Abstract

This study analyses the risk of tofu production at the Saudara Jaya Tofu Factory using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method with the aim of identifying potential failures and calculating the Risk Priority Number (RPN) value based on severity, frequency of occurrence, and detection. The results of the study found 17 risks in the tofu production process with 5 highest priority risks, namely the mixing of good and bad quality soya beans, improper dosage of vinegar, negligence in managing soaking time, inappropriate tofu size, and less dense tofu. To minimise these risks, several mitigation measures are proposed, including the selection of quality raw material suppliers, the use of soybean sorting machines, the creation of written SOPs, the use of timers for soaking, and the replacement of cutting tools and presses with more efficient ones. The implementation of these mitigations is expected to improve the quality and efficiency of tofu production as well as customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Based on field observations conducted in Dukuh Dempok Village, Wuluhan District, Jember Regency, only about 20% of young people express interest in working in agriculture. This indicates a lack of interest among youth in agricultural professions, particularly in Dukuh Dempok Village. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of agribusiness jobs that appeal to young people in the area. The method used in this study is a survey approach. Sampling was conducted using probability sampling techniques, specifically proportionate stratified random sampling. The analysis involved examining various internal variables such as formal education, age, perception of parental background, and perception of farming efforts, along with external factors including social environment, the role of extension workers, and facilities and infrastructure. The data was converted into interval data using the Mean Score Index (MSI) and was then tested for validity, reliability, and classical assumptions with the assistance of SPSS 25 software. The data analysis employed a quantitative descriptive method, specifically multiple linear regression tests using SPSS. Hypothesis testing was performed using the t-test and F-test. The results of the study indicated that both internal and external factors significantly influence young people's interest in pursuing careers in the agribusiness sector.

Abstract

The issue of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has a direct impact on the increase of a country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), particularly in the tourism sector. The growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) has become a key factor in the success of this increase. However, capital constraints remain a challenge in unlocking the potential of MSMEs. Many MSME business owners are still not bankable and lack confidence in accessing capital. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between financial knowledge, financial behavior, access to finance, and firm performance among MSME owners in the thematic villages of Malang City. Using an explanatory research approach, the data collected were analyzed through SEM-PLS. The findings show that financial knowledge and financial behavior havea significant effect on firm performance, while access to finance does not influence firm performance.

Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L) are annual plants and constitute a high-value horticultural commodity. As the harvest season nears, farmers encounter the issue of declining prices resulting from the synchronization of harvest schedules across various locations. In light of this predicament, it is essential to develop a marketing strategy to ensure that farmers maintain adequate income. This research seeks to elucidate external elements (opportunities and threats) and internal factors (strengths and weaknesses) to identify suitable marketing strategy alternatives and to prioritize marketing strategies. The employed data processing and analysis methodology is SWOT analysis, encompassing Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE), External Factor Evaluation (EFE), and the Internal-External (IE) matrix, then enhanced through the SWOT Matrix, along with the identification of priority strategies via Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis. The QSPM study indicates that the primary marketing strategy for red onions in Mojorembun Village is to set cultivation objectives by instituting standard operating procedures (SOP) for red onion production to enhance competitiveness, reflected by a TAS score of 7.409.

Abstract

This study examines the economic impact of agricultural mechanization on smallholder rice and maize farmers in Curahwelut Village, East Java, Indonesia. Agricultural machinery (alsintan) offers a strategic solution to address labor shortages, rising production costs, and inefficiencies in farm operations. The research employs a quantitative case study approach involving ten purposively selected farmers, all of whom operate on rented land and utilize mechanized equipment at different production stages. Data were collected through structured interviews and analyzed using financial modeling, correlation, and regression techniques. Results show that mechanization enhances productivity, reduces physical labor, and contributes positively to farm profitability. All respondents achieved positive profits, with revenue and net cash flow directly correlated to investment in machinery. Break-even point (BEP), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Profitability Index (PI) analyses confirm the economic feasibility of mechanization, with all farmers exceeding BEP thresholds. Regression analysis demonstrates a strong positive relationship between total cost and revenue (R² = 0.749), indicating that greater input investment yields higher returns. However, structural challenges such as insecure land tenure and aging farmer demographics remain barriers to broader adoption. Findings highlight the need for supportive policies that expand access to credit, improve technology distribution, and promote gender and youth inclusion. Mechanization, when effectively managed, enhances financial sustainability and contributes to rural economic development. This research underscores the importance of tailored mechanization strategies to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers in Indonesia.
