Abstract

This research endeavors to investigate how competence, job satisfaction, and workplace environment affect employee motivation at the Forestry Service UPT KPH in Belu and Malaka Regencies. A quantitative methodology was implemented through survey techniques, distributing questionnaires to 42 participants. The sampling approach utilized was saturated sampling, wherein the complete population functioned as the sample. Data analysis employed multiple linear regression via SPSS 24, encompassing validity assessment, reliability assessment, classical assumption testing, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficient of determination. The outcomes demonstrate that (1) competence exerts a positive and significant impact on work motivation; (2) job satisfaction does not meaningfully influence work motivation; and (3) workplace environment positively and significantly affects work motivation. Collectively, these three independent variables substantially influence work motivation, evidenced by an Adjusted R Square value of 0.581, indicating that 58.1% of work motivation variance is accounted for by competence, job satisfaction, and workplace environment. These findings imply that bolstering employee competence and enhancing the workplace environment may function as effective approaches for elevating work motivation.

Abstract

The construction sector has job characteristics with inappropriate workloads and long working hours, which can reduce employee job satisfaction. This phenomenon also occurs among operational employees at PT. XYZ, characterized by work-life incompatibility and limited personal time. Partially and concurrently, this research intends to examine the impact of workload and work-life balance on employee job satisfaction. Questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and meticulous recording make up the research method's descriptive and associative quantitative approach. As many as thirty-four operational personnel filled out the survey. Multiple linear regression was used to evaluate the data. Workload and work-life balance were shown to significantly impact job satisfaction in a good way. To sum up, improving job happiness requires proportionate task management and establishing a healthy work-life balance.

Abstract

This study aims to compare commissive speech acts with the function of promising employed by Prabowo Subianto during his period as a presidential candidate and his tenure as president. The research adopts a qualitative approach using a pragmatic matching method to relate linguistic forms to their extralinguistic contexts. Data were collected from Prabowo Subianto’s speeches using the free listening, seeing, and speaking (SBLC) technique. The findings indicate clear differences in language use across the two periods. Commissive illocutionary acts functioning as promises occur more frequently when the speaker had not yet assumed the presidency, as the campaign context demands persuasion, commitment, and projection of capability. In this phase, commissives serve as strategic instruments to construct voter trust and generate expectations.

Abstract

This study explores traumatic experiences experienced during school through personal narratives shared online, focusing on how these experiences are remembered and retold after graduation. The study raises two questions: How are traumatic experiences during school represented through language in interactions with teachers and friends? And how do ideational processes reveal alumni's position as victims or perpetrators, and the power relations that emerge in the narratives? This qualitative study uses narrative inquiry, combined with Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) and Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), to examine the meaning of language, social relations, and the construction of experiences in the narratives. Data were obtained from written narratives by Quora users who recounted their traumatic experiences during school, both with teachers and friends. Thematic analysis was used to identify patterns of meaning and social interactions in the narratives, including material, mental, behavioral, verbal, relational, and existential processes. The results show that traumatic experiences are exposed through physical actions, feelings, speech, and social judgments. The narratives also reveal the long-term impact of trauma on memories, emotions, and how alumni cope with these memories. This study expands the study of trauma linguistics by presenting personal narratives from online sources, providing insights into how trauma is constructed and interpreted outside of the formal school context.

Abstract

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is currenty widely used in science classrooms, but its practice may varies across teaching styles and subject areas. This study reviews publications from 2020 to 2024 to trace patterns in PBL research in science education. Articles were gathered from Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and additional searches. Studies were grouped by learning mode (face-to-face, online, blended), teaching focus (instructional, strategic, pedagogical), and science field (physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, integrated science). Findings show blended learning grew during the pandemic, though face-to-face methods remain strong in lab-based sciences. Instructional design dominates most studies, while strategic and theoretical views are increasing. Earth science and integrated STEM are less studied, pointing to future research needs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how CCO practices operate within inclusive development in multicultural tourism in Yogyakarta City. The objects of this research are Cokrodiningratan, Sosromenduran, and Prenggan urban villages. This study employs an exploratory qualitative method using in-depth interviews with informants from the village tourism organizations in the three villages. The findings show that inclusive development communication practices through the four CCO flows in these villages display diverse dynamics, yet overall function quite well. Although the level of participation among culturally marginalized groups varies—such as the Chinese community in Sosromenduran who tend to focus more on business activities, the Kalang ethnic group in Prenggan whose involvement is mostly symbolic, and the Chinese community in Cokrodiningratan who are actively engaged in organizational management—the overall process still reflects collective efforts to create participatory spaces. Role allocation, activity coordination, and relationships with external institutions indicate that multicultural tourism in Yogyakarta is not solely supported by economic and cultural resources, but also by communication practices that are inclusive, reflective, and sustainability-oriented.

Abstract

Drug abuse among minors poses a serious threat to social resilience in urban areas such as Surabaya. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the SALAM (Screening for Children in Problems) Program as an effort to detect drug abuse early among students in Surabaya City. The research paradigm used is qualitative with descriptive analysis presentation. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. The focus of the analysis includes the dimensions of communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure in the implementation of early detection of drug abuse among students. The results of the study generally indicate that the implementation of the SALAM Program as an early detection of drug abuse among students has been carried out in a structured manner with systematic communication, adequate resource support, and the disposition of implementers who show positive commitment, and supported by a clear bureaucratic structure. However, in practice, the program implementation is still not fully optimal because it is influenced by external factors such as school readiness and acceptance, as well as the psychological condition of students as the program targets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of integrating PhET simulations within a Discovery Learning approach on students’ chemistry learning outcomes, particularly in the topic of chemical bonding. This research employed a quasi-experimental design using a Posttest-Only Control Group Design, involving two groups: an experimental group and a control group. The sample was selected through a simple random sampling technique, consisting of 35 students in the experimental group and 36 students in the control group. The research instrument was a validated 25-item multiple-choice test designed to measure students’ learning outcomes. Data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, with the Mann–Whitney test applied for hypothesis testing. The results indicate that the percentage of learning mastery in the experimental group was 88.57%, which is higher than that of the control group at 75%. The hypothesis testing results show that the calculated Z value exceeds the critical Z value at a significance level of 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of PhET simulations within a Discovery Learning approach has a significant effect on students’ chemistry learning outcomes in the topic of chemical bonding. This study implies that the integration of technology within instructional models can enhance the effectiveness of chemistry learning, particularly for abstract concepts.
