Abstract

Management strategies and leadership models can influence employee performance and productivity. Competent human resources are crucial assets for the stability and growth of the banking sector. HRD employees play a vital role in managing human resources in the banking industry. Research on HRD employees is necessary to analyze the impact of management strategies on performance and productivity. Empowering leadership is one leadership model believed to enhance employee engagement, knowledge sharing, and innovative behavior. The primary objective of this study is to examine the role of empowering leadership in increasing these behaviors. The study's respondents consisted of 175 HRD employees from private banking industries in Indonesia. The data were processed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Several findings from this study indicate that empowering leadership positively influences employee engagement and innovative behavior. Additionally, knowledge sharing has a positive effect on innovative behavior. However, empowering leadership does not have a direct positive impact on knowledge sharing unless mediated by employee engagement. Moreover, empowering leadership positively affects innovative behavior when mediated through two sequential mediators: employee engagement and knowledge sharing. The managerial implications of this study suggest that implementing an empowering leadership model can foster recognition, emotional support, and career development, thereby enhancing employee engagement. This, in turn, motivates employees to share experiences and information, which can support their creativity.

Abstract

This study examines teachers’ and students’ perspectives on the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in English language learning at SMPN 6 Kota Kediri, Indonesia. Adopting a qualitative descriptive design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two English teachers and six purposively selected students from different classes. Thematic analysis indicated that the curriculum promotes flexibility, creativity, and student-centered learning through projects, group discussions, and the use of interactive media. Teachers valued the autonomy to adapt instructional content to students’ interests and needs, while students appreciated the variety and engagement of learning activities. Nevertheless, several challenges were identified, including limited vocabulary, difficulty understanding instructions in English, low classroom participation due to shyness, inadequate learning facilities, and disparities in student ability levels. A notable perception gap emerged, with teachers believing that creativity and autonomy were sufficiently embedded, whereas some students perceived their learning needs as unmet. The findings underscore that successful implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum requires clear instructional guidelines, equitable resource allocation, differentiated teaching strategies, integration of interest-based learning, and ongoing professional development for teachers. This study contributes to the discourse on curriculum reform in junior secondary education and highlights the necessity of aligning policy intentions with classroom realities.

Abstract

Intense competition within the low-cost carrier (LCC) industry has shifted the strategic focus from price superiority towards enhancing service quality and passenger satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of the operational process of baggage handling in shaping passenger satisfaction by examining the mediating role of Service Quality. Employing a quantitative approach with the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method, data were collected via a questionnaire from 100 respondents, who were predominantly young passengers (under 25 years old) and university students. The findings indicate that Baggage Handling has a direct, positive, and significant influence on both Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction. Furthermore, Service Quality is also proven to have a positive and significant effect on Customer Satisfaction. The most critical finding is the confirmation of the partial mediating role of Service Quality in the relationship between Baggage Handling and Customer Satisfaction. This result implies that baggage handling possesses a dual role: as a component in shaping service quality perceptions and as a direct driver of satisfaction. For LCC managers, this finding underscores the importance of managing baggage handling as a strategic service touchpoint, with practical implications including investment in automated baggage systems, real-time tracking technology, and staff training programs to effectively enhance passenger satisfaction and competitive advantage.

Abstract

Contents (Information) presented in financial statements are still doubtful as to whether investors use them when making decisions and consider them as a basis for analyzing investment returns. This study aims to analyze the impact of contents (information) of financial statements on expected stock returns through the existence of external auditors. Using path analysis on a sample of 104 observations from companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2017–2018 across five key industrial sectors, the study finds that only working capital has a significant direct effect on expected stock returns. The presence of an external auditor did not significantly mediate the relationship between any of the financial variables and expected returns. These findings imply that investors prioritize working capital information over other financial metrics and that external assurance alone may not enhance the perceived value of financial statements. Companies should, therefore, improve the clarity and consistency of financial disclosures to strengthen investor confidence.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is an important commodity in Indonesian cuisine for cooking spices and chilli sauce. Sambal is in demand as a condiment with a spicy taste. Lu'at is a typical chilli sauce from Timor, East Nusa Tenggara which is used as a condiment with a spicy taste, which is prepared by traditionally fermenting chillies, lime, salt, and other additional ingredients. One type of fermentation is fermentation with lactic acid bacteria (LAB). This research aims to determine the total number of lactic acid bacteria and the pH value of lu'at fermented with different salt levels and fermentation times. This research used two factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), namely salt content (G) (0%, 5% and 10%) and fermentation time (F) (0, 7 and 14 days) with 3 repetitions. The data obtained was analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and if there were significant differences then it was continued with the Turkey Test. Lu'at is made from a mixture of crushed cayenne pepper, lime slices (Citrus aurantifolia), and basil leaves (Ocimum basilicum) in a ratio of 150:10:5. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the average total lactic acid bacteria between treatments with 5% and 10% salt content (P>0.05). In contrast, there was no significant difference (P<0.05) in the treatment with fermentation time and the interaction between salt content and storage time. The average total lactic acid bacteria were significantly different in the 5% and 10% salt content treatments (p>0.05). At the same time, there was no significant difference (p<0.05) based on fermentation time and the interaction between salt content and storage time. The highest total of lactic acid bacteria was in the treatment with a salt content of 5% and a fermentation time of 7 days (4.3 x 107 CFU/g). The pH value in lu'at fermentation was not significantly different in all treatments (p<0.05) with an average pH value range of 3.57 – 3.98.

Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of cyberbalkanization that arises from debates between Indonesian netizens regarding the Blackpink concert and the term "Fomo" used to describe the behavior of non-fans who attended the concert. This study aims to highlight the importance of awareness of the phenomenon of cyberbalkanization and how this can affect the dynamics of interaction between groups on social media, especially in the context of cyberbullying behavior, hate speech, and fragmentation of views among netizens who interact with each other on social media platforms. That way it can be related to the research title of the researcher, namely cyberbalkanization and polarization that occurs between Blackpink fans and non-fans, caused by the "Fomo" phenomenon which was carried out by many non- fans during the Blackpink concert in Jakarta, which both groups need to be aware of. because it can affect the dynamics of interaction between groups on social media. This study uses text analysis as a data collection method, involving seven informants who are fans and non-fans of Blackpink, and considers comments on social media about "Fomo" at Blackpink concerts. This research also refers to previous literature reviews related to cyberbalkanization, polarization on social media, and communication within the Blackpink fan community. This phenomenon resulted in a polarization of views among netizens who were divided into two camps with different perspectives regarding the presence of non-fans at concerts.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder frequently accompanied by obesity as a physical comorbidity. The coexistence of these conditions worsens clinical outcomes, increases the risk of metabolic complications, and reduces treatment effectiveness. This study employed a bibliometric analysis to explore global research trends, key themes, and gaps in the literature on obesity and schizophrenia. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database in May 2025 using the keywords “obesity and schizophrenia,” yielding 4,890 relevant articles. VOSviewer software was used to visualize connections among keywords, authors, countries, and journals. Results indicated a significant rise in publications since 2005, with the United States as the leading contributor. The most frequent keywords included antipsychotic-induced weight gain, metabolic syndrome, and lifestyle intervention. The analysis revealed a strong association between schizophrenia, obesity, and the metabolic effects of antipsychotics, while research on clinical trials and negative symptoms remains limited. These findings highlight the urgent need for interventional and multidisciplinary approaches that integrate psychiatric and metabolic care. Such strategies are crucial to improving both clinical outcomes and the quality of life of patients with schizophrenia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of product quality and brand image on repurchase intention of LUTA dehumidifier products distributed by PT. Dwi Mitra Teknindo. The research background is based on the increasing demand for dehumidifiers in Indonesia after the Covid-19 pandemic, along with the challenges faced by the LUTA brand in building a positive image amid consumer perceptions of Chinese-made products. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive-causal research design. Data were collected through surveys of LUTA consumers in several major cities in Indonesia and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to examine both direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The findings indicate that product quality has a positive and significant effect on repurchase intention, both directly and through brand image as a mediating variable. Brand image also plays a crucial role in strengthening consumer loyalty towards LUTA products. These results highlight the importance of improving product quality and enhancing brand image as strategic efforts to retain existing customers and support sustainable business growth.

Abstract

The National Police's Food Crime Investigation Task Force (Satgas) has named three suspects in the case of alleged production and circulation of premium rice not in accordance with quality standards by PT Padi Internasional Makmur (PT PIM) which markets the Sania, Fortune, Sovia, and Siip brands. The determination of suspects was carried out after examining witnesses, experts, and laboratory tests that showed violations in the production and packaging process. Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that the government responded to this case with a plan to eliminate the classification of premium and medium rice, so that only two categories remained, namely ordinary rice and special rice with certain permits such as Pandan Wangi, Basmati, and Japonica. This study uses normative legal research methods through the analysis of law, jurisprudence, and legal doctrine, especially related to commercial law and political law. According to the author, the practice of oplosan rice has an impact on the community's economy and has the potential to increase poverty rates, as revealed by the Central Statistics Agency. Facts on the ground show the weak quality control at PT PIM, with only one certified officer out of 22 employees. For his actions, the suspect can be charged with the Consumer Protection Law and the Money Laundering Law with the threat of severe punishment. This case shows that the circulation of oplosan rice threatens legal certainty, justice, and community welfare, and causes unrest because the rice consumed is not in accordance with quality standards
