Wen Chuang Journal is published by the Chinese Language Education Study Program, Department of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Languages and Letters, Makassar State University. It is a research journal that publishes various research reports, literature studies and scientific writings with the object of foreign language studies, both language education, linguistics, literatures, cultures, and sinology. It is published regularly twice a year in August and February. Every article published in Wen Chuang will undergo an assessment process by a peer reviewer.

Abstract

Curug nature tourism managed by Perum Perhutani KPH East Banyumas currently only has information services in Indonesian, so that information about the tour has not spread to foreign visitors. The Curug nature tourism information e-booklet in Mandarin aims to improve information services for Curug nature tourism managed by Perum Perhutani KPH East Banyumas for Chinese-speaking visitors. In making an information e-booklet for nature tourism Curug in Mandarin, the data collection techniques used were the observation method, the interview method and the internet browsing method. In the process of translating the information e-booklet on Curug natural tourism in Mandarin, three stages were used, namely analysis, transfer and restructuring. The method used is the communicative translation method. The results of the translation of the e-booklet of Chinese-language Curug nature tourism information will be uploaded on Weibo and Instagram social media, because Weibo and Instagram are social media that are easily accessible by Chinese-speaking visitors. Chinese-language e-booklets can help foreign visitors, especially Chinese-speaking visitors, to obtain information regarding natural tourist attractions managed by Perum Perhutani KPH East Banyumas. Keyword: mandarin language, e-booklet, translation, nature tourism.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study aimed at obtaining data on the level of errorsin the use of adverbs 再 (zài) and 又 (yòu) in Mandarin for Grade VIII students of SMPFrater Makassar. The population in this study were students of class VIII SMP FraterMakassar with a total of 27 students as well as research samples using the total sampletechnique. The research data was obtained by giving an error test using the adverbs 再 (zài)and 又 (yòu) consisting of True False, Filling, and Essay questions. The results showed thatthere were 124 errors in using the adverb 再 (zài) with 46.62% belonging to the less categoryand 142 errors in using the adverb 又 (yòu) with 53.38% belonging to the less category.Total errors There are 266 errors in the use of adverbs 再 (zài) and 又 (yòu).Keyword: Adverbs errors analysis 再 (zài) and 又 (yòu)

Abstract

Intercultural communication (cross cultural communication) is increasingly important in multinational companies in China because of the increasing number of foreign employees working there. This research aims to analyze the intercultural communication challenges that arise in Chinese companies and how to overcome them. The research was conducted through in-depth interviews with 15 foreign employees and 15 Chinese employees who worked in 5 Chinese multinational companies from various industries. The research results show that differences in communication styles, social norms and cultural values often lead to misunderstandings and conflicts between Chinese and foreign employees.Foreign employees often feel Chinese employees are too direct, not open enough and self-centered, while Chinese employees feel foreign employees are too blunt and disrespectful to superiors. Misunderstandings also often occur regarding decision making and problem solving. It is recommended that companies organize cross-cultural training, encourage open communication between departments and a culture of mutual respect to overcome these challenges. Intercultural communication skills need to be trained to all employees so that cooperation and productivity increase.  Keyword: Cross Culture, Communication, Chinese Company

Abstract

One of the characteristics of modern Islamic boarding schools is that the language usedby the elements of modern Islamic boarding schools mostly uses Arabic and English asan effort to answer the challenges of the times so that students become individual learnerswho are also able to guide the community by using various languages effectively andappropriately. Each student has a personality type, either introvert or extrovert, whichcan support or even hinder the success of learning. The ability of modern Islamic boardingschools and students to recognize and use personality types in learning is a reference foreach element to continue to innovate sustainability related to the right methods andapproaches according to the personality type of students in modern Islamic boardingschools.Keywords: Personality, Learners, Language Learning Strategies

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is a qualitative-quantitative research that aims to find out the problems and factors that influence the problems of mastering Chinese vocabulary for class VII students at SMP Frater Makassar. The population in this study were 179 students of class VII SMP Frater Makassar. The sampling technique was carried out using random sampling, so the sample in this study were students of class VII F, totaling 30 students. The research instruments were in the form of interviews, closed questionnaires and open questionnaires. Data were analyzed using percentage techniques. The results showed that the problems in students' mastery of Mandarin vocabulary were that students were novice students who did not know Hanzi and even had difficulty pronouncing it, students acted normally when they received assignments and felt embarrassed to appear in front of the class to memorize Chinese vocabulary, the time allocation for learning Mandarin still not enough. These problems are influenced by two factors, namely internal factors (student discipline), lack of interest in learning and students' self-confidence in learning Mandarin and external factors (teachers, facilities and infrastructure, and family), namely: teachers sometimes use creative learning media in introducing new vocabulary to students; insufficient number of Chinese language textbooks; parents rarely provide motivation to learn Mandarin. As for other external factors, according to the interview data obtained, the school does not yet have a language laboratory.Keywords: Problems, Vocabular

Abstract

Elements in language such as phrases, words, and sentences can be analyzed using linguisticstudies, including semantic studies related to language meaning. This article discusses thepolysemy of lexemes 上 (shàng) in the drama series 我的父亲母亲 (Wǒ de fùqīn mǔqīn).This paper uses a qualitative approach, using note-takingand listening and translationtechniques. Data was collected from Mandarin drama series sources and analyzed withreference to representative sources. 22 data were found and 14 data were described. Theresearch results show that there are many dialogues containing the lexeme 上(shàng),indicating that this word is often used in Mandarin both in writing and conversation. In wordformation analysis, the lexeme 上 (shàng) is a free morpheme that can form new words andmeanings. The findings show that the diversity of meanings is still related to basic meaningsand new meanings which must be seen from various aspects in forming meaning.Key words: lexeme 上 (shàng), meaning, polysemy

Abstract

ABSTRAK Restoran China sudah banyak tersebar di seluruh Indonesia karena adanya kerjasama antar negara dan setiap restoran pasti memiliki ciri khas masing-masing melalui makna dalam nama dan hal-hal yang diciptakan dalam restoran itu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui asal usul terbentuknya nama restoran, makna dari nama restoran dan fungsi lanskap linguistik pada restoran China 《海底捞火锅》"Haidilao HotPot". Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Adapun untuk menganalisis data menggunakan interpretasi data kualitatif yang nantinya akan digunakan untuk menarik kesimpulan pada penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa asal usul terbentuknya nama restoran ini yaitu didirikan oleh Zhang Yong pada tahun 1994. Awalnya restoran ini merupakan restoran hotpot yang cabang utamanya didirikan di China. Kajian onomastika dari nama restoran ini yaitu bermula saat istri Zhang Yong memenangkan kompetisi mahjong, sehingga dia memilih memberikan nama tersebut untuk restorannya. Adapun kajian semiotikanya yaitu menggunakan makna yang diambil dari pengalaman atau apa yang harus dilakukan pelanggan saat berada di dalam restoran ini. Kata Kunci: lanskap linguistik, sosiolinguistik, haidilao hotpot, restoran china, bahasa mandarin

Abstract

This article provides a comparison analisys of the lexeme "Head (头)" in Indonesian and Mandarin.With a qualitative approach, this research can explore the differences and similarities between theuse of the lexeme "head" in the two languages. Using qualitative methods, it will provide an in-depthdescription of the basic meaning focus and meaning variations of the use of the word "Head (头)" inthe semantic context of each language. Data was collected and analyzed from representative text andliterature sources in Indonesian and Mandarin. The research results show that, although both havesimilar basic meanings as parts of the human body, the words "Head (头)" in Indonesian andMandarin can show variations in meaning in everyday use, and in linguistic expressions. Thesedifferences may reflect differences in cultural thinking and social values related to the concept of"Head 头" in the societies of the two languages. This research provides deeper insight into thelinguistic and cultural differences between Indonesian and Mandarin, with the hope that it canprovide a basis for better understanding in the context of translation and cross-cultural interaction.Keywords: Lexeme“Kepala (头)”, Semantic, Comparative Analysis.

Abstract

This research is experimental research (quasi experimental), which has 2 variables, namely power point media as the independent variable, namely writing 汉 字 hanzi as the dependent variable. The population of this study was 209 class VIII students at private junior high schools in Makassar. The sample used random sampling in this study was class VIII A students at private junior high schools in Makassar, totaling 20 students as the control class and class VIII B students at private junior high schools in Makassar. , totaling 20 students as an experimental class. This research data was obtained through a hanzi writing test and analyzed using the T test. H1: The use of power point media is effective in the hanzi writing skills of class VIII students at private junior high schools in Makassar, accepted. H0: The use of power point media is not effective in the Hanzi 汉字 writing skills of class VIII private junior high school students in Makassar, rejected. The results of this study show that tcount is greater than ttable (13.47> 2.03) with a significance level of 0.05. This means that the use of PowerPoint slide media is effective in writing 汉字hanzi for class VIII students at private junior high schools in Makassar. Keywords : Effectiveness, Power Point Media, Writing skill, Hanzi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan penulisan urutan guratan Hanzi pada siswa kelas X SMK Penerbangan Hasanuddin Makassar. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X SMK Penerbangan Hasanuddin Makassar dengan jumlah 16 siswa sekaligus sebagai sampel dalam penelitian. Teknik pengambilan data menggunakan tes menulis aksara Mandarin dan penyebaran angket. Hasil analisis data ditemukan kesalahan aksara Mandarin 5 guratan sebanyak 32 atau 21,76%, Hanzi dengan 7 guratan sebanyak 48 atau 32,62%. Pada Hanzi dengan 9 guratan ditemukan sebanyak 67 kesalahan atau 45,57%. Sedangkan faktor yang memengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam penulisan guratan Hanzi yaitu kesulitan mengingat guratan (bihua) Hanzi dan urutan guratan (bishun) Hanzi.  Kata Kunci: Bahasa Mandarin, urutan guratan, Hanzi
