Abstract

EFFECT OF TURNING  FREQUENCY AND EGG POSITION ON HATCHABILITY OF CHICKEN EGGS (Gallus gallus Domesticus). This study aimed to determine effect of turning frequency and egg position on the hatching ability of chicken eggs. Study was conducted using 162 eggs of local hens inserted into hatching machine withcapacity of 300 eggs and implemented for 24 days. The experimental design of the completely factorial randomized design was applied consisting of 9 treatments and 3 replications. The two treatment factors were turning frequency consisted of 2 times a day, 3 times a day, 4 times a day, and egg position of 300, 600, and 900. The results of the analysis show that the effect of the turning frequency did not show a significant effect (P>0.05) on hatchability. However, egg position had a significant effect (P<0.5) on hatchability. There was no interaction between turning frequency and egg position againt hatchability and mortality. The conclusion of this research was the turning frequency of 2 times  a day with egg slope position of 300 produced high hatchability and low level of mortality. Keywords : Egg turning frequency and position, hatchability, local hen.

Abstract

UTILIZATION EFFECT OF COCONUT OIL IN RATION ON BODY WEIGHT, PERCENTAGES OF CARCASS AND ABDOMINAL FAT IN SUPER NATIVE HENS. This study was conducted to evaluate utilization effect of coconut oil in ration on body weight, percentages of carcass and abdominal fat in super native hens. This study was involving hundred unsexed super native hens at ages of eight weeks with the average initial body weight of 862.24 g ± 44.13 g. The treatments were ration without coconut oil (CO) utilization (R0), ration of 99.5% basal added with 0.5% CO (R1), ration of 99% basal added with 1% CO (R2), ration of 98.5% basal added with 1.5% CO (R3), and ration of 98.0% basal added with 2.0% CO (R4). The completely randomized design was applied as design with five treatments consisted of five replications at each treatment. Each experimental unit was put four heads of super native hens. The significant treatments were tested by Duncan’s test. Variables measured were life body weight, slaughter body weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage as well as abdominal percentage. Results showed that utilization effect of coconut oil in ration had the same effects on percentages carcassand abdominal fat, but had significant effect on life body weight and carcass weight. Therefore, it was concluded that utilizatilization of coconut oil up to 2 percents in ratio increased life body weight and carcass weight. Keyword: carcass weight, coconut oil, super native chicken.

Abstract

OVARIAN RESPONSE OF ONGOLE CATTLE GRADE AND LIMOUSINE CATTLE BREED ON THE FOLLICLE STIMULATING HORMONEINDUCTION.Objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) utilization and follicle wave synchronization on ovarian response and transferred embryo. This study was using secondary data of embryo products at “Balai Embrio Ternak Cipelang-Bogor”. Data were taken using types of donor female, day and date conducting super ovulation, semen code, number of corpus luteum, numbers of embryo grades (A,B,C,D), numbers of transferred embryo and numbers of unfertile ovum. This study involved Limousine and Ongle grade cattle cows experiencing in super ovulation process, with body condition scores of 3.0 to 4.0, fed grass and nutritious concentrates. The FSH was used in super ovulation by the institution called Folltropin-Vand PGF2alfa (Lutalyse). Semen was originated from bull used by the embryo transfer institution. Results showed that number of left and right luteum corpus (LC) inducing FSH were not significantly different on both cattle breeds, but number of left LC of FSH induction was significantly higher at Limousine Breed. The quality of embryo successfully transferred using FSH induction was significantly higher compared with degenerative embryo and unfertile in both cattle Breeds. The quality of degenerative embryo and unfertile egg cell was not significantly different in both breeds. Proportions of embryo successfully transferred were 85.4 percents in Ongole Grade 87.4 percents in Limousine Breed. The values of Response rateshowing comparison of female donor number responding to the number of female done of super ovulation were 100 percents. Values of recovery ratein both Breed cows showed also 100 percents. Keywords: Follicle Stimulating Hormoneinduction, ovarian response, Limousine cattle Breed, Ongole cattle Grade.

Abstract

THE GROWTH OF BENGAL GRASS (Panicum maximum cv. Jacq) GIVEN BIO-SLURRY FERTILIZER OF PIG. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of bio-slurry fertilizer on the growth of Bengal grass. This study uses organic material fertilizer derived from biogas from pigs for the growth of Bengal grass. A completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments had been used for data analysis. Treatments design as follows: B0: without fertilizer application, B1: 10 tons / ha (25 g / polybag), B2: 20 tons / ha (50g / polybag), B3: 30 tons / ha (75 g /polybag) and was conducted in four replications. The results showed that the treatment of Bio-slurry fertilizer have a very significant effect (P <0.01) on plant height, number of leaves, and number of seedlings. Application of bio-slurry fertilizer for pigs on Bengal grass (Panicum maximum cv. Jacq) up to a dose of 75 grams / polybag in B3 treatment produced the best growth with plant height of 114.44 cm, number of leaves 10.06 strands, and number of 3.00 seedlings..Keywords: growth, bengal grass, bio-slurry.

Abstract

DIGESTIBILITY OF THE ORGANIC MATTER, CRUDE FIBER AND CRUDE FAT IN BROILERS RATION CONTAINING PUMPKIN WASTE MEAL (Cucurbita moschata). A research was done to determine the digestibility values of feed in term of organic matter, crude fiber and crude fat containing pumpkin waste meal (PWM) fed to broilers. The research was conducted by involving 20 unsexed broilers, strain CP 707 at 5 weeks old with an average body weight of 1073 g. Experiment design of the Completely Randomized Designed (CRD) was applied with 4 treatments and 5 replications at each treatment. Honestly significant difference test (HSD) was used to define higher significant effects of the treatments. The treatments consist of 100% basal ration (BR) + 0% PWM (R0), 95% BR + 5% PWM (R1), 90% BR + 10% PWM (R2) and 85% BR + 15% PWM (R3). Results showed that digestibility of crude fiber was significantly affected by treatments (P<0.01), but digestibility values of organic matter and crude fat were not influenced by these treatments. The statistical test showed that the crude fiber digestibility of R0 (56.92%) was lower than those of R1 (63.10%), R2 (67.71%) and R3 (66.30%). Furthermore, there was no difference among digestibility values of  R1, R2 and R3. Based on this research, it can be concluded that pumpkin waste meal could be utilized to replace some parts up to 15% in ration of broilers. Keyword: Pumpkin waste meal, digestibility, broiler
