Abstract

Since the year 1999, the election method applied in Indonesia was representative election. A great change occurred when Law number 32 year 2004 was legalized. As a result, politics in Indonesia also changed. The head of a region is directly elected by all people. During Balinese governor election in 2018, politic communicators start to focus the style of their politic communication by using cultural and religious political jargons to gain Balinese sympathy. Based on the illustration above, this research focuses on discussing about (1) the constructive material of political jargons which uses religion and culture as political communications during Balinese governor election 2018, (2) electors’ perception towards the use of religion and culture as political jargons during Balinese governor election 2018, (3) political communication models using religion and culture during Balinese governor election 2018. The theories applied in analyzing research problems are dramaturgy theory by Erving Goffman. This research employs qualitative method. By applying qualitative method, the data being analyzed is descriptive data in the form of written and verbal words and observable behavior performed by politicians. The study reveals the following results. First, the material of religious and cultural political jargons used by the candidates of Balinese governor are the use of Balinese alphabets, color symbols, and traditional clothes which are used as a tool in political dramaturgy during the campaign. Second, the electors’ perceptions on the use of political jargons as communicative media during Balinese governor elections is a positive thing. The result of the survey shows that the electors are interested in electing the candidate because of the religion and cultural jargons as political communicative media. Third, there are positive and negative outputs for the political communication model.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) analyze the influence of Asta Brata's communication style and leadership style on the performance of the Bendesa Adat in the Buleleng Traditional Village, Buleleng District, Buleleng Regency; (2) describe the influence of communication style on the performance of the Bendesa Adat Buleleng; and (3) describe the influence of Asta Brata's leadership style on the performance of the Bendesa Adat Buleleng. This study uses a quantitative research design that uses the type or form of research that uses statistical calculations carried out through field data collection to Prajuru Desa and community leaders and the method used is the survey method. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire and then analyzed using regression analysis with the aim of determining the causal relationship between one variable and another. The results of the study show that communication style has a significant effect on the performance of the Bendesa Adat. The percentage of the contribution of the partial influence of the communication style variable on the performance of the traditional village leader is 60%. Then the leadership of Asta Brata has a significant effect on the performance of the Bendesa Adat. The percentage of the contribution of the partial influence of the Asta Brata leadership style variable on the performance of the traditional village leader is 30%. And the communication style and leadership style of Asta Brata have a significant effect on the performance of the Bendesa Adat. The percentage contribution of the simultaneous influence between the variables of communication style and Asta Brata's leadership style on the performance of the Bendesa Adat is 68%.

Abstract

Hindu religious instructors are people who carry out their duties as interpreters or provide counseling to Hindus. The extension worker conducts coaching by gathering the community at the village hall, or at the temple in accordance with the target area. With the Covid-19 Pandemic, which forces people to stay at home and the rules issued by the government regarding the prohibition on gathering and gathering large numbers of people, of course, this makes it very difficult for extension workers to carry out their duties to provide guidance to Hindus in their target areas. each. The method used in this research is the interview method and also direct observation of the object of research as well as a study of the existing literature in the Hindu Guidance Section of the Ministry of Religion, Gianyar Regency. This research focuses on the strategies used by extension workers to continue carrying out their duties when the Covid-19 pandemic is hitting almost all countries in the world. The strategy used by the extension workers is through social media such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and through podcast broadcasts that are broadcast on the YouTube account of the Ministry of Religion of Gianyar Regency.

Abstract

Tari Baris Keraras merupakan tari yang unik dan sakral yang hanya terdapat di Pura Taman Ayun Desa Adat Mengwi sesuai dengan aslinya menggunakan sarana yang tradisional. Masyarakat mengakui bahwa selama ini mereka tidak berani untuk tidak mementaskan Tari Baris Keraras ini saat Upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di Pura Taman Ayun karena akan tejadi terjadi peristiwa orang tenggelam di kolam Pura Taman Ayun dan sawah yang mendapat pengairan dari kolam Taman Ayun selalu gagal dan terserang hama. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) bagaimana eksistensi Tari Baris Keraras dalam upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di Pura Taman Ayun Desa Adat Mengwi, Kecamatan Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung? (2) bagaimana Semiotika Komunikasi pada pementasan Tari Baris Keraras dalam upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di Pura Taman Ayun Desa Adat Mengwi, Kecamatan Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung? (3) bagaimana Implikasi pementasan Tari Baris Keraras dalam upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di di Pura Taman Ayun Desa Adat Mengwi, Kecamatan Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung? Dari tiga masalah ini dibantu dengan beberapa konsep dan teori, seperti teori religi, semiotika Roland Barthes,dan interaksionisme simbolik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan sebagai berikut. Pertama, eksistensi tari Baris Keraras dalam upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di Pura Taman Ayun Desa Adat Mengwi, Kecamatan Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung merupakan tradisi yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun dari leluhurnya, setiap pelaksanaan upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di Pura Taman Ayun dilengkapi dengan pementasan Tari Baris Keraras. Kedua, berkenaan dengan pementasan Tari Baris Keraras dalam upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di Pura Taman Ayun Desa Adat Mengwi, Kecamatan Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung memilki beberapa semiotika komunikasi, yaitu (1) Semiotika Pementasan Tari Baris Keraras, (2) Semiotika Upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul, (3) Semiotika Gerak Tari Baris Keraras, dan (4) Semiotika Kostum dan Properti Tari Baris Keraras. Ketiga, pementasan Tari Baris Keraras dalam upacara Aci Tulak Tunggul di di Pura Taman Ayun Desa Adat Mengwi, Kecamatan Mengwi, Kabupaten Badung mengandung implikasi diantaranya : (1) Implikasi Komunikasi, (2) Implikasi Sosial Budaya, (3) Implikasi Sosiologis, (4) Implikasi Tri Hita Karana, (5) Implikasi Keseimbangan Bhuana Agung dan Bhuana Alit, dan (6) Implikasi Ekonomi.

Abstract

The transformation in Balinese bridal make-up and dress, especially regarding the details on the face and head decoration of the bride, is not solely due to the wishes of the bride herself, but because of the demands of the times. The transformation of traditional Balinese bridal make-up and clothing into the form of modified bridal make-up and clothing cannot be separated from the development of the socio-cultural dynamics of the Denpasar community itself. The dynamic itself can be understood as starting from the emergence of a new trend in Balinese life cycle rituals, especially in wedding ceremonies, namely the emergence of pre-wedding culture among young people which began in the 2001s.The implications of the transformation in Balinese bridal make-up and clothing have had various implications for the social life of people all over the world. The changes that occur in society are caused by three main factors, namely; the need for democratization, advances in science and technology and globalization.Implications for social dynamics The development of this kind of globalization will certainly bring about social change. One of the most prominent socio-cultural changes that occurred as a result of the development of this globalization era was the strengthening of the consumptive behavior of the community, including the people of Denpasar.The transformation of values in the field of Balinese make-up and bridal clothing, either at the level of nista, middle or at the level of Payas agung is due to the development of an increasingly modern society. This can not be separated from the existence of a new order in the development of the social system in this country, including the social order of the Denpasar community, which has implications for various aspects of community life, such as in the field of education

Abstract

Dance is one of the arts that is quite easy to find in Bali, because many dances are performed as entertainment and are used in religious ceremonies in Bali. One of the classical dances that is sacred and performed during the tumpek wayang ceremony at Banjar Abiannangka Kaja is the Sang Hyang Legong Dance at the Lasem Keraton . Banjar Abiannangka Kaja believes that the dance performance can bring prosperity and is a way of communicating with Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, who in this case manifests as Ratu Ayu Alit Mas Suci who resides at the Banjar Temple. The formulation of the problem in this article is (1) the existence of the Sang Hyang Legong dance at the Lasem Keraton at the Tumpek wayang ceremony (2) the form of transcendental communication in the Sang Hyang Legong dance performance at the Lasem Keraton (3) the implications of transcendental communication on people's lives after performing the Sang Hyang Legong dance. Keraton Lasem The theories used to analyze the three problem formulations in this study are (1) Theory of Religion, (2) Theory of Extraordinary Powers and (3) Theory of Symbolic Interaction. This study uses a qualitative method. The results of this study indicate several things, such as: First, this Legong dance performance still survives today because it is believed to expel negative forces and can bring prosperity. Second, there are two forms of transcendental communication in this dance performance, namely the type of verbal communication (Pedudusan Sang Hyang Dedari singing, sesontengan and mantra) and the type of nonverbal communication (banten and dance movements). In this type of verbal and non-verbal communication, there is transcendental communication between humans and God from every meaning contained in songs, mantras, offerings and movements, both expressed and implied. Third, the implications for people's lives such as in religious life, social life, culture and the teachings of Tri Hita Karana.

Abstract

An interesting phenomenon at this time in Bali, Hinduism begin to make rituals of cleansing themselves not only as a spiritual activity but also as a life style. This study aims to one of them is the Parisudha vayu ritual, which means cleansing oneself by the wind power of Lord Vayu and is a method of activating oneself to connect with the energy of the universe. A sacred knowledge of Balinese ancestors stored in the natural silence of the village of Tegalmengkeb. This study focuses on the discussion of The process of transcendental communication in the implementation of the Parisudha vayu ritual at Pasraman Kayu Manis Lata mahosadhiforms of transcendental communication in the implementation of the Parisudha vayu ritual at Pasraman Kayu Manis Lata mahosadhi. The research objective is to develop transcendental communication in society. The results of this study indicate several things. First, ). the transcendental communication process goes through 3 stages in the parisudha vayu ritual, including: the preparation stage, namely establishing oneself and preparing the activation equipment, the implementation stage, namely the process of purifying the hands (karosodhana), the bhuwana chakra mudra movement and the activation of parisudha vayu and the final stage of giving three passwords. for the implementation of the next ritual. Second, the form of transcendental communication in the Parisudha vayu ritual is divided into two, namely verbal communication patterns (meaning in prayer in Parisudha vayu ritual) and nonverbal communication patterns (meaning in each movement in the Parisudha vayu ritual), respectively. -Each people practice. Abstract

One of the traditions in Bali that is still preserved today is the Tabuh Rah Pengangon Tradition in Subak Tegan, Traditional Village of Kapal. This tradition is carried out once a year at harvest. In 2019 the world was shocked by the Covid19 virus. The development of the virus is quite massive and the increase in cases in Indonesia has resulted in the government taking preventive measures by implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). With circulars from the Bali provincial government and PHDI, the role of local elites is important in conveying information to the public. This study focuses on discussing the essence and communication strategies used by local elites and Hindus as well as the religious system that took place during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This study uses a qualitative method with an empirical approach. Data collection was done by interview and observation techniques. The results show that the essence of communication used is ritual communication which is carried out as a form of habitual behavior. The communication strategy between local elites and Hindus is divided into 3 stages, namely the planning stage by holding sangkep, the preparation stage by distributing notification letters by kesinoman and the implementation stage of the local elite overseeing the event. During the pandemic, the Tabuh Rah Pengangon tradition process continues, it's just that the implementation is now limited to 25 people, the venue is reduced and the health protocol is still implemented

Abstract

Librarians are an important part of a school or university. Given that the library is a learning center that functions as an agent of social change that improves the quality of life by meeting the information needs of the community, especially students, it is felt necessary to discuss the interpersonal communication of librarians. The success of a communication depends a lot on the ability and insight of the librarian as the person who conveys the message, who is involved in determining the success or failure of a communication. The existence of a library in an educational environment is an important supporting facility for the implementation of the learning process at the institution. Especially in the university environment as one of the supports in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education, research, and community service. This article uses a descriptive qualitative research method that is supported by a literature study. This study finds that the Interpersonal communication is needed in the process to achieve the goals of the librarian in the context of the success of the library in fulfilling its overall function. The aspect of fishing with interpersonal communication is the most important aspect. The librarian's interpersonal communication in serving the visitors at the Hindu State University I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa Denpasar looks good, although there are still obstacles in interpersonal communication, especially in conveying a librarian's message which is sometimes not accepted or cannot be understood by those served in the library. This can be overcome by structured team work and trainings that have been carried out

Abstract

Indonesia is a country consisting of various ethnic groups, cultures, languages, beliefs, customs and various other attributes of difference. It can be said that diversity is the face of the Indonesian nation itself. This is confirmed by the motto of the Indonesian nation, namely Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which has been proclaimed since the time of the Majapahit Kingdom in the 14th century. In another perspective, the face of the Indonesian nation is the potential for enormous division and conflict. One of the most easily ignited potential conflicts is about religious issues. Due to the spirit of spreading religion and defending the truth in an inclusive manner, conflicts in Indonesian society are often triggered because of religious issues. This potential is also often deliberately triggered by certain parties for economic, political, and personal or group interests. Often this conflict in the community is exacerbated by unprofessional, one-sided reporting, or focusing on sensationalism to increase the number of readers or viewers. The commercial side of the media industry must be balanced with the spirit of national insight from the media workers themselves as a means of control in reporting on religious conflicts. National insight itself is a concept or perspective of this nation on itself which aims to build and develop unity and integrity. This spirit of national insight should be rekindled in the community, especially among journalists and the media as a means of conflict management in religious moderation in Indonesia.
