Abstract

This study was motivated by the evolving role of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) as not only religious educational institutions but also as economic entities managing various business units to achieve financial independence. Despite this progress, many pesantren still face challenges in establishing professional and structured financial governance systems. This study aims to analyze the financial governance practices in the business units of Pondok Pesantren Al-Ittifaq Bandung and to identify a model of financial management based on spiritual values. The research employed a qualitative case study approach using in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document analysis. The results indicate that financial planning remains conditional, reporting is conducted simply without adopting Sharia accounting standards, and financial supervision relies on internal trust-based mechanisms. The key finding of this study is the emergence of a spiritual-based financial governance model that integrates trust (amanah), accountability, and efficiency within pesantren business management. This study contributes empirically to the development of a professional and sustainable Sharia financial governance framework. Keywords: financial governance, Islamic boarding school, accountability, Sharia accounting, good financial governance.

Abstract

Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) have significant potential to support rural economic, however, many NTFP products remain trapped in low-value chains. Currently, there are still limited research has integrated digital, market, financial, and entrepreneurial literacy to explain market opportunity recognition in the NTFP context. This study aims to synthesize the role of these literacy dimensions in supporting market opportunity recognition among communities, business groups, and NTFP cooperatives. The main research question is: how does literacy influence the ability of NTFP actors to recognize and utilize market opportunities? This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by PRISMA 2020. A total of 44 Scopus-indexed articles were analyzed through thematic synthesis. The findings show that digital literacy improves access to market information and online marketing; market literacy strengthens understanding of consumer demand; financial literacy supports risk management and business decision-making; and entrepreneurial literacy promotes innovation and value creation. Self-efficacy and managerial behaviour serve as key mediating mechanisms, while gender and digital infrastructure act as contextual factors. The novelty of this study lies in developing the Literacy-Based Market Opportunity Recognition for NTFPs framework, which positions literacy as a strategic capability for transforming NTFPs from subsistence products into market-oriented and sustainable value-added products. Keywords: Digital Literacy; Market Literacy; Financial Literacy; Entrepreneurial Literacy; Market Opportunity Recognition.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the local wisdom of Panglima Laot as a manifestation of food security and as a supporter of tourism in coral reef conservation in Sabang City, Aceh. The study used a qualitative approach involving 25 informants consisting of traditional leaders, village officials, local communities, and tourists. Data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and literature studies, then analyzed descriptively. The results of the study indicate that the local wisdom of Panglima Laot plays an important role in maintaining food security through various customary rules, such as the existence of Panglima Laot as a leader, uroe pantang melaot (days prohibited from going to sea), and the adat laot that regulates fishing activities, including the concept of sustenance and social norms when going to sea. In addition, this local wisdom also supports tourism through the regulation of conservation areas, including prohibitions in protected zones, sanctions for violations, and other specific rules. The efforts of the Sabang City government, such as the construction of marine conservation monuments and the installation of customary information boards, have helped raise public awareness in maintaining marine ecosystems. The sustainability of coral reefs is important because environmental damage has an impact on the decline in the number of tourists and the income of local communities. Abstract

Sexual violence in Islamic boarding schools is often viewed as an individual behavioural deviation, and responses to this problem tend to focus solely on the perpetrator. This study aims to examine sexual violence in Islamic Boarding Schools as a systemic phenomenon resulting from the interaction among direct, structural, and cultural violence based on the perspective of Johan Galtung’s theory of violence. This research used a qualitative approach, applying a case study design to Islamic Boarding Schools in West Java. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with perpetrators, Islamic Boarding School’s administrators, regional Ministry of Religious Affairs officials, and women’s activists, supported by limited observation and analysis of court-ruling documents. The data was analyzed thematically by linking empirical findings to the frameworks of direct, structural, and cultural violence. This study also analyzed the prevention of sexual violence in Islamic Boarding Schools. The results showed that sexual violence in Islamic Boarding Schools did not only include sexual harassment and exploitation by authority figures (direct violence) but also violence caused by the hierarchical, closed, and minimally supervised structure of Islamic Boarding Schools (structural violence), and violence legitimized by patriarchal cultural values, victim stigma, gender-biased religious interpretations, and a culture of excessive respect for kyai or spiritual leaders (cultural violence). To prevent sexual violence in Islamic Boarding Schools, it is essential to enhance institutional oversight, safeguard students, and foster a cultural shift. This study confirms the applicability of Galtung’s theory in understanding violence within religious-based educational settings and recommends a comprehensive, multidimensional prevention strategy. Abstract

This study examines how religious modernization and the politics of gender representation intersect within the context of digital media in post-Reform Indonesia. This research aims to understand the transformation of Indonesian Muslim women’s religious authority through the lenses of mediatization, feminist theology, and politics of representation. Based on a literature review and qualitative observation, the findings indicate that social media provides new spaces for women to claim and negotiate religious authority. This phenomenon is reflected in the emergence of popular “female ulama” who deliver critical da’wah, challenging traditional patriarchal interpretations. Platform logic (likes, shares, comments) enables ordinary Muslim women to become new religious references, making authority increasingly dependent on public support rather than formal positions. The visual and narrative politics of representation employed by these female preachers influence perceptions of piety; women are portrayed as egalitarian and empowering agents, countering patriarchal cultural constructions. This study also traces the role of inclusive interpretations within Islamic feminist theology (for example, the thought of Amina Wadud, which affirms gender equality in sacred texts) in digital da’wah practices. The findings reveal a dualism: on the one hand, religious modernization through digital media opens space for more progressive gender reinterpretations; on the other hand, online religious authority remains vulnerable to market logic and viral trends, which may oversimplify religious teachings. These findings highlight the complexity of contemporary women’s religious transformation in navigating the challenges of modernity and mediatization. Abstract

Existing studies on Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP) tend to focus primarily on teachers’ instructional practices, with limited attention to the simultaneous examination of both teachers’ and students’ understanding, particularly in remote and culturally diverse regions. This study aims to analyze the level of understanding and implementation of CRP among senior high school teachers and students in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. A convergent mixed-methods design was employed. Quantitative data were collected through a structured CRP questionnaire administered to students, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with three teachers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis supported by NVivo software. The findings indicate that most students demonstrate an advanced level of understanding of CRP principles. Teachers exhibited varying levels of competence, with one teacher reaching an exemplary level in curriculum integration and structural inequity prevention. These results suggest that CRP implementation in East Nusa Tenggara has progressed significantly; however, sustained institutional support and deeper critical reflection remain necessary to achieve systemic and long-term impact.

Abstract

Tourism Supply Chain Management (TSCM) has received increasing attention because of its contribution to efficiency, resilience, and sustainability in tourism systems. Nevertheless, significant differences persist between developed and developing countries, particularly in governance capacity, technology adoption, and behavioral responses among stakeholders. Unlike earlier studies that mainly focus on operational and technological aspects, this study highlights the behavioral dimensions that shape tourism supply chain practices across different regional contexts. This study aims to compare the development of TSCM research in developed and developing countries through bibliometric and thematic analysis. A mixed-method approach was employed using 87 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025. Bibliometric mapping with VOSviewer was used to identify thematic clusters, regional collaboration patterns, and methodological trends, while qualitative synthesis was applied to interpret the emerging themes. The findings show four main themes: sustainability governance, risk and crisis management, technological innovation, and stakeholder integration. Developed countries tend to apply more integrated and technology-based models, whereas developing countries continue to face fragmented governance, behavioral resistance, and digital inequality. The study concludes that inclusive and behaviorally responsive policy frameworks are needed to support more resilient and equitable tourism supply chains. Keywords: Behavioral Science, Bibliometric Analysis, Sustainability, Technological Innovation, Tourism Supply Chain Management
