MUKASI (Jurnal Ilmu Komunikasi) adalah jurnal ilmu komunikasi nasional peer-review yang diterbitkan oleh Yayasan Pendidikan Penelitian Pengabdian Algero yang terbit empat kali dalam setahun yaitu Februari, Mei, Agustus dan November. Abstract

This study explores how the Rexona Run #LanjutTerusStoryByRexona advertisement on YouTube represents the spirit of perseverance. A qualitative approach is employed, using Roland Barthes’ semiotic method to analyze visual symbols and narrative elements. The research focuses on five inspirational scenes portraying individuals from diverse backgrounds: an elderly man who regains motivation after losing his wife, a housewife pursuing her dream of running amid family responsibilities, a boy striving to become a runner with his father's support, and a woman with physical limitations who overcomes doubt thanks to her supportive friends. The fifth scene unites these characters as they cross the finish line together, symbolizing the power of persistence and collective strength. The analysis reveals that the advertisement conveys its core message through sports movements, emotional expressions, and touching personal stories. The study also applies the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), specifically the peripheral route, to explain how emotionally charged messages can influence viewers—especially when they are not in a rational or focused state. The ad goes beyond its marketing purpose, serving as a motivational medium that reinforces societal values around resilience and determination in the face of hardship. It emphasizes the importance of inner strength, external support, and the ability to find hope despite limitations. However, the research is limited by its scope, which focuses solely on content analysis and brief interviews without assessing the long-term impact of the advertisement’s message on audience attitudes or behavior.

Abstract

This study examines the communication strategies implemented by the Regional Revenue Agency in increasing awareness and compliance of restaurant taxpayers in North Lampung Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, with data collection techniques through document studies and field research in the form of interviews. The findings show that the communication strategies used include delivering persuasive messages through direct socialization, utilizing social media, and a service approach that focuses on taxpayers. These strategies aim to increase taxpayer understanding, compliance, and participation in carrying out their obligations. In restaurant tax revenue, there are several aspects of communication that are indicators of taxpayer assessment, namely: 1) Service to taxpayers, 2) Principle of justice, 3) Legal certainty and its enforcement, 4) Transparency in administration, and 5) Restaurant tax collection process. In addition to socialization, the North Lampung Bapenda also carries out counseling and coaching activities for business actors as part of an effort to increase their compliance in paying restaurant taxes.

Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of social media on interpersonal communication by identifying both its positive and negative effects. Social media facilitates individuals to stay connected and communicate despite distance and time, and it also expands social networks that can strengthen interpersonal relationships. However, behind this convenience, social media also poses challenges in maintaining the quality of face-to-face interactions and emotional closeness. Excessive use of social media may reduce direct interactions, which are essential for building deep social bonds. The phenomenon of phubbing—where attention is more focused on digital devices than on people nearby—illustrates the negative impact of social media on social relationships. Additionally, dependence on social media can increase feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and social isolation, which weaken the quality of interpersonal relationships. This study shows that while social media offers convenience and benefits in expanding social connections, unwise usage can lower the quality of interpersonal communication. Therefore, it is important to use social media wisely, maintain a balance between the digital and real world, and enhance digital literacy to support healthy and meaningful social relationships

Abstract

Instagram is one of the communication media that now has an audio-visual style as an additional tool for the campus press in spreading news. As a campus press that is an extension of information to the public, it must take an accurate, precise, and balanced dissemination approach to its targets. Through its visuals and interactive features, LPM Dinamika uses it to interact with its followers. The purpose of this study is to examine the level of effectiveness of @lpmdinamika Instagram accounts as a campus press media in disseminating news. This is based on the ease of access that can be done anywhere and is relevant to daily activities. This study applied a descriptive quantitative research method by distributing questionnaires to 13,100 Instagram followers @lpmdinamika. The research instrument was compiled based on the Likert scale and tested for validity and reliability. The sample size obtained was 100 respondents with a percentage of 73% women and 27% men. Of the 17 statements with an effectiveness rate of 84%, they were in the category of highly effective. Effectiveness is measured through four main indicators, access to information, credibility, quality of information presentation and user satisfaction. The Instagram account @lpmdinamika has made efforts to disseminate effective information judging from the trust of followers in the news by LPM Dinamika. These findings show that @lpmdinamika successfully carried out its role as a campus press medium that not only conveys information but also builds engagement with audiences.

Abstract

The communication pattern between lecturers and students plays an important role in ensuring the effectiveness of the learning and mentoring process, especially in the context of Practical Field Work (PKL) supervision. This study employs a qualitative research method as an interpretive method, based on real phenomena occurring in the field. The findings of this study reveal that the communication patterns used include face-to-face meetings, communication technology, and feedback, with the barriers identified being time constraints, differences in expectations, and non-verbal communication. This research discusses the effectiveness of face-to-face meetings between lecturers and students, which is considered very important and requires more flexible and effective scheduling. Furthermore, the use of technology such as email and WhatsApp has proven effective in maintaining smooth communication, and constructive and detailed feedback from lecturers is highly appreciated by students. Finally, openness and empathy are needed by both lecturers and students to help reduce misunderstandings and improve the quality of guidance. Therefore, it is important for educational institutions to continuously develop and implement communication strategies that support an effective and efficient PKL supervision process.

Abstract

The skincare industry has experienced rapid growth accompanied by excessive promotional claims lacking scientific basis, prompting the need for credible educational content. The TikTok account @dokterdetektif emerged in response to this issue by presenting products reviews based on laboratory test results. This study aims to measure the extent to which the credibility of @dokterdetektif TikTok account influences purchase intention of skincare products. A quantitative research method with a survey approach was used, involving 100 respondents who follow the @dokterdetektif account. The research instrument was developed based on Source Credibility Theory (expertise, trustworthiness, attractiveness) and purchase intention indicators (transactional, preferential, referential, exploratory). The results of a simple linear regression test show that the t value 10.456 > t table 1,984 with a significance level < 0.05, and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.527, indicating that content credibility explains 52,7% of the variation in purchase intention. These findings conclude that credible educational content on TikTok significantly influences purchase intention and has the potential to be an effective digital communication strategy on social media.

Abstract

Along with the progress of digitalization in Indonesia, it encourages business actors or industries to innovate digitally. PT. Jasaraharja is one of the state-owned companies engaged in general insurance, one of which is motor vehicle insurance (JP-Astor). In line with the vision of PT. Jasaraharja Putera, the company wants to become a leading insurance company in Indonesia, therefore the company continues to encourage the development of innovation as part of its efforts to continue to increase competitiveness and provide adaptive services to the needs of modern society. This study aims to determine the marketing communication strategy carried out by PT. Jasaraharja Putera Semarang Branch to market an application-based insurance product called EZurance. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques use interviews and observations. The results of this study determine the marketing communication of PT. Jasaraharja Putera Semarang Branch through direct and indirect marketing communications. The purpose of this study is to ensure that the marketing communications used run effectively and efficiently in accordance with the company's expectations.

Abstract

This research discusses the process of cultural assimilation in an interethnic marriage between Banjar and Javanese ethnicities in Jayengan Village, Solo. This cultural assimilation has occurred since the colonial period due to interethnic migration and intermarriage. The intermingling of Banjar, Javanese and Chinese ethnicities results in a multicultural culture and social identity. The assimilation process between Banjar and Javanese ethnicities in Jayengan Village shows a uniqueness that is influenced by creative economic dynamics, Javanese cultural dominance, and regional characteristics. Using a qualitative approach and purposive sampling technique, the researcher interviewed six couples who have been married for more than five years. The results show that assimilation occurs in various aspects of life, such as language use, eating habits, traditions, parenting, as well as social and religious practices. The dominant Javanese culture in the Jayengan neighborhood affects the Banjar ethnic's adaptation process, but relationships remain harmonious thanks to open and respectful intercultural communication. An inclusive social environment also accelerates cultural acceptance of each other. This study concludes that assimilation in inter-ethnic marriages is not simply a cultural unification, but a dynamic process that shapes multicultural family identity and strengthens social harmony in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

Friendship can be defined as a relationship with deeper emotional closenes by establishing a connection through greater openness and strengthened togetherness. The relationship of friendship is a close bond that is often used as a theme in various forms, such as films, novels, and television series. The form of friendship can be observed through a Japanese television series, the anime Bocchi The Rock!. The purpose of this study on friendship is to understand how friendship is represented in the anime Bocchi The Rock!. The qualitative method was used as the approach in this study. This research also used Roland Barthes semiotic analysis by examming denotation, connotation, and myth meanings as reflected through visualizations of atmosphere, expressions, and dialogues. By using this analysis, it was shown that the friendship represented in Bocchi The Rock! revealed three important aspects of friendship. These three important aspects of friendship. These three aspects were: understanding personality differences through friendship relationships, fulfilling affectional needs through friendship relationships, fulfilling affectional needs through friendship bonds, and enhancing the quality of friendship by providing emotional support.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication has an important role in shaping and maintaining harmonious relationships between children and parents in the family. as social beings we need to communicate. In the context of family, interpersonal communication is not only a means of conveying messages, but as a foundation for forming emotional bonds. This study aims to understand in depth how interpersonal communication contributes to the harmonious relationship between children and parents, as well as how social challenges affect these dynamics. This research uses the literature review method with the PRISMA model. The literature search was conducted with documentation. Documentation was conducted through the Google Scholar database with keywords used including interpersonal communication and family relationships, interpersonal communication and parents and children, communication in the family and emotional closeness. The search process was limited to publications between 2024 and 2025 to ensure compatibility with recent research developments in the field of family communication. At the identification stage, the search yielded nine articles. This study found that healthy interpersonal communication characterized by openness, empathy, and consistent emotional presence can improve children's emotional attachment and ability to establish social relationships. Conversely, communication barriers can lead to misunderstandings, emotional distance, and conflict between family members. Therefore, strengthening adaptive and responsive interpersonal communication patterns is the key to building a harmonious family in the midst of the dynamics of the times.
