Abstract

Cities act as centers of activity that make them attractive for people to migrate. This increases the productivity of built-up land. However, the impact of this expansion is the increase of temperature in urban areas and the decrease of temperature around them, which is known as Urban Heat Island (UHI) phenomenon. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the UHI phenomenon in Balikpapan City by using remote sensing technology through Terra-MODIS satellite. Terra-MODIS satellite images are used to measure Land Surface Temperature (LST) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The urban area studied is Balikpapan City. The data used includes images from 2000 to 2023. The results show the existence of UHI phenomenon in Balikpapan City. This emphasizes the need for non-military defense strategy in vegetation improvement and preservation to reduce the risk of UHI.

Abstract

This paper examines the impact of the implementation of the Job Creation Law on foreign investment within the framework of the Indonesia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (IJEPA). The discussion focuses on two main points: regulatory changes introduced by the Job Creation Law to enhance the attractiveness of foreign investment and its impact on the flow of Japanese investment into Indonesia. This study employs a normative method with a qualitative approach, collecting data through literature reviews and analysis of relevant regulations. The findings reveal that, while the Job Creation Law facilitates foreign investors, several challenges persist in its implementation, including issues of legal uncertainty and bureaucratic obstacles. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve the existing regulatory system, including enhancing transparency and legal certainty, to foster a more conducive investment climate.

Abstract

As cyberattacks become more frequent and sophisticated, traditional static authentication methods have failed to protect them against it. And so given that some high-volume data breach incidents have highlighted vulnerabilities inherent in traditional username/password authentication, we must abandon these notions and embrace adaptive machine-learning (ML)-driven authentication systems that dynamically alter system security based upon real-time risk assessment. To strengthen cybersecurity resilience, this study introduces an ML-driven adaptive authentication approach, in which behavioral biometric, contextual information analysis, and anomaly detection algorithms are leveraged. We use a deep risk assessment methodology that dynamically re-authenticates logins based on device characteristics, geo location histories, behavioural analytics and historical user behaviour.

Abstract

The defense industry plays a critical role in enhancing national security and sovereignty. This study examines the effectiveness of triple helix collaboration—academia, industry, and government—in fostering innovation, technology transfer, and sustainable defense industry development. Using a qualitative approach and secondary data analysis, this research highlights successful global and national collaboration models, identifies challenges in implementation, and explores solutions for overcoming these barriers. The findings demonstrate that effective collaboration drives technological independence, increases competitiveness, and strengthens national defense capabilities. Recommendations include enhancing regulatory frameworks, improving coordination among stakeholders, and fostering innovation ecosystems tailored to defense sector needs. This study contributes to understanding the dynamics of collaboration for advancing defense industry innovation and competitiveness.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out the relationship between fundamental analysis and technical analysis towards stock price. Fundamental analysis is interpreted by debt to equity ratio, earnings per share, current ratio, and return on assets. Technical analysis is interpreted by volume of trade and The Composite Stock Price Index. Furthermore, by applying dummy variable, dividend policy is applied as moderation variable to test the relationship between fundamental analysis towards the stock price as well as technical analysis towards the stock price. The population of the research is banking companies listed in IDX in 2019-2022. Technical analysis applied double regression analysis and moderated regression analysis (MRA) using SPSS 26. The findings of the research stated that technical analysis and fundamental analysis influence the stock price. Company policy to share dividends for the stock holders was proven to influence the relationship between those variables.

Abstract

The goal of this research is to determine whether the environmental, social, and governance pillars have a significant impact on firm value as measured by Tobin's Q, and whether firm size, as measured by total assets, can attenuate the impact of each pillar.  This study's sample consists of banking businesses listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2017 to 2023 that have received Refinitiv's environmental, social, and governance pillar ratings. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. This study uses multiple linear regression with panel data and moderation regression analysis to test moderation variables. The findings revealed that the environmental pillar has a negative but insignificant effect on firm value, the social pillar has a significant negative effect on firm value, the governance pillar has a negative and insignificant effect on firm value, and the environmental, social, and governance pillars all have a significant positive effect on firm value.  Firm size cannot attenuate the effect of environmental, social, and governance pillars on firm value, but it has the potential to do so.
