Abstract

Community health cadres in Cikakak Village lack adequate knowledge about empowerment programs for the elderly to promote social entrepreneurship, with a predominant condition where young elderly individuals in Cikakak Village generally experience memory decline, occasional excessive worries, and a lack of self-confidence. There are 30 cadres who received training in Cikakak Village. The goal of empowering the elderly is to serve as a stimulus for them to develop a positive spirit and motivation regarding the importance of social entrepreneurship, thereby creating social value through collaboration among individuals, organizations, and communities as a form of social innovation. This allows for the establishment of a simple yet meaningful relaxed lifestyle mindset as a manifestation of a slow living lifestyle in Banyumas Regency. The methodology used is quantitative. This collaborative movement is carried out through several stages, including training, the establishment of discussion forum groups, and mentoring of posyandu cadres as facilitators. The results of the empowerment show an average increase in productivity of 69, sustainability of 82.5, equity of 79.5, and empowerment of 7.0 among the cadres in the context of social entrepreneurship thinking and efforts to implement a slow lifestyle in Banyumas. The existence of procedures and rules for the happy empowerment program is outlined in the cadre guidebook and has successfully established a pioneer discussion forum for the elderly in Cikakak village.

Abstract

The development of electric vehicles in Indonesia requires the readiness of mechanics with specialized competencies in maintenance and repair. However, most motorcycle workshop mechanics in the Soloraya region still have limited knowledge and skills. This community service program aims to enhance the competence of mechanics through electric vehicle training and certification. The program was conducted at the Automotive Workshop of Politeknik Indonusa Surakarta in collaboration with Wuling Motor Indonesia, involving 20 participants from various motorcycle workshops. The training materials covered electric motor systems, batteries, battery management systems (BMS), and high-voltage occupational safety. The implementation methods included theoretical delivery, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice in electric vehicle maintenance and repair. The results indicated improved participants’ understanding, as shown by pre-test and post-test evaluations, and further reinforced by the awarding of competency certificates. This activity not only provided direct benefits for workshop mechanics but also supported the acceleration of battery-based electric vehicle implementation in line with government programs. Through this training, mechanics are expected to adapt to the development of automotive technology, enhance the competitiveness of local workshops, and contribute to sustainable transportation development in Indonesia.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the understanding and implementation of zakat calculation according to the Minister of Religious Affairs Regulation (PMA) No. 52 of 2014 and to develop an effective zakat distribution model at the Arrahman Islamic Boarding School in Cidadap, Serang, Banten. The identified problem was a lack of in-depth understanding among the school's administrators regarding contemporary zakat calculation standards, as well as a suboptimal distribution model that had yet to sustainably empower beneficiaries (mustahik). The method used was a participatory approach through socialization, training, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The results of the activity showed a significant increase in the administrators' knowledge and skills in calculating zakat correctly, as evidenced by the increase in the average post-test score to 80 from an initial 55. Furthermore, a hybrid distribution model was successfully formulated, combining consumptive aid for urgent needs with productive programs aimed at empowerment. This program is expected to enhance the accountability of zakat management and maximize its positive impact on community welfare.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the backbone of the Indonesian economy, yet they face significant structural challenges, particularly the limited access to productive land. This article analyzes the potential, challenges, and strategies for utilizing abandoned land to enhance MSME profitability, based on a participatory case study in Cimanuk District, Pandeglang. This study employed a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, participant observation, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). The findings indicate that abandoned land possesses significant potential as a community asset that can be activated for productive economic activities such as hydroponic agriculture, medicinal plant cultivation, and local crafts. However, its utilization is hampered by systemic barriers, including limited access to finance, low technical skills, complex regulatory hurdles, and inadequate infrastructure. The research concludes that overcoming these challenges requires an integrated, multi-stakeholder collaborative strategy involving local government, financial institutions, and the community. The Cimanuk model demonstrates that activating underutilized local assets not only increases MSME income by up to 30% but also contributes directly to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to poverty reduction, food security, and decent work.

Abstract

The digital literacy gap among santri (Islamic boarding school students) regarding digital zakat and waqf poses a challenge to optimizing Islamic philanthropy in the modern era. This community service program aims to enhance santri's knowledge, skills, and awareness of the concepts, mechanisms, and security of digital zakat and waqf transactions. This activity employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-test/post-test design involving 45 santri at Arrahman Cidadap Islamic Boarding School. Data were collected through a knowledge test questionnaire before and after the counseling session, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired-sample t-test. The results indicated a statistically significant increase in understanding. The participants' mean score rose from 45.70 on the pre-test to 82.50 on the post-test, with a significance value of (p <.001). This finding proves that an interactive and applicative counseling program is effective in bridging traditional fiqh understanding with modern digital competencies, positioning it as a strategic empowerment model for the pesantren community.

Abstract

MSMEs contribute significantly to the national economy, but still face the challenge of low financial literacy, particularly sharia finance. This community service activity aims to improve MSMEs' understanding of digital sharia financial literacy, both regarding digital sharia financial products and the dangers of non-bank online loans and online gambling. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used in this MSME mentoring. In addition to distributing questionnaires using a linkert scale, educational interventions and interactive discussions were conducted to improve MSMEs' understanding of digital sharia financial literacy. The subjects who received mentoring were MSME business owners fostered by Rumah BUMN Sidoarjo. The results of this activity showed a significant increase in MSME understanding, reflected in four indicators after receiving mentoring. These indicators are knowledge of sharia financial products, interest in using sharia financial products, understanding the dangers of non-bank online loans, and understanding the dangers of online gambling. This activity proves that mentoring MSMEs through digital sharia financial literacy can improve MSME financial resilience in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the role of BUMDes Sawit Mandiri in Cibubukan Village, Aceh Singkil, as a concrete effort to promote community empowerment and economic independence at the village level. Emerging from a context of stagnant socio-economic conditions, low village revenue, and underutilized assets, BUMDes was established to manage local potential—particularly palm oil plantations in a professional, participatory, and sustainable manner. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that community participation is a key determinant of BUMDes’ success, although challenges persist due to limited information access, residents’ work constraints, and insufficient communication between local government and the community. The study also highlights that the success of BUMDes is not solely measured by its economic outcomes but also by its ability to foster collective awareness, strengthen accountability, and reinforce local social structures. Therefore, BUMDes Sawit Mandiri functions not only as a village business unit but also as a transformative social institution with the potential to achieve local economic sovereignty when managed under the principles of participation, transparency, and community empowerment.
