Abstract

Downsizing is the most popular strategic choice in organizational change, especially in the private sector. The strategy often chosen in downsizing is reducing employees, eliminating structure and function to produce efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness. However, a study is needed to elaborate on the concept of downsizing. The purpose of this research is to map the downsizing concept, describe how this strategy is implemented, its dynamics and development, as well as the effectiveness level of downsizing strategy. This research takes the form of a systematic literature review, which involves an assessment based on articles/publications related to downsizing. Downsizing articles are sourced from the Scopus database, and then mapped based on the number of articles per year, authors, countries, affiliations, and sponsors. As a result, the goal of downsizing has not been supported by strong evidence in the field because downsizing and efficiency do not have a strong correlation. Indeed, downsizing results in negative impacts on both organizations and employees. His mistake was to put the strategy of reducing employees and financial efficiency as the main goal. Therefore, downsizing must be part of a paradigmatic organizational change strategy and not merely serve as a short-term strategy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors that influence the operational performance of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT.KAI at Head Office in Indonesia using IPMA analysis on SmartPLS. This research develops theoretical aspects of understanding digitalization in Indonesia, which consists of supply chain capability variables mediating between digitalization and digital connectivity. Additionally, the study explores the roles of digital culture and technological turbulence as moderators influencing operational performance. Then, there is digital connectivity that will affect operational performance. This study uses a quantitative method with data sources derived from surveys through the distribution of online questionnaires to 48 Employees in the Logistics Department. The data analysis technique used is SEM-PLS and IPMA Analysis using SmartPLS software. Digitalization exhibits the greatest impact on operational performance in the presence of a mediating variable, which is the supply chain capability of PT. As supported by the IPMA analysis, KAI (Persero) at the Head Office indicates that digitalization holds the highest performance value compared to other variables—the management of PT. KAI must focus on digital culture, supply chain capability, and technological turbulence in conjunction with digitalization. This approach is crucial to ensure the company implements the Rapid Apps and maintains operational performance consistently. The study is the first study conducted to analyze the factors that influence operational performance in PT. KAI, so that it can be a reference and additional reference on academic knowledge and managerial aspects.

Abstract

This research focuses on the issue of whether investment knowledge and minimum investment capital have a significant influence on investment interest in Pontianak City. The main objective is to analyze the impact of investment knowledge and minimum investment capital variables on investment interest in the capital market in Pontianak City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a population of all investors in Pontianak City, totalling 38,014 investors. The research sample consisted of 100 investors who were selected deliberately (Purposive Sampling). The analysis method in this research uses multiple linear regression analysis, classical assumption testing and hypothesis testing. The results of multiple linear regression analysis show that the regression equation is Y = 31.980 + 0.398X1 – 0.033X2. The correlation coefficient shows an R-value of 0.245, which shows the weak relationship between investment knowledge and minimum investment capital on investment interest. The coefficient of determination shows an R2 value of 0.060, which means that 6.0% of investment interest can be explained by investment knowledge and minimum investment capital. In comparison, other variables not examined in this research influence the remaining 94.0% of investment interest. The results of the simultaneous Test (F test) show that investment knowledge and minimum investment capital simultaneously influence investment interest. The Partial Test (t-test) results on investment knowledge show that investment knowledge has a partially significant effect on investment interest. For minimum investment capital, it can be concluded that minimum investment capital does not have a significant effect on investment interest.

Abstract

Effective communication regarding the risks associated with electronic cigarettes is a crucial part of efforts to control their usage, and incorporating elements of fear is an effective method to achieve proper regulation. This research, utilizing content analysis methodology, examined three online news articles from Indonesian news portals: Kompas.com, IDNTimes.com, and Detik.com. The study aimed to describe how online news conveys the dangers of using electronic cigarettes using the Extended Parallel Process Model (EPPM). The research method employed was content analysis. EPPM explains how people manage the fear evoked by threat messages. There are two key factors that can explain how individuals respond to fear messages. The first factor is the perception of threat, consisting of the severity and vulnerability to the threat. The second factor is the perception of efficacy, consisting of response efficacy and self-efficacy. The research findings indicate that online news coverage prioritizes the perception of threat. Conversely, the aspect of efficacy perception still needs to be applied in reporting the dangers of electronic cigarettes. These results are also influenced by ethical codes, journalistic principles, and cultural influences.

Abstract

The median nerve at the wrist becomes crushed in a condition known as carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), which causes pain, numbness, and tingling in the worker's hand's palm. Risk elements for CTS include things like uncomfortable body posture at work, repetitive hand motions, and vibration exposure. Reviewing prior research on the connection between CTS and potential risk factors such worker hand posture, exposure to hand-arm vibrations, and repetitive hand movements is the goal of this study. The research approach involves searching for relevant articles using the terms carpal tunnel syndrome AND (occupational risk factors OR uncomfortable posture OR hand-arm vibrations OR repeated hand movements) in databases like ScienceDirect, PubMed, ResearchGate, and Scopus. The study indicates that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is related to repetitive hand movements, hand-arm vibrations, and awkward hand posture during work. This research implies the importance of awareness about occupational safety. Additionally, the study suggests that job designs considering repetitive hand movements, vibrations, and incorrect posture can reduce the risk of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Therefore, it is hoped that organizations and workers can collaborate to create a safer, healthier, and more productive work environment.

Abstract

As one of the world's largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, Indonesia has set a target for zero carbon emissions by 2060. However, these targets and the derived efforts have not been accompanied by adequate understanding among the Indonesian populace. This research aims to comprehend and analyze the concept of zero carbon emissions in Indonesia. Employing a qualitative approach with content analysis methodology, the study discovered that one of the causes for this lack of understanding is the ineffective messaging concerning 'zero carbon emissions' in Indonesia. The symbolic constructs created do not align with the intended messages, in line with the recommendations for effective environmental communication concepts, encompassing aspects such as message types, functions, word choices, genres, relevance, and consistency. This research implies an enhancement in public awareness regarding the concept of zero carbon emissions in Indonesia. The outcomes of this study can also provide insights to the government and environmental organizations to formulate more effective policies in communicating the message of 'zero carbon emissions.' By implementing these recommendations, environmental communication regarding the concept of zero carbon emissions in Indonesia can become more effective, motivating individuals to actively participate in efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Abstract

Employee performance has a very important role in the success of a company. Employees who have good performance will help the company achieve its goals and vision, but not all have good performance; some employees only meet sufficient criteria, as happened with the employees of RM SME Regional Office Jakarta 1 PT. Plat Merah Berwarna Biru Bank. This research aims to analyze the role of reward system variables in moderating the influence of leadership style, organizational Culture, and organizational commitment on employee performance. This research is categorized as causality research with a quantitative approach. The sample was determined using a simple random sampling technique. Research data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 145 samples. Data analysis was carried out using the partial least squares method through the SmartPLS version 3 program. The research results show that each variable of leadership style, organizational culture, organizational commitment, and reward system directly has a significant effect on employee performance. The reward system can only moderate the influence of organizational culture on employee performance, but the reward system has yet to moderate the influence of leadership style and organizational commitment on employee performance.
