Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Islamic education in early childhood in shaping religious character at RA Pesantren Luhur. The background of this research is based on the importance of instilling Islamic values from an early age as the main foundation for character development in children. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of Islamic education at RA Pesantren Luhur is carried out through various activities, such as daily religious habituation (praying, congregational prayer, and reciting the Qur’an), exemplary behavior demonstrated by teachers, and the use of engaging learning methods appropriate to children's developmental stages. The religious values instilled include faith, good morals, discipline, and responsibility. In addition, the role of teachers and the school environment is highly significant in shaping children's religious character. In conclusion, the implementation of Islamic education that is conducted consistently, systematically, and based on role modeling is effective in shaping the religious character of early childhood. Therefore, collaboration between schools and parents is essential to support the success of Islamic education from an early age.

Abstract

Islamic character education in early childhood plays a crucial role in shaping children's moral, spiritual, and social development. Amid the challenges of globalization and rapid technological advancement that may negatively influence children's behavior, an educational model that integrates Islamic values into daily life is increasingly needed. This study aims to analyze the Islamic character education model implemented in Rumah Qur'an institutions for early childhood learners, identify the character values developed through educational activities, and examine the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This study employed a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data were collected from scholarly journals, academic books, and other relevant publications related to Islamic character education, early childhood education, and Rumah Qur'an institutions published between 2018 and 2026. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Islamic character education in Rumah Qur'an is implemented through role modeling (uswah hasanah), habituation, Qur'anic value-based learning, and collaboration between educators and parents. The character values developed include religiosity, discipline, honesty, responsibility, politeness, and social care. A supportive religious environment and active parental involvement were identified as major supporting factors, while uncontrolled digital media exposure, limited family support, and differences in children's characteristics emerged as significant challenges

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the lecture method combined with the question-and-answer technique (ceramah plus tanya jawab) in enhancing the learning motivation of preschool children at Tadika Suriah EduKids Centre, Malaysia. A qualitative descriptive case study design was employed, involving the class teacher and preschool children aged four to six years as research subjects. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with source and technique triangulation applied to ensure trustworthiness. The findings indicate that the combined method was implemented in three stages: lesson preparation, delivery of material through communicative and expressive lecturing, and a guided question-and-answer session. The integration of guided questioning into the lecture sessions was found to stimulate children's attention, participation, and willingness to respond, indicators commonly associated with increased intrinsic and extrinsic learning motivation. Supporting factors included the teacher's communication skills, the use of simple instructional media, and a conducive classroom climate, while inhibiting factors included limited session time and variation in children's language development. The study concludes that the lecture-plus-question-and-answer method is a practical and developmentally appropriate strategy for strengthening young children's motivation to learn in a preschool setting.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of polygamy through a critical interpretation of the Qur'an by analyzing the relationship between the normative permission contained in Surah An-Nisa verse 3 and the ethical limitation emphasized in verse 129. Polygamy remains one of the most debated issues in contemporary Islamic studies because it stands at the intersection of textual legitimacy, gender justice, and changing social realities. Previous studies have generally approached polygamy from either normative jurisprudence or sociological perspectives, while relatively few have integrated Qur'anic exegesis, historical context, and the objectives of Islamic law (maqasid al-shariah) into a single analytical framework. This research employs a qualitative library research approach using critical Qur'anic interpretation, contextual analysis, and maqasid al-shariah as complementary analytical perspectives. Primary data were obtained from Qur'anic verses, classical and contemporary tafsir literature, and major works on Islamic legal thought, while secondary data were collected from scholarly books and peer-reviewed journal articles discussing Islamic family law, gender studies, and Qur'anic hermeneutics. The findings indicate that the Qur'anic permission for polygamy should not be understood as a universal norm but rather as a contextual social regulation intended to protect vulnerable members of society under particular historical circumstances. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the Qur'an establishes justice as the central ethical requirement for polygamy while simultaneously acknowledging the human inability to achieve perfect justice, particularly in emotional relationships. Consequently, the ethical orientation of the Qur'an encourages a more restrictive understanding of polygamy consistent with justice, human dignity, and public welfare.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of Mar'ah (women) in the Qur'an through the thematic interpretation approach. The research was motivated by the continuing debate regarding the position and role of women in Islam, which is often understood through partial interpretations of individual Qur'anic verses without considering their thematic unity. Employing a qualitative library research design, this study systematically collected and analyzed Qur'anic verses related to women by examining their linguistic meanings, semantic structures, contexts of revelation (asbab al-nuzul), Makkiyah-Madaniyah classifications, interrelationships among verses (munasabah), classical and contemporary Qur'anic exegesis, and relevant prophetic traditions. The findings reveal that the Qur'an employs various terms to describe women, including mar'ah, an-nisa', untha, zauj, umm, and banat, each representing distinct biological, relational, social, and spiritual dimensions. The study further demonstrates that the Qur'anic concept of women is constructed gradually, beginning with the establishment of theological and moral principles during the Makkan period and continuing with the regulation of social and family life during the Madinan period. Rather than portraying women as subordinate to men, the Qur'an presents women as independent moral agents possessing equal spiritual responsibility before Allah while simultaneously recognizing their complementary roles within family and society. The novelty of this research lies in its integrative thematic interpretation that combines linguistic, semantic, exegetical, and prophetic analyses to formulate a comprehensive conceptual framework of women in the Qur'an. The findings contribute to the development of Qur'anic studies, Islamic gender discourse, Islamic education, and contemporary Islamic thought concerning women's dignity and social participation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of tasbih in the Qur'an and its relevance to the formation of a Muslim's spiritual character through a thematic Qur'anic interpretation approach. The study employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected by identifying Qur'anic verses related to tasbih and analyzed based on the interpretations of classical and contemporary exegetes, relevant hadiths, and scholarly literature. The findings reveal that tasbih in the Qur'an is not merely a form of verbal remembrance but also represents the glorification and transcendence of Allah, acknowledgment of His greatness, the obedience of all creation to Allah, and serves as a foundation for spiritual education. These values of tasbih are relevant to fostering the spiritual character of Muslims by cultivating faith, piety, humility, discipline in worship, and a constant awareness of remembering and glorifying Allah in every aspect of life.
