Abstract

Sidoarjo, known as Indonesia's MSME city, faces productivity challenges in its MSME food cluster due to factors like motivation, salary, competency, facilities, legality, health, and marketing. This study uses a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative and quantitative data, to identify these issues. A fishbone diagram was created with seven variables, and data were collected from 50 MSME actors through questionnaires and interviews. Analysis using SPSS revealed that employee salaries had the most significant impact on productivity, along with issues in operational management, facilities, supply chains, and digital marketing. The study underscores the need for better management, competitive salaries, and enhanced marketing strategies to boost productivity in Sidoarjo's MSME food sector. Highlights: Factors Identified: Salary, competency, and facilities affect MSME food cluster productivity. Data Analysis: Used fishbone diagrams and SPSS to analyze MSME data. Recommendations: Improve management, salaries, and digital marketing for better productivity. Keywords: MSME, productivity, food cluster, fishbone diagram, SPSS

Abstract

This study examines how waiting time and health literacy-sensitive communication (HL-COM) affect patient satisfaction in the executive outpatient unit of Hospital Z. Using a sample of 120 respondents and analyzing data with Partial Least Square (PLS) structural equation modeling, we found that waiting time negatively impacts patient satisfaction. However, HL-COM significantly moderates this effect, mitigating the negative impact of waiting time. These findings suggest that hospital management should focus on both reducing waiting time and improving doctor-patient communication to enhance patient satisfaction. Highlights: Negative Impact: Waiting time significantly reduces patient satisfaction. Moderating Role: HL-COM moderates the effect of waiting time on satisfaction. Management Focus: Reduce waiting time and enhance doctor-patient communication. Keywords: Patient satisfaction, waiting time, health literacy-sensitive communication, hospital management, Partial Least Square (PLS)

Abstract

In the globalization era, companies need high-quality human resources to stay competitive. This study explores the impact of job involvement and organizational commitment on employee performance at CV. ESP Surya Jaya Jember, considering employee satisfaction as an intervening variable. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data from 50 randomly selected employees were analyzed with SPSS. The findings reveal that job involvement and organizational commitment significantly enhance employee performance, while job satisfaction also positively impacts performance but does not mediate the other relationships. These results suggest that boosting job involvement and organizational commitment directly improves employee performance. Highlights: Job involvement and commitment directly enhance employee performance. Satisfaction boosts performance but doesn't mediate other variables. Focus on involvement and commitment to improve performance. Keywords: Job Involvement, Organizational Commitment, Employee Performance, Job Satisfaction, Quantitative Research

Abstract

Induction motors often face issues with large initial currents that can disrupt networks and damage the motors. This study designs a soft starter for single-phase induction motors using an IoT-based Arduino Uno system to regulate initial current surges and enable remote monitoring via the Blynk App. The system uses the AC Light Dimmer module controlled by Arduino Uno and Wemos D1 Mini microcontrollers, with the PZEM-004T sensor detecting current and voltage. Experimental results showed a significant reduction in initial current, averaging 0.48 A and 201.90 V within 10 seconds. Additionally, the system allows for monitoring from up to 16 km away using an Android smartphone, providing an effective solution for managing induction motor performance and ensuring reliable operation. Highlight: Renewable technology for controlling single-phase induction motor initial current. Software and system flowcharts illustrate IoT-based motor control. Significant reduction in initial current demonstrated in induction motor testing. Keywoard: Induction Motors, Soft Starter, IOT, Arduino Uno, Remote Monitoring.

Abstract

In the dynamic realm of automotive engineering, particularly in Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) racing, where vehicle assessment is based on efficiency, motor power, chassis dynamics, and steering, there exists a notable focus on steering system design. This research delves into the conceptualization and component development aimed at aiding automotive mechanics in crafting steering systems for FSAE race cars. Employing Solid Edge 2021 software, the study utilizes the Design of Assembly (DFA) analysis method to streamline the mechanical process. Through DFA analysis, the study assesses various Technical Attributes (TAs) of the steering system, revealing values ranging from 0.548 to 1.765. The ideal steering system ensures that the desired steering input by the driver aligns with the output motion of the vehicle, known as the Ackerman condition. Steering gear mechanisms translate rotational motion into translation and adjust the effort applied to the steering linkage. The study's findings contribute to the advancement of steering system design in FSAE vehicles, emphasizing ergonomic considerations and the utilization of advanced software tools like Catia and Solid Edge 2021 for enhanced performance and safety. Highlight: FSAE steering: DFA analysis enhances design efficiency for racing vehicles. Software aid: Solid Edge 2021 streamlines FSAE steering system development. Ergonomic focus: Design prioritizes driver comfort and vehicle performance optimization. Keywoard: FSAE vehicles, Steering system design, DFA analysis, Solid Edge 2021, Ergonomics

Abstract

Increasing the octane value of fuel can significantly improve engine performance and efficiency. This study explores mixing fuels with different octane ratings to achieve a desired balance of high octane and cost-effectiveness. Fuels with octane numbers 82, 86, 92, and 96 were mixed in various ratios (30%, 50%, 70%) of premium, pertalite, pertamax, and pertamax turbo. Results showed that mixtures like premium and pertalite (octane 85) and premium and pertamax turbo (octane 93) effectively increased octane levels. The study concludes that mixing fuels can enhance octane values and optimize fuel composition for better performance and cost efficiency. Future research could further explore various fuel types and ratios. Highlight: Mixing fuels increases octane rating and engine performance. Optimal fuel composition balances high octane and cost-effectiveness. Significant results with premium and pertamax turbo mixture.
