Abstract

Research on collective action has primarily focused on participation, while the mechanisms underlying non-participation remain less understood. This study examines why individuals remain inactive in boycott movements despite holding negative attitudes toward targeted companies, focusing on animosity toward firms associated with Israel. Using a quantitative design, data from 212 Indonesian participants were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS–SEM) and artificial neural network–neural network regression (ANN–NNR). The PLS–SEM approach was employed to examine explanatory relationships leading to purchasing behavior (PB). The results indicate that several hypothesized predictors do not exhibit significant direct effects on PB, while indirect effects are partially supported through mediating mechanisms. To complement the explanatory model, ANN–NNR results identified out of sight as the most important predictor of PB, followed by boycott attitude and urge of freedom. This divergence suggests that psychological mechanisms differ between explanatory and predictive frameworks, with ANN capturing potential nonlinear relationships. Overall, the study highlights the value of integrating PLS–SEM and ANN–NNR to better understand boycott-related inaction in a non-Western context.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between spirituality, self-regulation, and prosocial behavior in high school students. The scales used in this research were Eisenberg and Mussen’s Adolescent Prosocial Scale, adapted by Arifah and Nurina, and the Values in Action Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS), compiled by Peterson and Seligman and modified by Oriza and Nurwianti, to measure spirituality and self-regulation. Using purposive sampling, the participants in this research were 183 high school students in Purwakarta. This research shows a positive correlation among spirituality, self-regulation, and prosocial behavior (p=0.000, p0.05). The higher the levels of spirituality and self-regulation, the higher the level of prosocial behavior. This study clarifies inconsistent findings by demonstrating that self-regulation predicts prosocial behavior more strongly than spirituality.  The implication of the results of this research is that schools need to design programs to foster spirituality and self-regulation in students, so that students can demonstrate prosocial behavior in their daily lives.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that employs Gen Z on a large scale. It is known that the industry turnover rate in Indonesia reaches above 10% on average. Generation Z is known to be the most unhappy generation; they expressed feeling unhappy with their jobs for 22% of their time. The question in this study is to explore how Gen Z experiences in making meaning of their work. A descriptive phenomenological qualitative research design was chosen to get a picture of the experience of finding the meaning of work for Gen Z. The participants involved in this study amounted to three people, with the characteristics of participants being Gen Z and having a minimum tenure of three years. The participants consisted of two women and one man, who was 26 years old and worked as an employee. Data were collected through in-depth interviews online and face-to-face. The results of this study show that there are things that influence finding happiness at work, namely career decision making, success in adjusting, compatibility with the work done, and support from coworkers. Participants mentioned that the fit with the work they do and the support of coworkers have a big influence on their finding happiness at work. For future research, more in-depth research can be conducted on other psychological aspects in the industrial field, as well as research using quantitative methods to examine the variable of employee happiness at work in relation to several other variables, involving a larger number of subjects.

Abstract

Understanding students’ perceptions of lecturer support is essential to advancing motivation and engagement in higher education. The Teacher as Social Context Questionnaire (TASCQ), grounded in Self-Determination Theory, has been widely applied across diverse contexts; however, robust psychometric validation in Indonesian higher education remains largely absent. Addressing this gap, this study provides one of the first rigorous cross-cultural adaptations of the TASCQ short form and systematically evaluates its psychometric properties. Using a quantitative design, the 24-item TASCQ short form was administered to 200 students from public and private universities. Construct validity and reliability were examined using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The results indicated that 18 items met validity criteria, with standardized loading factors ranging from 0.504 to 0.842. Reliability analysis demonstrated a strong internal consistency (CR = 0.855; VE = 0.812). Theoretically, these findings extend the applicability of Self-Determination Theory within a collectivist cultural context which contributes to the growing body of cross-cultural validation research in higher education. Practically, the validated Indonesian version of the TASCQ short form offers a robust instrument to inform evidence-based education policy, strengthen lecturer professional development, and enhance student-centered learning practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pregnant women are a vulnerable group at  risk of experiencing psychological disorders including depression, anxiety and stress, due to physical and emotional changes during pregnancy. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of self-compassion-based psychoeducation in enhancing pregnant women's understanding of the importance of maintaining mental health during antenatal period.  This research utilised a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest framework. A total of 10 pregnant women were recruited through purposive sampling according to predetermined inclusion criteria. The psychoeducation intervention was delivered through multimodal visual methods, comprising material presentations, interactive discussions, leaflet distribution, and quizzes to foster active participant engagement. To assess participants’ understanding of the psychoeducational material regarding the role of self-compassion in improving mental health during pregnancy, a questionnaire was administered at both the pretest and posttest stages. Data were analysed using descriptive statistic and a Paired Samples T-Test via SPSS software. The results showed a significant increase in understanding, with t (9) = -6.000 and p = 0.000 (p 0.05). These findings suggest that pregnant women developed a better understanding of the importance of self-compassion in supporting mental health after engaging in the psychoeducation session. The results of this study are expected to be widely implemented in primary maternal healthcare services and to inform further research development.
