Abstract

This study aims to investigate the status of food security among dryland farmer households in West Lombok, Indonesia.  This can contribute to effective strategies to enhance food security.  The study used mixed-methods, and this approach that allows for the collection of both quantitative data to assess the extent of food security in the region.  The findings reveal that the food security condition in West Lombok in 2024 reflects a dual challenge: while the majority of households are food secure, a significant portion of the population still experiences food insecurity.  To improve land and food security for dryland farmers in West Lombok, efforts should focus on better land access, sustainable farming, and water management. This should be followed with policies, financial aids, strengthening farmer cooperatives and improving access to resources.

Abstract

The North Natuna Sea has a strategic role for Indonesia because of its natural resources and vital trade routes. its natural resources and vital trade routes. However, external claims, especially from China and China Coast Guard (CCG) activities, challenge Indonesia's sovereignty Indonesia. To counter this, Indonesia issued Presidential Regulations no. 8/2021 and No. 12/2021 to strengthen maritime defense and modernize the navy. Despite these efforts, challenges such as coordination between coordination, operational capabilities and resource allocation still exist. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Indonesia's maritime defense strategy using the ends, Ways, and Means framework. The results show progress in monitoring and patrolling, but shortcomings in fleet, technology and coordination hamper strategy implementation hinder strategy implementation. This research recommends improving inter-agency coordination, monitoring technology and resource allocation to strengthen the sovereignty and security of the North Natuna Sea.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of profitability, firm size, and liquidity on the stock prices of IDX30-listed companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2020–2023 period. The research utilizes secondary data obtained from IDX official sources and employs multiple linear regression analysis to assess the relationship between independent variables (profitability, firm size, and liquidity) and the dependent variable (stock price). Classical assumption tests, including multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, autocorrelation, and normality tests, are conducted to ensure the validity of the regression model. The findings indicate that profitability and firm size have a positive and significant impact on stock prices, while liquidity negatively and significantly affects stock prices. These results suggest that companies with higher profitability and larger firm size attract more investors, leading to increased stock prices. Conversely, excessive liquidity is perceived negatively by investors, as it may indicate inefficient fund utilization. This study contributes to the understanding of stock price determinants and provides valuable insights for investors, financial analysts, and corporate decision-makers in capital market investments.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the Digital Services Tax (DST) on global trade, tax fairness, and international tax reforms. Using a qualitative approach and a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, the research evaluates DST’s role in addressing tax base erosion while highlighting its economic and geopolitical implications. Findings reveal that DST increases government revenues, particularly in developing nations, but also exacerbates trade conflicts and legal uncertainties, deterring Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). While the OECD’s Pillars One and Two offer a multilateral alternative, their implementation remains complex and politically contested. The study concludes that achieving a sustainable digital tax system requires a balanced, cooperative framework to mitigate trade tensions and promote tax fairness.

Abstract

The continuous increase in waste production, driven by economic growth and population expansion in Indonesia, highlights the urgent need for a deeper understanding of sustainable waste management practices. This study aims to analyze the impact of different recycling levels on the thermal and physical properties of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and expanded polystyrene (EPS), both of which significantly contribute to environmental pollution. This research examines recycling frequencies of one, three, and five cycles, utilizing advanced testing methodologies such as Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) for thermal property analysis and Melt Flow Index (MFI) for physical characterization. The study seeks to uncover the structural transformations that occur in these plastics throughout successive recycling processes and their subsequent implications. The PET test results indicate that an increased recycling frequency tends to elevate the melting point, reduce crystallinity, and enhance melt flowability.

Abstract

This study identifies, categorizes, and analyzes speech errors committed by EFL students and explores their implications for English teaching. Data were collected through content analysis, following a qualitative descriptive design, and recorded via an audio recorder and a speech log over one month. The study revealed that speech errors were categorized into twelve types: anticipation, perseveration, substitution, metathesis (exchange), addition, blends, shift, omission (deletion), malapropism, spoonerism, sound-exchange errors, and native language interference errors. To improve students' speaking skills, English teachers may design lessons that enhance fluency and accuracy while encouraging EFL learners to develop self-repair strategies to minimize repeated errors. Additionally, they are encouraged to conduct further research on effective error correction strategies to improve teaching practices.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to examine the influence of delayed tax expenses and leverage on profit management in consumer products firms listed on the Indonesian Stock Exchange between 2018 and 2022.  The research method employed is a quantitative approach, including secondary data acquired from the company's annual reports. The analysis techniques used include normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity, and multiple linear regression tests. The results revealed that deferred tax expense has a detrimental and serious impact on  profits management, implying that transient disparities between accounting profit and fiscal profit might be used to predict earnings management practices. In contrast, Leverage has no meaningful impact on earnings management, which indicates that the level of corporate debt is not a major factor in managerial decisions to carry out earnings management. These findings support agency theory in explaining the link between deferred tax expenditure and earnings management, but contradict agency theory in relation to leverage. This study provides implications for companies in improving financial statement transparency and controlling deferred tax differences to reduce earnings management practices.
