Abstract

ABSTRACT EXTENSION PROGRAM EVALUATION IN CATTLE FARM BUSINESS AROUND INONSAYANG DISTRICT, SOUTH MINAHASA REGENCY. Sinonsayang district is located in the regency of South Minahasa consisted of 13 villages and area size of 12,960 ha. Generally, Sinonsayang communities were living as farmers / ranchers. The highest populations of cattle were focused in 3 villages around Sinonsayang district including Blongko Village, Ongkaw II and III Villages (296 cattle). The problem of this study was how far the success of extension program in terms of improving education of BP3K for cattle population in the district of Sinonsayang, South Minahasa Regency. The objective of this study was to evaluate the implementation of extension activities around Sinonsayang district, South Minahasa regency. The research was conducted in January to February, 2014 using survey method at the 3 sampling villages with the highest cattle population. The respondents were farmers and ranchers who were randomly targeted for outreach assigned to 30 people (respondents). Research and data collection were done during 2 months. The data in this study were obtained from two sources (primary data and secondary data). Method of purposive sampling was done intentionally. The use of this technique was based on certain characteristics obtained through the population. The results in this study indicated that the extension was not successfully and effectively done by BP3K, because the extension service can only reach few numbers of breeders. Therefore more farmers had less motivation to breed their cattle population. Keywords: Evaluation, Extension, Livestock Cattle

Abstract

THE EFFECT OF THE USE OF PAPAYA LEAVES SUBSTITUTED TO BASAL DIET ON THE PERCENTAGE OF CARCASS AND ABDOMINAL FAT PERCENTAGE OF BROILER CHICKEN. This study aims to determine the effect of papaya leaf meal substituted to basal diet on the carcass weight, percentage of carcass, and abdominal fat of broilers. This study used 80 unsexed broilers, day old chick (DOC). The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The arrangement of the experimental treatments was as follows: R₀ = 100% basal diet (BD), 0% papaya leaf meal (PLM), R₁ = 95% BD + 5% PLM, R₂ = 90% BD + 10% PLM, R₃ = 85% BD + 15% PLM. The results showed that partial replacement of the basal diet with with papaya leaf meal had no significant effect on carcass weight and the percentage of broiler abdominal fat. The treatment gave a very significant difference on the percentage of carcass. On carcass percentage results showed that R0 was highly significant different from R3 but not significantly different with R2 and R1. Treatment R1 was significantly different from R3 but not significantly different from R2, whereas between treatments R2 and R3 were significantly different. Based on the results of this study it can be stated that the use of papaya leaf meal up to level of 15% can produce a good proportion of carcass and abdominal fat. Keywords: broiler, papaya leaf meal, carcasses, abdominal fat.

Abstract

UTILIZATION EFFECT OF MOLASSES AS ENERGY SOURCE IN THE DIETS ON GROWING RABBIT PERFORMANCE. Molasses had been used previously in animal feeds. The present study was conducted to determine the effect of molasses utilization in the diets on growing rabbits. The study was conducted during five weeks at Department of Animal and Feed Science Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Sam Ratulangi, Manado. Twenty eight-weeks weaned female rabbits with an initial body weight of 600 -700 gr were used in this trial. Animals were allocated in an individual cage. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications was used for analysis of variance. Treatments were formulated as follow: R0 = 100% basal diet + 0% molasses; R1 = 98% basal diet + 2% molasses; R2 = 96% basal diet + 4% molasses; and R3 = 94% basal diet + 6% molasses. Variables measured were daily feed consumption, water consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion. Research results showed that average daily feed consumption in the present study ranged from 58.1 to 60.4 g; daily water consumption from 127.2 to 163.8 liters; daily gain from 20.1 to 20.9 g; and feed conversion ratio of about 3.57 to 3.80. Statistical analysis revealed that utilization of molasses replacing part of basal diets up to 6% gave no significant differences on daily feed consumption, water consumption, daily gain, and feed conversion ratio.  It can be concluded that molasses as an energy source can be utilized up to 6% in growing rabbit diets without any negative effects. Abstract

EFFECT OF REPLACEMENT SOME RATIONS WITH FLOUR YELLOW PUMPKIN WASTE (CUCURBITA MOSCHATA) AGAINST PERFORMANCE BROILER. This study aims to determine   the extent of the partial replacement of rations with pumpkin waste flour (Cucurbita moschata) as measured by broiler performance. Using 100 unsexed broiler Cobb 707 aged 1 day with average body weight ± 45.32 g. The design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment composition is as follows: R0 = 100% basal ration (RB) + 0% pumpkin waste flour (TLLK), R1 = 95% RB + 5% TLLK, R2 = 90% RB + 10% TLLK, R3 = 85% RB + 15% TLLK.  Results of analysis of variance showed that the dissecting treatment was not significant (P>0.05) for the consumption, weight and conversion of ration The use of pumpkin waste flour can replace a portion of the ration up to 15%.Key words: Performance, waste pumpkin, broiler.

Abstract

THE EFFECT OF BIRTH WEIGHT WITH THE APPEARANCE OF THE PIGLETS UNTIL WEANING. The purpose of this research is to determine the corellation of birth weight with the appearance of the piglets until weaning. This research used the method of observation. Results or data obtained in this research, piglets from each parent is divided into 3 categories: high, medium, low. Retrieval of data held on a new born piglets, piglets aged 1 week until the time of weaning. Parameters observed in this research is the birth weight of piglets per head, body weight gain, the weight of piglets, and mortality (MRTA) piglets before weaned (%). Data were analyzed and presented descriptively, which is describing and explaining the general picture of direct observation. Based on the results of this research we concluded that litter size piglets, determines how high the birth weight, weaning weight, body weight gain, and mortality. The greater the birth weight more likely to obtain a high weaning weight as in this research the highest birth weight is 1.64 kg after weaning reached 7.54 kg. Abstract

SENSORICAL QUALITY AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF CHICKEN NUGGETS WHICH IS ADDED PURPLE ROAD UBI FLOUR (Ipomoea batatas L). This study aims to determine the benefits of using purple sweet potato flour (Ipomoea batatas L) on the sensory quality and physical properties of chicken nuggets. The research was carried out in 3 stages, namely (1) making purple sweet potato flour, (2) making chicken nugets with the addition of purple sweet potato flour, (3) testing chicken nuggets including sensory quality testing using 35 untrained panelists to measure the level of acceptance of aroma, color, texture and taste, physical properties test to determine water binding power and cooking losses. This research was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design with 4 additional treatments of purple sweet potato flour, namely P1 = 10 g, P2 = 20 g, P3 = 30 g and P4 = 40 g, each treatment was repeated as many as 35 (panelists) for the test. sensory quality and 5 replications for physical characteristics test. Data from the observation of sensory quality test, physical properties were tabulated and analyzed by analysis of variance (Ansira) and if there were significant differences between treatments, it was continued with Duncan's multiple test (DMRT). The results of the research with analysis of variance showed that the addition of 10, 20, 30 and 40 grams of purple sweet potato had a very significant effect (P <0.01) on color, texture, water-binding capacity and cooking loss but had no significant effect. (P> 0.05) on aroma and taste. The results of Duncan's multiple further test showed that the P4 treatment of 40 g of purple sweet potato gave the best results on color, texture, water binding power and cooking loss. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that the addition of 40 g of purple sweet potato flour in the manufacture of chicken nuggets provides good sensory quality and physical properties.Keywords: Chicken nuggets, purple sweet potato flour, sensory quality, physical properties

Abstract

THE QUALITY OF CHICKEN NUGGET FORTIFICATED BY SOYBEAN FLOUR ON INCREASING DIETARY FIBER. This research aimed to determine the effect of soy bean flour as fortification ingredient to increase dietary fiber products to chicken nuggets. The meat used for nuggets chicken was taken chest. Soybeans are used as a fortification ingredient for the product of chicken nuggets. This experiment using a completely randomized design with five treatments consisting of a treatment R0 level 0% of soybean of the meat composition of 400 g (0 g of soybean and 400 g of meat), R1 level of 5% of soybean of the meat composition (20 g soybean and 380 g of meat) R2 level of 10% of soy bean of the meat composition (40 g of soybean and 360 g of meat), R3 15% of soy bean of the meat composition (60 g of soybean and 340 g of meat), R4 level 20% soybean of the meat composition (80 g of soybean and 320 g of meat). Each treatment was conducted three replications. If there was a difference of average in the analysis of variance then to DMRT test. The results showed that fortification with soy beans in chicken meat had a significant on the water holding capacity and fiber dietary, while the pH of the meat is not significant. The conclusion of this study that 80 grams of soy bean flour fortified in 320 grams meat can be used for the product chicken nuggets because it can increase the content of dietary fiber.Keywords: chicken nugget, soybean flour, dietary fiber

Abstract

ABSTRACTPROFIT ANALYSIS OF PRODUCER FOR ROASTED PORK AT TUMINTING DISTRICT OF MANADO(Case Study at Simponi Roasted Roll Pork Business). Study was done to evaluate profit of roasted Roll Pork business in Tuminting district of Manado. Study was conducted on February 1 to 28, 2019. Data were collected based on case study with survey method. Data were analyzed by descriptive method to describe the profit of Simponi roasted roll pork trade. Results showed that owner characteristic of Simponi roasted roll pork trade was categorized into productive age with education level of high school and the experience of 12 years on roasted roll pork trade. Processing of roasted roll pork was initiated of slaughtering and dressing carcass of entrails with the whole intact body condition. The whole carcass body condition was sticked using roll sticker from mouth to the anus part of animal. Parts of mouth and four legs were tied into sticker. The whole animal body and stomach area were lubricated with cooking spices. These entire spicy lubricated carcasses under sticker were roasted above warmer fire done under rolling sticker. The white skin color was gradually changing into red-brownish color and soft tender skin indicating well done roasted roll pork. The well done roasted roll pork was wraped and ready to be served on dish of food offered to the consumers. The total cost spent providing roasted roll pork at Simponi were IDR 353.843.447 per year.-. The total revenue were IDR 508.200.000 per year.-. Therefore, the profits were IDR 154.356.553 per year.

Abstract

Capung merupakan kelompok serangga yang termasuk dalam filum arthropoda dan tergolong dalam ordo odonata. Keanekaragaman capung dalam ekosistem memiliki peranan yang besar seperti: sebagai salah satu komponen keanekaragaman hayati yang memegang peranan penting dalam rantai makanan, sebagai musuh alami, dan sebagai indikator kualitas lingkungan perairan. Sungai Rayow merupakan salah satu habitat capung. Sungai ini terletak di desa Kembes, Kabupaten minahasa, Provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis keanekaragaman jenis capung di sungai Rayow, Kembes, Minahasa. Prosedur penelitian yang digunakan meliputi survey lokasi penelitian, menentukan titik pengambilan sampel, pengambilan sampel, dan identifikasi di laboratorium dengan menggunakan buku identifikasi. Penelitian dilapangan menggunakan metode purposive random sampling. Analisis data meliputi kelimpahan (N), indeks kekayaan jenis (R), indeks Keanekaragaman jenis (H’), dan indeks kemerataan (E). indeks keanekaragaman jenis menggunakan indeks Shanon-wienner. Hasil penelitian ditemukan kelimpahan capung yang ditemukan di sungai Rayow sebanyak 1002 individu, yang terdiri dari 2 sub ordo, 6 familli, 13 genus, dan 21 jenis capung. Indeks keanekaragaman jenis capung tertinggi ditemukan di sungai Kawasan hutan sekunder sebesar 2,67 selanjutnya diikuti sungai area perkebunan 2,57, dan indeks keanekaragaman terendah ditemukan disungai Kawasan pemukiman 2,28. Kesimpulan berdasarkan penelitian capung yang ditemukan di sungai Rayow, Kembes, Minahasa terdiri dari 21 jenis capung. Indeks keanekaragaman capung tertinggi ditemukan pada stasiun 1 yaitu di sungai ekosistem hutan sekunder 2,67 kemudian diikuti oleh sungai Kawasan perkebunan 2,57 dan yang terendah ditemukan di sungai area pemukiman 2,28. Indeks keanekaragaman jenis capung di sungai Rayow, Kembes, Minahasa dikategorikan keanekaragaman sedang.Kata kunci: Capung, Indeks keanekaragaman, Sungai Rayow

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pendapatan pedagang daging babi di Pasar Tradisional Kota Pematangsiantar pada masa pandemi Covid-19. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Penentuan lokasi sampel di Pasar Horas dan Pasar Parluasan menggunakan metode Purposive Sampling. Jumlah pedagang di kedua pasar yaitu 40 pedagang, dimana 17 pedagang dari Pasar Horas dan 23 pedagang dari Pasar Parluasan. Seluruh pedagang daging babi di kedua pasar ini dipilih menjadi responden (Total Sampling). Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif serta menggunakan analisis regresi data panel. Pendapatan pedagang daging babi mengalami penurunan sebesar 36 % pada saat pandemi Covid-19. Berdasarkan hasil analisis regresi dapat disimpulkan bahwa biaya pemasaran, jumlah pembeli dan dummy covid-19 berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pendapatan pedagang sedangkan curahan waktu kerja tidak memberikan pengaruh yang singnifikan terhadap pendapatan pedagang daging babi di Pasar Tradisional Kota Pematangsiantar.Â
