The objective of the study aims to analyze the implementation of online learning speaking and the advantages of synchronous and asynchronous learning modes at Intensive English class at Languages Development Unit in UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The research applied qualitative approach. The participant of this research was the second group of Intensive English Class. The data was collected from observation, interview and questionnaire. To analyze the data, the researcher used descriptive analysis. The results showed the implementation of online learning at Intensive English class during Covid-19 has been quite effective even though it takes a lot of effort to adapt for both the instructor and the students. The advantages from online learning such as more flexible to learn, train the student become more independent in learning etc.

Teaching English to young learners might be of importance as they are in their golden age; their brains are still flexible so that they are able to learn anything, including language. The objective of the survey research was to find out teachers’ perceptions about the teaching of English to young learners at Elementary Schools in Palangka Raya at digital age 2020/ 2021.The research subjects were five English teachers at Elementary Schools in Palangka Raya. The research instruments were developed in the form of interview and a questionnaire using Google form for collecting the data needed. Description and quantitative were employed to expose the survey results. The results of the study were used to determine the perceptions/opinions of teachers about teaching English to young learners at elementary schools during the covid 19 pandemic in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan.

This study was conducted to investigate the use of social media especially YouTube by students the Non-English Major of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Palangka Raya. It was also to see the impact of using social media especially YouTube to improve their speaking ability. The study design of this study was descriptive qualitative. Fifteen students of the Faculty of Economics were selected as participants to speak in front of a hand phone camera with the topics already prepared. Five online meetings were done to know their progress. The Semi-structured interview was also done to collect the supporting data of deeper information needed. The result showed that the use of social media especially YouTube gave a high impact on the speaking ability of Non-English Major students as seen from their video and deep information from the interview. However, there was various resistance dealing with the efforts to increase their speaking ability, they are psychological factors (less motivated, not confident), environment factor (the relationship with their environment), linguistic factors (finding references, vocabulary selection, speaking style, and gesture). The use of social media especially YouTube might make the students feel easier in overcoming the various resistance to improve speaking ability.

The research purpose is to analyze the problem of errors in the English language used in public area in Palangka Raya. This research method is a qualitative descriptive method. The source of data in this research is from photos of written English language that had taken by the researcher from advertising billboards, place names, commercial shop signs, and public signs on government buildings in public area in Palangka Raya. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that English language errors in the use of spelling and word choice are still found on public area in Palangka Raya. These English language errors can occur due to several factors. The factors that cause English language errors are the influence of the English language that was mastered first, inappropriate English language teaching, and the lack of understanding of English language users towards the language they use. In addition, weakness, lack of attention, and fatigue are also factors that cause language errors.

This research aims to investigate the students’ perception of using Hot Potatoes software as the media of vocabulary exercise at SMKN 2 Palangka Raya, Indonesia. It was qualitative research with five participating students as the participants from grade X OTKP 3. An in-depth semi-structured interview was applied as the data collection technique. The theme-based analysis was used in this study. The finding shows that the students give a positive response to the use of Hot Potatoes. Students’ perceptions while learning using Hot Potatoes are; first, Hot Potatoes is more practical for a vocabulary test. Second, the game can attract the students’ attention to the test. Third, it helps the students to be more motivated in the classroom. This study implies that the use of Hot Potatoes at the tenth grade students in SMKN 2 Palangka Raya can be an alternative for teachers to teach vocabulary and provide fun learning activities for the students.

This research was a collaborative classroom action research study which happened in two cycles. This research aimed to explore whether the students achieve better score in writing a recount text for the eleventh grade students after they taught by using mind mapping and journal at SMA KORPRI Banjarmasin school year 2016/2017. The researcher used qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data were obtained through the interview with the English teacher and the students and the classroom observation during the teaching and learning process. Meanwhile, the quantitative data were the results of the students’ writing before the implementation of the actions (pre-test), while the actions (progress test), and after the implementation of the actions (post-test). The results showed that mind mapping technique and journal helped the teacher in writing class. The result of the interview with the teacher and students showed that the students’ writing ability was improved. The class percentage of posttest showed some improvements for the previous test; the improvement was 54.8395% from the pretest (3.225%) or 29.025% (32.25% - 3.225%). Automatically, it can be said that the Classroom Action Research (CAR) was succeed.

This study was based on the students’ difficulties in writing a narrative text in the form of poor understanding of what a narrative text was and lack of vocabulary. This study, which was conducted at SMKN 3 Banjarbaru, was carried out using a Classroom Action Research design. This study proved the action hypotheses through two cycles. In the matter of the implementation of ‘Picture and Picture’ learning model in the study, the students had the improvement from cycle 1 to cycle 2 in being more active in the learning process, more confident to do the presentation and communication in the group discussion, and having more motivation in the learning process. The teacher also experienced an improvement in the skill of using media and teaching skills in the class. The significant improvement of students’ achievement in vocabulary and ability in writing narrative text could be seen from the increasing average score for vocabulary achievement from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2 which was from 61.42 to 69.76 and for writing achievement which was 68.57 to 69.91. The successful implementation of the use of the learning model was proven from the classical success of the students in gaining more than 75% of the students who were able to reach the KKM of 70, that was 76% of the students of X KK were able to reach the KKM 70 in Cycle 2. This result of the study showed that the implementation of the use of the ‘Picture and Picture’ learning model is very appropriate and effective to improve the students’ vocabulary and ability in writing narrative text.

The research is conducted in order to see the effects of the students’ ability in writing narrative text after watching movie and using mind mapping. The population of this research was the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Palangka Raya in academic year 2015/2016. The number of sample was thirty students. The research design was quasi experimental and there were two groups those who were taught by using Animation movie and by using mind mapping. The data were analyzed by using Paired Sample T Test by IBM SPSS Version 22. The significant value of the data of post-test in the Experimental Group by using Animation Movie was 0.013; as 0.013 < 0,05 Ha then was accepted. The significant value of the data of post-test in the Experimental Group by using Mind Mapping was 0.012; as 0.012 < 0,05 then Ha was accepted. In both Experimental Group by using movie and mind mapping the significant value for post test was 0.014; as 0.014 < 0.05 then Ha was accepted. Therefore, at the significant level of 0.05, there is a significant effect on the ability of the students in writing narrative text after watching movie and using mind mapping.

This research was aimed to explain the implementation of computer and LCD as multimedia and the response of the students on the implementation of computer and LCD as multimedia in the teaching and learning process of English at SMP Negeri 14 Banjarmasin school year 2015/2016. This research was a descriptive case study with a qualitative research design. The subjects of the research are two English teachers who were teaching in the seventh grade, the principal, and the students of the seventh grades from seven classes in similar level. The findings revealed that the implementation of multimedia in SMP Negeri 14 Banjarmasin was about 3 years. This school had Multimedia Room so the English teachers and students can use it based on the schedule prepared. Therefore, the implementation of multimedia as a tool to help the teacher and students in reaching the goals of learning followed some steps such as: Preparation, Implementation, and Follow-up. In implementing computer and LCD as multimedia, the English teachers used Media Player Classic, Power Point, and Internet in Multimedia Room. So, the implementation of computer and LCD as multimedia made the teaching and learning process was easy for all, not just for the teacher but also for students because computer and LCD was one of several things that truly support the teaching and learning process.

The study is conducted in order to see weather there was significant and interaction effect of the ability of the students in reading comprehension of narrative text after using Experience Text Relationship (ETR) and Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS). The population of this study was the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 3 Palangka Raya in academic year 2015/2016. The number of sample was 30 students. Reading comprehension test of narrative text were used as the instrument in order to collect the data needed. The research design was quasi-experimental and there were two group in this study: Experimental and Control Groups. The data were proccessed and analyzed according to folowing the steps: Assigning the groups, giving the pretest to both Experimental and Control Groups, giving the treatments, giving the posttest, and analyzing the data by using Paired Sample T Test by IBM SPSS version 23. The result of this study showed that the value of the data of posttest in the Control Group was 0.095. The significant value of the data of posttest in the Experimental Groups for ETR 0.000 and the significant value of the data of posttest in the Experimental Groups for VSS was 0.000 and in the experimental Group was 0.000. As 0.000 < 0.05. in this study, the hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, at the significant level 0.05, there is significant effect on the ability of the students in reading comprehension narrative text using Experience Text Relationship (ETR) and Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy (VSS).
