Abstract

Chewing the betel leaf is a proses of concocting a mixture of several ingredients such us betel leaves, areca nuts and gambier were known to provide a refreshing teste, overcoming stress and believed can strengthen teeth and gums. In addition, these plants also suspected of having antibacterial potential. This research was conducted to determine the ability of combination of betel leaf extract, areca nut and gambier against Streptococcus mutans. This research was experimental by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 8 treatments which is P0 (aquadest), P1{combination of betel leaf extract, areca nut and gambier (3:3:3)}, P2 (3:2:3), P3 (3:1:2), P4 (1:2:3), P5 (2:1:3). P6 (1:3:2) dan P7 (2:3:1). Microbiology test using was diffusion method. Based on results of Anova showed that combination of betel leaf extract, areca nut and gambier greatly effect the growth of Streptococcus mutans (P = 0,000). Duncan further test results showed that the largest average diameter of inhibition zone is indicated by P1 which is 29,50 mm and not significantly different from P2 (26,0 mm) and P3 (26,25 mm) but significantly different from P4 (18,25 mm), P5 (21,5 mm), P6 (18,75 mm) and P7 (21,75 mm). While the smallest average diameter of inhibition zone is indicated by P4 (18,24 mm) and not significantly different from P5 (21,50 mm), P6 (18,75 mm) and P7 (21,75 mm) but significantly different from P1 (29,50 mm) and not significantly different from P2 (26,0 mm) and P3 (26,25 mm).

Abstract

Teratogenic is an abnormal development on embryo and is the cause of congenital defect or birth defect. This study aims to determine the effect of the addition of Dioscorea alata L. ethanol extracts to the embryo development on pregnant mice whose given orally to 24 mice which divided to 4 treatment groups, they are the normal group (NG) with NaCMC 0.5%; 28 mg/KgBB treatment group; 35 mg/KgBB; 42 mg/Kg BB. The addition of Dioscorea alata L ethanol extracts was done on the sixth day until the 15th day of pregnancy. On the 18th day of pregnancy, Laparaktomi was done to the pregnant mice and the embryo was taken out of the uterus. The observation was done to the fetus numbers, weight weighing of the fetus's body, dan length measurement of the fetus's body. Another observation is the observation of the external organ defect of the embryo. The study results that the addition of Dioscorea alata L ethanol extracts with various doses have no significant effect (P>0.5) to the mice external fetus development. On the examination of the fetus, we can conclude that Dioscorea alata L ethanol extracts don’t give any effect that may cause the defect of the fetus’ external organ.

Abstract

The prevalence of DM in Riskesdas in 2018 according to the Perkeni consensus in 2015 is higher than according to the Perkeni consensus in 2011, the prevalence was10.9%. The disease can develop into diabetes nephropathy, Increased prevalence of diabetic nephropathy directly proportional with an increase in diabetes prevalence. Diabetic nephropathy is a microvascular complication in diabetics that develops around 30% in patients with type I DM and about 40% in patients with type II DM. Turmeric extract has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects to prevent the bad development of diabetes nephropathy. This study looked at the effect of giving a combination of noni and turmeric extract on histopathology of alloxan-induced renal rats. A total of 25 mice were divided into 5 treatment groups, namely the PI group (250 mg / kgBB extract dose), PII group (500 mg / kgBB extract dose), PIII group (750 mg / kgBB extract dose), positive control group (glibenklamid) and negative control group (without extract and glibenklamid). The study used Post Test Only Group. The highest percentage decrease in blood glucose in the PI group was 56.11% and the lowest decrease in the PIII group was 24.12% with p = 0.012. The results of the study were not based on the number of extract doses. The measurement results of rat body weight and glomerular diameter were not affected by blood glucose level with p = 0.700 for body weight and p = 0.187 for glomerular measurement results.

Abstract

Napza is a substance or drug that affects the body, especially the central nervous system, causing psychological disorders and social functions due to habits, addiction (addiction) and dependence. Pharmacy coaching emphasizes two-way communication tailored to the uniqueness of the individual. Pharmacy coaching interventions have the potential to reduce the severity of addiction in outpatient drug rehabilitation patients. The aim of this study was to determine whether there was an improvement in the severity of addiction in Napza outpatient who received pharmacy coaching intervention by pharmacy students. This research method is one group pretest-posttest design using primary and secondary data. The study was conducted in February - April 2020, at the Sambang Lihum Mental Hospital, South Kalimantan. Population are NAPZA rehabilitation patients undergoing outpatient treatment, sampling using consecutive sampling method, which meets the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Tools and instruments are data collection sheets, in the form of patient characteristics data sheets and WHO ASISST V3.0 questionnaire. Data were analyzed with SPSS version 16.0 using parametric paired t-test. Based on the research, the results showed that pharmacy coaching interventions in outpatient NAPZA by pharmacy students, proved significant improvements to the severity of addiction. The results of pre-intervention and post-intervention value respectively were 59.75 and 19.75, with a difference in the decrease (Δ) 40 points (P = 0.001).

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the profile of poisoning in children in the emergency department of Yogyakarta city tertiary hospital. The study was conducted retrospectively by taking data based on the medical records of children in 2016 - 2017. The research subjects were children with an age limit under 12 years. Total cases of poisoning in children in the emergency department of Yogyakarta City tertiary hospital in 2016 were 8 cases and in 2017 there were 11 cases. Most cases of poisoning occurred in 13 boys (68.4%) with an age range of 6 - 12 years 9 (47.4%). Poisoning cases occur predominantly in children who have not attended school 14 (73.7%). The cause of poisoning was successively due to animal bites of 11 cases (57.9%); drug 4 (21%); pesticide 2 (10.5%); food and household products - 1 case each (5.3%). The use of antidotes in this study was for 6 cases (31.6%). The profile of poisoning in children in the emergency department of a tertiary hospital in Yogyakarta is predominantly male (68.4%) with an age range of 6-12 years (47.4%) and not yet educated (73.7%). The dominant cause of poisoning is animal bites (57.9%) and drugs (21%).

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the deadliest diseases in the world. As many as 1 billion people in the world or 1 in 4 adults suffer from this disease.In fact, it is estimated that the number of hypertension sufferers will increase to 1.6 billion by 2025. Based on data from Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018, the prevalence of hypertension is based on measurement results for people aged ≥ 18 years in South Kalimantan, ranking number 1 in Indonesia. This result increased from the data in 2013 the prevalence of hypertension was 30.4% to 44.1%. Patient behavior by controlling the patient's blood pressure will improve the patient's quality of life. The purpose of this study was to assess the initial data on the application of the effect of pharmacist brief counseling in improving behavior, medication adherence, therapy outcomes and quality of life for hypertensive patients at Ulin Banjarmasin Hospital. The study was a quasi-experimental study using two groups with prospective patient data collection with inclusion and exclusion criteria. The exclusion criteria were pregnant, deaf and absent patients at the second visit. Data collection comes from medical records and is carried out by interviewing then filling out a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS Version 16. The results of the study were on cognitive (0.408), affective (0.000), psychomotor (0.240) patient behavior; compliance (0.096); quality of life (0,000); Systolic BP (0.588) and Diastolic BP (0.626).

Abstract

Sembukan plants (Paederia foetida L.) are wild vines that are usually used by people as potential medicinal plants for pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the ethanol extract of sembukan’s herbal analgesic activity in male white mice (Mus musculus) and determine the optimal dose of the ethanol extract from sembukan’s herbal (Paederia foetida L.) which has the potential as an analgesic. Sembukan’s herbal is extracted with 70% ethanol solvent and an analgesic activity test is divided into 5 treatment groups namely positive control group (potassium diclofenac), negative control, dose I (80 mg / kg body weight), dose II (160 mg / kg body weight) ) and dose III (320 mg / kg body weight) by oral administration. Thirty minutes after administration, the mice were given an indicator of pain, 0.5% acetic acid. Analgesic power is calculated by counting the amount of stretching of mice for 1 hour. From the results of the study, the ethanol extract of sembukan’s herbal has analgesic activity in male white mice with percent dose analgesic power 35.18%, dose II 53.58% and dose III 68.98%. The optimal dose that has potential as an analgesic in male white mice is dose III with 68.98% analgesic power.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This review aims to determine the types of bases that can be used every day, which are effective and efficient as anti-inflammatory drugs. The research method used was to review the development of clove essential oil formulations that have been carried out using various concentrations of various types of bases including M / A type cream, A / M type cream, water soluble base, lotion, emulgel, hydrocarbons, hydrogels and absorbents. The recommended formulation is type M / A cream with a concentration of 5% clove flower essential oil. The types of bases studied were M / A cream, type A / M cream, water soluble base, lotion, emulgel, hydrocarbons, hydrogels and absorption properties which had good physical properties and did not irritate the skin of the test animals. This review refers to several national and international journals released in the last ten years, from 2010 to 2020.

Abstract

Freycinetia sessiliflora Rizki is a plant that has secondary metabolites, namely alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids-steroids, saponins, phenols and tannins. This study aims to determine whether there is inhibitory and concentrated ointment extract of thick pandanus leaf of the forest that can inhibit the growth of Stapylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Inhibition testing was carried out by disk diffusion method with different concentrations of 5% and 10% concentrations made 9 ointment formulas with a variety of 3 bases namely hydrocarbon base, absorbency base and water soluble base. The results of inhibitory measurements of ethanol extract ointment leaves of pandanus leaves are good or have the greatest value to the smallest inhibitory effect on the growth of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria with an average diameter of inhibition at F6 of 4.11 mm, F1 of 2.78 mm, F3 of 2.68 mm, F5 of 2.47 mm, F4 of 2.25 mm, F2 of 2.23 mm, F7 of 1.29, F8 of 1.13 and F9 of 0.86 mm.

Abstract

Free radicals give a negative effect. According to earlier research, Spyrogyra and Ulva lactuca L. have an anti-oxidant activity. This research aim to knowing the extract potential of green algae (Ulva lactuca) with variety concentration solvent as anti-oxidant by DPPH method, and finding the price of IC50 ethanol extract which compared with Galat acid. Extraction technic was maseration with ethanol solvent 60%,75%, and 96% which is implemented a qualitative test of extract active compound of U. lactuca Antioxidant activity of U. lactuca extract measured with spektrofotometri by using DPPH (1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil) method to get percentation of free radical resistor. The analytical result using SPSS, statistically got 95% credibility (p=0,05). This research showed that activity of antioxidant ethanol extract 96% of U. lactuca was higher than ethanol extract 60% and 75%. Activity of antioxidant ethanol extract 60%,75%, and 96% which confirmed by value of IC50 continously are 441,70 mg/ml ; 242,10 mg/ml dan 2,04 mg/ml. Whereas the value of IC50 galat acid standard is 3,92 x 10-3mg/ml. Based on tests of conducted antioxidant activity, the gallic acid has a strong antioxidant power, U. lactuca have a very weak antioxidant power
