Abstract

Without  the provision  of differentiation  service  for gifted students,  the program would be so called gifted student without gifted program. The predicted danger that would arise for gifted students  in normal  service is that the students experience underachievement;  therefore, it is necessary to apply the differentiated- curriculum model for gifted students. This article describes not only a curriculum model that is used in the school with its gifted students program or acceleration class but also the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the model. The method used was a combination model of RDR  (research,   development,   research) with R2D2 (recursive, reflective, design, and development) with     adaptations,   modifications, and/or  a particular   transformation.  The data were gathered through documentation of   data   collection   techniques,   unstructured   interviews,   questionnaires,    and observation. Abstract

This study is about language repertoire of the Chinese community inAceh. The aim of this study is to find out (1) the mastery of variety of languages and (2) the level of language mastery of the Chinese community in Aceh. This study is based on result of research in ten cities in Aceh. The data was collected by usingquestionnaire and interview method. The conclusion of this research are (1) theChinese community in Aceh is included to a group of monolingual, bilingual, andmultilingual community and mastery of many languages, such as Chinese,Indonesian, Acehnese, Bahasa Jamee, Javanese, Sundanese, Bataknese, English,Japanese, Korean, and Arabic; and (2) the level of their mastery toward thelanguages are varied.Their mastery of Indonesian (oral and written) is at the level‘good’. Their mastery toward oral-Chinese is ‘good’, while written-Chinese is‘fair’. Hereinafter, their mastery toward foreign language and vernacular be at thelevel ‘fair’.

Abstract

The issues in this research is  to provide that novels Wali Sanga by Shashangka, Babad Walisongo by Yudhi Aw, and Kisah Dakwah Wali Songo by Kusuma is the cristalization of discourse interaction in walisongo. The scope of this research is to prove that three novels success to provide the cristalization of discourse interaction in the varians fields that narrative walisongo. Method of this research is qualitative method. Resources of data is novels Babad Walisongo by Yudhi AW, Wali Sanga by  Shashangka, Kisah Dakwah Wali Songo by Kusuma. Data this research is words, sentence, and discourse in three novels. To analyze them is used nautical direction and a critic of literature sociology. The results of this research is that two novels worked Wali Sanga by  Shashangka and Babad Walisongo by Yudhi Aw can provide the cristalization of discourse interaction in walisongo while, the novel Kisah Dakwah Wali Songo don’t appear that things.

Abstract

The article presents the development of a writing workbook designed for the fourth semester students of a Writing III course at the English Education Program of State College for Islamic Studies (STAIN) Kediri. The Research and Development (R & D) project adopted the process-based writing approach consisting of eight steps: needs analysis, planning, first draft development, expert validation, product revision I, try-out, product revision II, and final product development. The results show that the process-based writing workbook can accommodate the learning needs of the target learners. The students’ found the clear writing stages that guide them through the whole process of writing, the well-designed exercises that integrated reading and writing activities, and the availability of good essays presented as models to be the strengths of the workbook

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to develop manual modules into a versatile technology web-based module in Phonetic Table Program PROTATIK web-based and to explain the interest and the influence of the media in Pronunciation Practice class FBS Indraprasta PGRI University Jakarta. Verbal-based learning such as English pronunciation practice requires the existence of an effective media because if it is directly given without media, inaccuracies in pronunciation, spelling, repetition will occur. The research belongs to Research and Development that includes conducting of a preliminary study to examine the theory and supervise the product, developing and testing or validating a new product. Whereas the development requires an analysis, develops syllabus and materials, creates and revises media. As conducting the try out in the end of the lesson, students are required to give comments on PROTATIK concerning the advantages, disadvantages, suggestions for improvement the media. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the linguistic elements used by the writers to obtain specific effects (expressivity function) in their creativity process. The study applied a model of descriptive qualitave research. The result of the study showed that in the use of comprehensive and significant linguistic elements, there was janturan (pathet 6, pathet 9, pathet manyura) especially anturan pathet 6. It was comprehensive because all linguistic elements are used altogether and they have supported the expressivity function. In using janturan pathet 6, the writers illustrate kebinatharaan (that of honorable god of Bathara) and the glory of a king, the prosperity and the conquest of a kingdom..

Abstract

Viewed from their linguistic forms, Asmaul Husna are classified into the mubalaghah group whose meanings require the addition of “Maha” (the All-/Omni- /the Most) and the non-mubalaghah  group, without the word “Maha”. Out of 99, only 69 names come up in the Qur’an with different frequencies, ranging from 1 to 138 times. The implication of this fact for professional educators is the requirement for pedagogical competence, personality competence, and social competence. Out of 5 data sources, there are 4 variants of translation, and a shift of form and meaning has been found. However, according Islamic theology, all names in Asmaul Husna must  be  translated  with  the  word  “Maha”,  which  shows  perfection  in  divine attributes.    Further research should be directed toward the study of Asmaul Husna in the Hadeeth of the Prophet.

Abstract

الملخص: إن خصوصية الأسلوب القرآني غالبًا ما تكون مشكلة معقدة في عملية الترجمة. فهناك العديد من أفعال كلام الأمر القرآنية لا تقدم دلالة الأمر ولكن تقدم دلالات تداولية معينة مثل الدعاء والتهديد والاحتقار وما إلى ذلك. فعدول دلالة الأمر إلى الدلالات التداولية مما يؤدي إلى صعوبة عملية الترجمة التي يواجهها المترجم بما في ذلك من الاختلاف بين دلالة الجملة ودلالة الكلام. وهكذا، فإن هذا البحث يكتشف عن مدى مقروئية ترجمة آيات الأمر القرآنية التي لها دلالات تداولية معينة. وفي هذا الصدد ، جرى اختيار عينة البحث بشكل هادف، بناء على آيات الأمر القرآنية التي تتضمن الدلالات التداولية المعينة. وأما وحدة التحليل فيه فهي ترجمة آيات الأمر القرآنية الواردة في القرآن الكريم ترجمة تفسيرة لمحمد طالب. بالإضافة إلى استخدام اختبار التتمة “cloze test” ، فإن تحليل المقروئية تم فيه أيضًا معتمدا على استجابة المستجيبين لمقروئية ترجمة آيات الأمر القرآنية. لقد كشفت نتائج البحث أن ترجمة آيات الأمر القرآنية الواردة في القرآن الكريم ترجمة تفسيرة تتمتع درجة المقروئية العالية. وعززت هذا الكشف نتائج اختبار التتمة الذي يشير إلى أن ترجمة آيات الأمر القرآنية وصلت إلى مستوى الاستقلال. وبعبارة أخرى أن القارئين يقدرون على فهم الترجمة دون الحاجة إلى مساعدة الآخرين. وجدير بالذكر أن هذه المقروئية العالية لترجمة آيات الأمر القرآنية لا تنفصل من استخدام العديد من تقنيات الترجمة مثل الحرفية والتحويل والحذف والتوسيعية المطبقة سواء كان من خلال إجراء الأحادية أو إجراء الثنائية.الكلمات الرئيسية: المقروئية، تقنيات الترجمة، آيات الأمر، الدلالة التداولية Readability of imperative verses translation in al-Qur'an al-karim tarjamah tafsiriyahThe stylistics of the Quran often becomes obstacles in translation. In the Quran, many imperative speech acts do not convey the meaning of commands yet present particular pragmatic meanings such as praying, threatening, insulting, etc. These pragmatic meanings make the translation process difficult.The difficulty occurs because the translator faces speech acts with a different sentence meaning from its utterance meaning. This research aims to reveal the readability of the translation of the imperative verses that have particular pragmatic meanings. In this regard, the research samples were taken purposively in the form of imperative verses of the Quran with certain pragmatic meanings. The unit of analysis is the translation of these imperative verses, which are included in the Al-Qur'an al-Karim Tarjamah Tafsiriyah by Muhammad Thalib. Apart from using the cloze test, the readability analysis is also based on the respondents' perception of the readability of the translation of the imperative verses. The research findings show that the translation of the imperative verses in Al-Qur'an al-Karim Tarjamah Tafsiriyah has a high degree of readability. This finding is reinforced by the results of the cloze test, which shows that the translation of these imperative verses is at an independent level; namely, readers can understand the translation without the need for help from others. The high readability of the translation of these imperative verses, among other things, is due to the use of several translation techniques, such as literal, transposition, reduction, and amplification techniques that are applied in both single and couplet procedures.Keywords: imperative verses, pragmatic meaning, readability, translation techniquesAbstrak: Kekhasan stilistika Alquran seringkali menjadi kendala tersendiri dalam penerjemahan. Dalam Alquran, ada banyak tindak tutur imperatif yang tidak menghadirkan makna perintah, tetapi menghadirkan makna pragmatik tertentu semisal doa, ancaman, hinaan, dan sebagainya. Keberadaan makna pragmatik ini menyebabkan proses penerjemahan menjadi rumpil. Kerumpilan terjadi karena penerjemah menghadapi tindak tutur yang memiliki sentence meaning berbeda dengan utterance meaning tindak tutur tersebut. Penelitian ini mengungkap keterbacaan terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif Alquran yang mempunyai makna pragmatik tertentu. Sekaitan dengan ini, sampel penelitian diambil secara purposif berupa ayat-ayat imperatif Alquran yang mempunyai makan pragmatik tertentu. Unit analisisnya ialah terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif tersebut yang termaktub dalam Al-Qur’anul Karim Tarjamah Tafsiriyah karya Muhammad Thalib. Selain menggunakan uji rumpang, telaah keterbacaan juga didasarkan pada persepsi responden terhadap keterbacaan terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif tersebut. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif dalam Al-Qur’anul Karim Tarjamah Tafsiriyah itu mempunyai derajat keterbacaan yang tinggi. Temuan ini diperkuat oleh hasil uji rumpang yang menunjukkan bahwa terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif tersebut berada pada level independent, yakni pembaca bisa memahami terjemahan tersebut tanpa memerlukan bantuan orang lain. Tingginya keterbacaan terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif ini antara lain berkat pengunaan beberapa teknik penerjemahan seperti teknik literal, transposisi, reduksi, dan amplifikasi yang diterapkan, baik dalam prosedur tunggal maupun prosedur kuplet.Kata kunci: keterbacaan, teknik penerjemahan, ayat-ayat imperatif, makna pragmatik

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the prophetic message portrayed through the characters within Kuntowijoyo’s fiction. The focus of the study is limited to the existence of the child and the grandfather and also their relation in conveying the prophetic message. The sources of the data for this study are Kuntowijoyo’s novel along with his fiction collections. Thus, the data are gathered through document collection. Those data would be analyzed using interactive analysis method which results in simultaneous data collection and analysis. The findings of the study show that: (1) the grandfather character is portrayed as the symbol of afterlife; (2) the child character symbolizes life itself; (3) the relationship of both characters – the child and the grandfather – can be concluded as binary opposition. The child who marks the beginning of life becomes the emphasis of the grandfather’s symbol as the end of life

Abstract

EFL teachers’ reasons for selecting instructional materials during the COVID-19 pandemicThe COVID-19 pandemic has changed how teachers teach and students learn in the classroom. One of the challenges in the online teaching is that teachers are required to prepare the instructional materials for their students. This study aims at investigating the EFL teachers’ reasons for choosing the instructional materials in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. By employing a set of questionnaires, this study collected the data from 219 English teachers from various levels of education online via the google form link. The data collection was done for one month starting from 5 May to 5 June 2020. The data were analyzed through a content analysis by identifying, grouping, and categorizing similar and different responses. The results of analysis showed that the EFL teachers have five categories of reasons in selecting the instructional materials in the time of pandemic: the instructional materials should be easy, relevant, simple, attractive, and absent from crime, pornography, and viruses. These results suggest that the EFL teachers make use of these reasons in selecting and developing the instructional materials for their students during and after the pandemic. For future textbook developers, these considerations can be used a reference to develop textbooks which accommodate students’ voices and teachers’ voices during the online teaching and learning activities.Keywords: EFL, teachers, reasons, instructional materials, COVID-19Alasan-alasan guru bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing dalam memilih materi pembelajaran selama pandemi COVID-19Pandemi COVID-19 telah banyak mengubah bagaimana guru mengajar dan siswa belajar di dalam kelas. Salah satu tantangan dalam pembelajaran daring adalah guru harus menyiapkan materi pembelajaran untuk siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginvestigasi alasan-alasan guru bahasa Inggris dalam memilih materi pembe­la­jaran selama masa pandemi COVID-19. Dengan memanfaatkan angket sebagai ins­trumen penelitian, data dikumpulkan dari 219 guru bahasa Inggris yang berasal dari berbagai tingkat satuan pendidikan. Angket didistribusikan kepada para guru secara daring mulai tanggal 5 Mei sampai 4 Juni 2020. Konten respon guru bahasa Inggris kemudian dianalisis dengan mengidentifikasi, mengelompokkan, dan meng­kategori­kan jawaban-jawaban yang sama dan berbeda. Hasil analisis menujukkan bahwa guru bahasa Inggris memiliki lima alasan dalam memilih materi pembelajaran selama pandemi COVID-19: materi pembelajaran harus mudah, relevan, sederhana, menarik, dan aman dari unsur kriminal, pornografi, dan virus. Berdasarkan hasil ini, guru ba­hasa Inggris disarankan menggunakan lima alasan ini dalam pemilihan dan pengem­bangan materi pembelajaran selama dan setelah pandemi COVID-19. Selain itu, pe­ngembang buku ajar juga disarankan menggunakan hasil ini sebagai referensi dalam mengembangkan buku ajar yang mengakomodasi perspektif para guru dan siswa.Kata kunci: bahasa Inggris, guru, alasan, materi pembelajaran, COVID-19
