturing competitiveness depends partly on facility layouts that support efficient material flow and control material handling expenditure. Specific Background: PT XYZ’s steel pipe warehouse has widely separated workstations, creating long movement distances and high daily material handling costs. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies cited in the article primarily compared material movement distances, whereas this study also incorporates overhead crane depreciation, maintenance, electricity, and operator cost components. Aims: The study redesigns the warehouse using Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) assisted by the Computerized Relationship Layout Planning (CORELAP) algorithm, based on existing layout data, facility areas, activity relationships, rectilinear distances, and material handling costs analyzed through ARC, ARD, TCR, and CORELAP. Results: The selected proposal reduced the layout value from 3,933 m² to 1,655 m², total material movement distance from 621.2 m to 233.4 m, and daily material handling cost from IDR 670,527.33 to IDR 192,241.82, producing daily savings of IDR 478,285.51. Novelty: The integrated SLP–CORELAP redesign evaluates both spatial movement and detailed overhead-crane cost components rather than distance alone. Implications: The proposed arrangement provides PT XYZ with a practical basis for shorter workstation travel and lower daily material handling expenditure, while future research should incorporate travel time between workstations. Highlights: Workstation travel fell from 621.2 m to 233.4 m. Daily material-movement expenditure dropped by IDR 478,285.51. The proposed arrangement reduced the layout value from 3,933 m² to 1,655 m². Keywords: Facility Layout, Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), CORELAP, Material Handling, Material Handling Cost.
