Abstract

The impact of the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has had an impact on the decline in soil fertility. while on the other hand the need for food continues to increase along with the increase in population. Conservation farming efforts with the use of organic fertilizers are a solution to increase soil fertility and quality. Approach efforts to change farmers' mindsets to use organic fertilizers need to be carried out by carrying out counseling, training, mentoring and creating sample plots for plant cultivation. The results of the activity showed an increase in farmers' knowledge by 72% after participating in the dissemination program, as shown through pre-test and post-test evaluations. In addition, farmers began to adopt the use of organic fertilizers on their agricultural land, resulting in increased crop productivity and improved soil quality. This success reinforces the importance of organic fertilizer technology as a solution in maintaining environmental sustainability and supporting farmer independence in the area. With significant results, this approach is recommended to be replicated in other areas with similar conditions.

Abstract

This service discusses the importance of increasing the efficiency of fresh fish marketing distribution at the level of intermediary traders in Kampa District. Fresh fish is one of the trade commodities that can be exported or sold domestically. The business of selling fresh fish is one of the business opportunities whose prospects are very bright, because fresh fish is one of the main consumptions of the Indonesian people. This business besides having a very wide range of consumers that this business can touch, i fish sales can be done in conventional and digital ways. Selling fish conventionally can be done by opening fish outlets in markets or in densely populated neighborhoods.  Fish are not only sold to traditional markets both within the region (Kampar Regency) but can even be marketed to traders outside the region such as Pekanbaru City, Dumai City, Pelalawan Regency and Siak Regency. Fish traders as informal small entrepreneurs will always be faced with various limitations, especially the limitations of product continuity from fish farmers, facilities such as limited fleets and constraints in the implementation of distribution, such as travel time that is often disrupted due to rain, damaged roads and so on. Travel distance is very important because it is related to the durability of fresh fish and the cost of fuel oil (BBM).  The problem that is often encountered is the obstacles on the way. The problem that is often encountered is the obstacles in traveling between the source of fish (fish farmers) to the intended market.  For example, catfish is harvested around 21:00 to 22:00. The process of loading and distributing the number of fish for each destination market is about one to two hours and then starting the journey with the target of arriving at the destination market at 05.00 maximum. Distribution efficiency is the key to the success of the trader's business. If the harvest time, travel time and condition of the fish when it arrives at the table trader, the profit that is targeted will be realized. If there is inefficiency, the collector traders will experience losses because the price per unit will drop significantly.

Abstract

This training aims to increase the knowledge and skills of Rahong Village farmers in utilizing semi-hydroponic technology as an alternative planting medium that is effective, efficient and environmentally friendly. The semi-hydroponic method offers a practical solution to overcome the limitations of conventional agricultural land and increase plant productivity. This activity includes two main stages, namely making hydroponic planting media which involves the use of local and cheap materials, as well as guidelines for the use and maintenance of hydroponic systems for various types of plants. Through a participatory approach, training is carried out by delivering theoretical material, direct demonstrations and practice by participants. The results of the training and use of semi-hydroponic planting media show a significant increase in farmers' understanding and ability to implement semi-hydroponics. Participants are able to design a simple semi-hydroponic system and understand the steps for maintaining plants. It is hoped that this training will encourage the widespread adoption of semi-hydroponic technology in Rahong Village to improve the quality and quantity of agricultural products, support sustainable agriculture, support food security, and improve the welfare of local communities. Abstract

Urban environments often grapple with the dual challenges of pest management and sustainable practices, highlighting a crucial research gap in integrating effective and eco-friendly solutions. This activity addresses the issue of house rat (Rattus rattus) infestations and the potential for Trigona bee (Trigona sp.) keeping in RW IX Griya Bhayangkara, Sukodono. The primary objective was to develop and implement a training program for constructing environmentally friendly rat traps and establishing Trigona bee colonies. Utilizing a hands-on approach, the methodology included the design of simple, water gallons-based rat traps and the setup of bee bamboo-hives tailored for urban settings. The expected outcome where the introduction of simple rat traps could reduce house-rat populations, while Trigona beekeeping offered additional economic benefits and environmental sustainability. This activity underscores the importance of community engagement in adopting these methods, demonstrating that local resource utilization and practical training can effectively address urban ecological challenges. The implications of this activities extend to enhancing urban pest management strategies and promoting sustainable urban agriculture practices, contributing to overall community well-being, ecological resilience, and the achievement of SDGs.
