Abstract

Cengkareng District, West Jakarta, as one of the most densely populated areas in DKI Jakarta, faces complex socio-economic challenges in the second decade of the 21st century. Modern financial phenomena, marked by the aggressive penetration of Financial Technology (Fintech), specifically Peer-to-Peer Lending (Pinjol) and Paylater features, have created new vulnerabilities among low and middle-income communities. Based on data from the 2019 National Survey of Financial Literacy and Inclusion (SNLIK) by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), there is a concerning gap between the national financial inclusion index reaching 76.19% and the sharia financial literacy index which remains stagnant at 8.93%. This disparity creates a void where the community accesses financial products without adequate understanding of risks and sharia compliance, resulting in widespread "robbing Peter to pay Paul" practices and entrapment in daily interest rates. This community service research, initiated by Dr. Hidayat, MA, aims to deconstruct conventional economic preaching approaches through the implementation of the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. Located at Nurul Hilal Mosque, Kapuk Subdistrict, this research does not merely provide passive counseling but involves active community participation in four dialectical cycles: Mapping (To Know), Planning (To Plan), Action (To Act), and Reflection (To Reflect). The primary intervention focus is replacing theoretical and elitist fiqh contracts with applicable fundamental materials, namely the ontological distinction between Sale and Purchase (Bai') and Usury (Riba), as well as the ethics of Debts (Qardh) in the context of the digital economy. The results show that the PAR approach is effective in building the congregation's critical awareness. The Mapping Phase revealed that 70% of research subjects were unaware that late fees on Paylater applications are a form of contemporary jahiliyyah usury. The Planning Phase produced the "Anti-Default Fiqh" curriculum innovation which translates DSN-MUI Fatwas into market language. The Action Phase through the "Muamalah Clinic" successfully mediated the settlement of debt disputes amicably, while the Reflection Phase gave birth to social institutionalization in the form of the "Productive Infaq Movement" based on Ta'awun. This research concludes that the economic empowerment of the ummah cannot be conducted top-down but must grow from collective consciousness regarding the theological and sociological dangers of the usury system.

Abstract

The modern lifestyle of urban Muslim women in the Bintaro area, South Tangerang, has undergone a fundamental paradigm shift in the last decade. Cosmetics and skincare are no longer viewed merely as aesthetic commodities but have transformed into constitutive elements of social identity. However, this phenomenon presents an epistemological paradox: amidst high consumption rates, there is a significant literacy gap regarding critical halal points and the technical implications of products on the validity of worship (thaharah). This research, designed as a research-based community service report, aims to empower the congregation of Masjid Jami' Bintaro Jaya to transform from passive consumers into smart consumers with theological and scientific awareness. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with a cycle of Planning, Action, Observation, and Reflection, this study intervenes in the community's mindset through a participatory andragogy approach. Field findings in the pre-intervention phase revealed that 70% of participants prioritized brand image and public figure testimonials over halal certification legality. Through strategic actions such as the "Cosmetic Bag Dissection" workshop and simple scientific experiments on water permeability in cosmetic products, a radical cognitive shift occurred. Participants were not only able to identify critical ingredients like porcine collagen and human placenta but also built a collective defense mechanism through the "Cosmetic Hijrah" movement. The study concludes that the PAR approach is effective in bridging the gap between state regulations (Halal Product Assurance Law) and daily consumption practices, as well as repositioning the mosque as a center for progressive halal lifestyle education amidst the national regulatory transition period of 2019-2020.

Abstract

This research is a comprehensive report on a community service program conducted at the Arrahman Cidadap Islamic Boarding School, Sukabumi. The primary focus of this study is an in-depth analysis and assistance in the implementation of the National Sharia Board-Indonesian Council of Ulama (DSN-MUI) Fatwa Number 153/DSN-MUI/VI/2022 concerning the Early Settlement of Murabahah Financing Debt, which revises the old paradigm of Fatwa Number 23/DSN-MUI/III/2002. This research is motivated by academic and practical concerns regarding the low literacy of the boarding school's financial managers regarding the legal shift from a "voluntary" nature (jawaz) to "mandatory" (wujub) in providing discounts (muqassah) for customers who settle their debts early. Using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, this research involved the active participation of the boarding school's cooperative administrators in three cycles: problem mapping, educational action, and system institutionalization. The research findings indicate that prior to the intervention, murabahah practices at the Arrahman Cidadap Boarding School tended to ignore the principle of distributive justice, where the profit margin was still taken in full even though the financing duration was significantly reduced due to early settlement. Through a dialogical PAR approach, the community service team successfully reconstructed the understanding of the asatidz and financial managers that muqassah is not merely a reduction in profit, but a theological mandate to uphold the principles of al-'adalah (justice) and al-maslahah (public interest) to avoid ghubn (unilateral loss) and consuming wealth unjustly. The final result of this community service is the establishment of a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that integrates a proportional calculation formula in accelerated settlements, which has been proven to increase the trust of the students' guardians and the institution's liquidity. This report recommends the need for massive socialization of the latest DSN-MUI fatwas to the economic bases of the ummah in rural areas to prevent a gap between sharia idealism and field reality.

Abstract

This research report presents a comprehensive analysis regarding the urgency and implementation of financial governance transformation at Pondok Pesantren Attaqwa, Bekasi, in response to national regulatory dynamics and modernity demands. This study is motivated by the enactment of Law Number 18 of 2019 concerning Pesantren and the effectiveness of the Interpretation of Financial Accounting Standards (ISAK) 35 on January 1, 2020, which changed the financial reporting landscape of religious-based non-profit entities in Indonesia. Using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) methodology, this program aims not only to standardize financial reports but also to build the economic independence of the pesantren through internal asset optimization. Field findings indicate that despite technical literacy challenges and paternalistic cultural resistance, Pesantren Attaqwa possesses strong social capital and economic assets—including the rapidly developing Pesantren-Owned Business Entity (BUMP)—to transition from trust-based accounting towards system-based accountability. This report recommends an accounting pedagogy approach based on fiqh analogy to bridge the understanding gap among asatidz, as well as the institutionalization of foundation internal regulations to ensure sustainable, transparent, and accountable governance.

Abstract

This Community Service activity focuses on optimizing communication strategies in promoting hydroponic education at XFarm House, South Tangerang. The background of this activity stems from the limited effectiveness of existing hydroponic education promotion by XFarm House, thus necessitating an analysis and strengthening of targeted communication strategies. The problem statement for this activity encompasses three main aspects: what are the current communication strategies for hydroponic education promotion implemented by XFarm House what are the inhibiting and supporting factors in hydroponic education promotion communication, and which communication media or channels are most effective in reaching the target audience in the Pamulang area within the context of education. The implementation method was carried out through a participatory approach with stages including observation, interviews, communication situation analysis, and training on digital media-based promotion strategies. The results of the activity indicate that the communication strategies used are still conventional and have not fully utilized the potential of digital media. Supporting factors identified include community enthusiasm for urban farming and an educative environmental setting, while inhibiting factors include limitations in human resources and media management capabilities. Through this activity, the community service team successfully assisted XFarm House in designing more effective and audience-needs-based communication strategies, enabling hydroponic education promotion to run more optimally and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) in instilling keluarga sakinah values as a preventive approach to divorce in Tegalombo District, Pacitan Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving married couples, religious leaders, and Islamic counselors. Data analysis was conducted using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that PAI plays a significant role in strengthening family resilience by internalizing values such as patience, responsibility, mutual respect, communication, and deliberation in marital life. However, the implementation of these values remains suboptimal, as religious education is still predominantly focused on ritual aspects rather than practical relational skills, including conflict management and emotional regulation. Economic pressures, lifestyle changes, and the influence of digital media further complicate the application of keluarga sakinah values in everyday family life. The study also finds that religious leaders and Islamic counselors contribute positively to conflict resolution, although their roles tend to be reactive and not yet integrated into sustainable family development programs. This study concludes that strengthening PAI as a preventive strategy requires a more systematic, contextual, and integrative approach involving families, religious institutions, and local communities.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance the understanding of Qur’anic interpretation among members of the Lembata Student Association (HIMALE) in Bogor through mentoring in the practical teaching of Tafsir Jalalain. The program employed a qualitative descriptive-participatory approach and was conducted through a series of activities, including public lectures, thematic sermons, group discussions, interactive question-and-answer sessions, and participant-led tafsir presentation practices. Data were collected through direct observation, field notes, participant reflections, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively to evaluate the effectiveness of the mentoring process. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ basic knowledge of tafsir, their ability to relate Qur’anic verses to everyday life, and increased confidence in explaining the meanings of verses using the simple and concise style of Tafsir Jalalain. In addition, the program strengthened religious learning culture and Islamic brotherhood within the organization. These findings suggest that Tafsir Jalalain is an appropriate introductory reference for Qur’anic interpretation learning among university students with diverse religious backgrounds, although further sustainable and long-term mentoring programs are recommended to achieve deeper and more systematic tafsir studies.

Abstract

The escalating environmental degradation requires active involvement from all societal elements, including Islamic higher education institutions. This article examines a community service program of tree planting conducted on February 8, 2026 in Kalincar Subdistrict, Selogiri, Wonogiri Regency. The activity engaged a Field Supervisor  and students from the Islamic Education (PAI) and Elementary Teacher Education (PGMI) departments of Institut Islam Mamba’ul ‘Ulum (IIM) Surakarta in a participatory-educative greening action. The implementation method prioritized active community involvement and the integration of Islamic values, in line with a participatory educational approach. The results show that 20 tree seedlings (of gayam, matoa, tabebuia, and glodokan species) were planted with enthusiastic participation of local residents. The community not only benefited from a greener environment, but also gained ecological education grounded in Islamic teachings, such as hadiths on planting trees and the concept of humans as stewards of the earth. The public response was very positive and appreciative, as evidenced by strong support and commitment to care for the planted trees. The integration of Islamic values such as the divine trust (amanah) to protect nature and the spirit of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) through planting strengthened environmental character building for both students and residents. In conclusion, this Islamic values-based greening program effectively raised ecological awareness and built a campus-community partnership in environmental conservation. Similar activities are recommended to be continuously developed as a form of Islamic higher education’s contribution to addressing environmental crises.
