Abstract

The guided inquiry learning model, often called guided discovery learning, is an educational approach that emphasizes student engagement and active learning through exploration and problem-solving under the guidance of a teacher as an instructor. Through guided inquiry learning, this research aimed to examine the correlation between students’ communication skills and scientific literacy ability on the environmental pollution sub-concept. The method used in this research was correlational. The participants in this study were the 10th-grade students of a Senior High School in Serang, Banten. The communication students ' communication skills and scientific literacy abilities were measured by observation sheets and essay questions, respectively. The result showed that the communication skills (oral and written) of the students were categorized as good, with a mean value of 82.27. Meanwhile, students' scientific literacy was categorized as moderate, with a mean value of 82.71. Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis showed that there was a very strong correlation between both values, with a correlation coefficient of 0.890. The linear regression test result showed that communication skills contributed to the student's scientific literacy by as much as 79.2%. It is suggested that applying the guided inquiry model could develop communication skills and students' scientific literacy.

Abstract

Biology learning is often considered difficult by students, especially on Fungal Kingdom concepts which involves abstract and complex concepts. This causes low student learning motivation. The study aimed to observe the application of a research-based learning model or Research-Based Learning (RBL) with a practicum method to motivate students in learning Fungal Kingdom concepts in class X. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach, with instruments in the form of observation sheets and written tests. The subjects of the study were students in grades X1, X2, and X3 at one of the public high school in Serang in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. Learning takes place following the RBL steps which include problem identification, hypothesis formulation, practicum implementation, discussion, data analysis, and evaluation. The results showed that 74.28% of students achieved scores above the minimum competion criteria with a class average of 82.78. This shows that the application of the RBL model with a practicum method can motivate students in learning Fungal Kingdom concepts. Students become more actively involved, enthusiastic in making observations, and show better understanding

Abstract

Revision of the Policies, Standards, and Guidelines in the offering of graduate education in the Philippines necessitated curricular innovations particularly in integrating research in graduate courses. This study aimed to introduce and propose STRAMERS Model for utilization in science education by graduate schools in local colleges and state universities in the Philippines. The requirement via this model at the end of a semester is a systematic review output or SYRO which was content analyzed in two stages, i.e. first for its general features as an IMRAD article to evidence feasibility and to describe the raw skills of graduate students in writing a SYRO and second for its features relative to the PRISMA 2020 Updated Guidelines to evidence its adherence and to describe the opportunities for improvement in this and in succeeding SYROs. An acceptability test for both users and expert validators was conducted. Results showed that the SYROs have manifested the adherence to format of academic publications and its basic elements to adhere to latest review models which leads the researcher to the conclusion that the use of SYROs could be an alternative mechanism in integrating research in science graduate courses in response to curricular innovations brought about by CMO No. 15, s. 2019 and recommending the utilization of the STRAMERS Model in implementing this innovation. Further, prospective users rated the Model with 4.4 level of acceptability which means very highly acceptable. Furthermore, expert’s insights on the Model reveals its novelty in the field of publication hence was recommended for adoption among graduate schools in the Philippines because of its unique features as well as ability for continuous syllabus refinement.

Abstract

Assessment is one of the important things to do, especially in differential learning in the independent curriculum currently implemented. Non-cognitive diagnostic assessment is an assessment that is still rarely researched. This research aimed to develop a non-cognitive diagnostic assessment (learning style) at the high school level. The method used in this research is development, or Research and Development (RD). The model used in this research is the ADDIE model. The model consists of five stages, namely the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. This research sample involved all class X students, totaling 30 students. Based on research that has been conducted, shows that non-cognitive diagnostic instruments based on experiential learning theory can be used to determine student learning styles. Based on SHS 22 Tangerang Regency, it is known that students tend to have a learning style. Reflective observational elements have the highest percentage of 76.44% and abstract conceptual elements have the lowest percentage of 71.89%.

Abstract

The advancement of information technology encourages teachers to be able to maximize the use of technological advances with the aim of achieving the standards of the learning process in educational institutions. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the need for the use of learning media on the Google Sites website based on digital literacy in biology material. This research uses qualitative methods. Therefore, this research uses descriptive qualitative research to describe a phenomenon that occurs in the field. The sample in the study was 1 biology teacher at a senior high school in Pandeglang, Indonesia and 62 students of grade 11 and 12 at a senior high school in Pandeglang, Indonesia. The research was conducted in May 2023 at at a senior high school in Pandeglang, Indonesia. In collecting data using techniques such as giving questionnaires to students, teacher interviews, and school observations. Analysis of data that has been obtained using stages consisting of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study found that 53.2% of students found it difficult to understand biology material due to lack of learning and learning media. So this needs analysis aims to find out the development of digital literacy-based google sites web learning media that will be developed as an alignment between the independent curriculum, learning variations, and digital literacy skills.

Abstract

Biology learning that focuses more on conveying material concepts results in less classroom interaction. Each teacher's interaction skills vary, thus creating a different quality of learning environment. An ideal learning environment should stimulate curiosity and encourage active student involvement. To achieve this condition, the interpersonal interaction factor of teachers is an important variable that needs to be examined. This study was conducted with the primary focus of analyzing the relationship between teacher interpersonal interaction and the biology learning environment in Senior High Schools in South Tangerang City. The research method used was a survey with correlational techniques. There were 96 students as samples from seven different schools using the Cluster area sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, specifically the Questionnaire on Teacher Interaction (QTI) and "What Is Happening In This Class?" (WIHIC). The study's results showed a positive and significant relationship between teacher interpersonal interaction and the biology learning environment. Teacher interpersonal interaction accounted for 5.85% of the quality of the biology learning environment, with the remaining quality influenced by other factors. The teacher's interpersonal interaction and the biology learning environment were categorized as moderate, with percentages of 80% and 73%, respectively. It is recommended that teachers develop interpersonal interaction skills and implement more interactive teaching approaches to improve the quality of the biology learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students' collaboration skillsin science learning based on Project Based Learning(PjBL) integrated with STEAM with ecoprinttechniques. The research method used is descriptivequantitative with a population of 6th grade students ofCipocok Jaya 1 Elementary School. Data were obtainedthrough observations of 12 indicators of collaborationskills covering aspects of participation, communication, teamwork, and problem solving, then analyzeddescriptively. The results showed that students' overallcollaboration skills were in the very high category withan average score of 83.3% and 81% of students were in the very good category. This indicates that theimplementation of the PjBL STEAM ecoprint model successfully empowered students' collaboration skills in completing projects involving effective interaction andtask division. The responsibility aspect showed thehighest score (85.88%). This study makes an importantcontribution to the development of 21st century learning that emphasizes collaboration as a corecompetency.
