Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed the way people conduct financial transactions. One prominent shift is the transition from cash-based transactions to non-cash payment systems, commonly referred to as a cashless society. The core concept of a cashless society relies on transactions conducted through electronic payment instruments. This study aims to examine the challenges and readiness of the Fakfak Regency community in navigating the transition toward a cashless society. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through surveys and in-depth interviews with various stakeholders, including the general public, local government, financial institutions, and local business actors. Most existing studies on cashless society predominantly focus on urban areas and regions with well-developed digital infrastructure. This research offers novelty by exploring the challenges and readiness of communities in Fakfak Regency, one of the 3T (frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged) regions in West Papua, characterized by limited digital infrastructure, low financial literacy, and a significant digital divide. Data analysis was carried out using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to identify factors influencing the adoption of non-cash payment technologies. The findings indicate that the community in Fakfak Regency is not yet fully prepared for a cashless society. The region remains in the early stages of adopting non-cash transactions and faces various obstacles, including limited technological capability and insufficient infrastructure to support improvements in financial and digital literacy. This study provides important contributions by presenting an empirical picture of cashless adoption in a 3T region and offers valuable insights for developing more inclusive, adaptive, and contextually appropriate policies for the local transition toward a cashless society.

Abstract

The crankshaft is a vital component of an engine that converts the linear motion of the piston into rotational motion to produce mechanical power for electricity generation. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and literature review. The objective of this research is to analyze the factors contributing to the occurrence of cracks in the crankshaft of a diesel engine used as a generator prime mover. The findings indicate that the cracks are primarily caused by contamination of the lubricating oil with water, resulting from leakage in the lubricating oil cooler or tube oil cooler. Another contributing factor is the loosening of the connecting rod bolts, which may occur if they are not tightened to the specified torque or if a torque wrench is not used during installation. Corrective measures undertaken include replacing the gasket, repairing or replacing the leaking tube oil cooler, and retightening the connecting rod bolts using a torque wrench in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

Abstract

Procurement of goods/services is an activity to obtain goods/services whose process starts from planning needs and then the e-tendering process is carried out. In optimizing the e-tendering process flow for procurement of goods/services, a method called the critical path or critical path method (CPM) can be used. Critical path method (CPM) is a technique used to determine the most important (most critical) series of activities and the total duration in a project or job. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, the optimal time for the e-tendering process flow for procurement of goods/services is 27 days with a critical path path of A-B-C-E-F-G-H-I-J-K-L-M-N-O-P. Activities that are on the critical path include auction registration (A), response of interest and disinterest (B), downloading documents (C), input of bids (E), opening of bids (F), administrative evaluation (G), qualification evaluation (H), technical evaluation (I), price evaluation (J), proof of qualifications (K), negotiation (L), determination of the winner (M), announcement of the winner (N), objection period (O), and letter of appointment of goods/services provider (P).

Abstract

Abstract

Adulteration of rice bran is commonly done by mixing it with materials of similar appearance but lower nutritional value, such as ground rice husk. A key indicator of such adulteration is increased lignin content. Adding phloroglucinol solution to the mixture produces a red color that varies with lignin levels. This study aims to estimate lignin content in rice bran-husk mixtures using artificial intelligence and digital image processing. YCbCr color model images of eleven rice bran-husk compositions, treated with phloroglucinol, were analyzed. The lignin content of each variation was measured in the lab and used to define eleven classes. A Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) was employed as the classifier, with image histograms of varying bin sizes as input. PNN performance was evaluated using 4-fold cross-validation. Results showed the highest average accuracy of 85.80% with 32 bins and histograms from all three YCbCr channels.

Abstract

Flood is a frequent natural disaster in Indonesia, often exacerbated by delays in information delivery from conventional manual monitoring systems. This study aims to design and build an automatic flood early warning system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) integrated with a web dashboard and WhatsApp notifications. The system utilizes the ESP32 microcontroller and MaxBotix MB7389 ultrasonic sensor for real-time water level data acquisition. The Research and Development (R&D) method was employed, focusing on device accuracy validation and system integration. The measured data is transmitted to a .NET-based server and stored in a PostgreSQL database. Results indicate that the system functions according to design. Sensor accuracy testing demonstrated a high degree of precision (99.12% - 100%) compared to manual measurements. Furthermore, the system successfully sends timely warning notifications via WhatsApp when water levels exceed predefined thresholds, providing a more effective solution than manual monitoring to enhance community preparedness.

Abstract

Food loss and food waste (FLW) constitute systemic challenges in modern food systems, with direct implications for resource efficiency, environmental sustainability, and food security, particularly in developing countries where horticultural food loss persists upstream while food waste increases in downstream tourism sectors. This review synthesizes literature from 2015 to 2025 on horticultural food loss, tourism-related food waste, and the role of universities in cross-sectoral FLW reduction, using Sembalun, West Nusa Tenggara, as an illustrative agrarian–tourism landscape. The review is based on a multi-database search of academic sources (ScienceDirect/Elsevier, SpringerLink, Wiley Online Library, Taylor & Francis Online, MDPI, and Emerald Insight), complemented by key policy documents from FAO, UNEP, and UNWTO. Thematic synthesis indicates that upstream food loss and downstream food waste reflect structural mismatches between local production systems, tourism consumption patterns, and food governance, and therefore cannot be effectively addressed through isolated sectoral or technical interventions. The review highlights universities as strategic knowledge brokers that facilitate penta-helix collaboration, generate empirical evidence, and support the design of integrated interventions. This study underscores the need to strengthen universities' role in bridging agriculture, tourism, and policy to advance FLW reduction and support sustainable tourism development in rural destinations such as Sembalun, West Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

Food waste is still a significant problem, affecting food security, the environment, and the global economy. More than 53% of food produced becomes waste. Food waste worldwide totals 1.3 trillion annually. One of the districts with a high food waste rate is Banyumas. The most significant contributor to waste in the Banyumas region in 2021 was food waste, accounting for 39.85%, with much of it generated by restaurants. Restaurants play an essential role in managing food waste, as most food discarded at the preparation stage cannot be reused. This study aims to analyze the relationship between demographics and food waste reduction to support a digital technology approach from a restaurant perspective. This study used quantitative methods. The respondents of this study were 100 restaurants located in Banyumas, including A La Carte, Ramesan, Tegal, and Padang, and the data were analyzed using ANOVA. The results show that demographic factors, including income, age, restaurant opening hours, and the prices of best-selling foods, influence food waste in restaurants. The recommendation is for restaurants to prepare and plan menus. This will affect food prices, opening hours, and revenue. Some restaurants can increase their knowledge of handling food waste.
