Abstract

Primary school-age children with a good healthy diet will have a good nutritional status. Elementary school-age children are one of the groups that are very prone to malnutrition. Based on a preliminary study conducted at SDN X Palangka Raya on 10 students, there were 5 students (50%) who experienced nutritional problems with 3 categories of thinness and 2 categories of obesity. Therefore, it is important to provide education related to healthy eating patterns early on to children. One of the media that can be used to provide education is posters. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of education using poster media on the knowledge of school-age children about healthy eating patterns. This is a quasi experimental study with one group pretest and posttest design. The subjects in this study were class V students totaling 37 people. The data obtained were statistically analyzed using the Wilcoxon test.  There was an increase in knowledge after being given education with poster media as much as 40,54% including the good category and 54,06% including the sufficient category. Statistical analysis showed that there was an effect of education using poster media on students' knowledge about healthy eating patterns (p = 0,00).

Abstract

This study assessed the impact of consuming watermelon juice at a concentration of 100% on blood pressure among pregnant women. For the duration of one week, thirty healthy pregnant women in good health participated in this quasi-experimental study by consuming 700 mL of 100% watermelon juice daily. Before and after each intervention, a blood sample was taken to ensure normal blood glucose. The evaluation of vascular function encompassed two assessments, including systolic and diastolic pressures. The study employed general linear models (GLM) to analyze the effects of the intervention, specifically focusing on intent-to-treat analyses. Although there was a notable treatment effect on the levels of blood pressure parameters (p < 0.000). The juice intervention yielded a modest yet statistically significant rise in decreasing blood pressure (p < 0.001), while there were no notable changes in other variables. The clinical significance of glucose balance was shown to be negligible. Prior research has provided evidence to substantiate the efficacy of watermelon extracts in enhancing vascular function among individuals. Therefore, we examined the benefit of it among pregnant women to prevent preeclampsia/eclampsia.

Abstract

This descriptive quantitative research evaluates compliance with and perceptions of hand hygiene practices among healthcare workers in hospitals in the city of Prabumulih and in the district of Muara Enim. Employing a simple random sample, 115 healthcare professionals were surveyed using a questionnaire based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) administered via Google Forms. The study primarily focuses on various perceptions including susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, cues to action, and self-efficacy towards hand hygiene. Statistical analyses, both descriptive to outline the general tendencies and inferential to explore the interconnections between different HBM constructs, aim to provide insights into the factors influencing hand hygiene practices. This research underscores the critical gaps between knowledge and actual hand hygiene behavior, particularly evident among healthcare students, highlighting the need for targeted educational strategies to enhance compliance and reduce disease transmission effectively.

Abstract

This study evaluates the implementation of the Indonesian Healthcare Facility Accreditation Agency (LAFKI)'s Person-Centred Care (PCC) principles in healthcare settings. Focusing on patient experiences, the research addresses the effectiveness of PCC practices in enhancing health outcomes and patient satisfaction. The methodology employed involves a quantitative descriptive design, gathering data through questionnaires distributed via Google Forms to participants selected through purposive sampling from hospitals, clinics, and puskesmas. Findings indicate that while a majority of patients felt treated as unique individuals, a significant gap exists in respecting cultural values and beliefs during the decision-making process. The study highlights the need for healthcare providers to improve cultural sensitivity and patient engagement to bridge the ideological and practical implementation of PCC. The research contributes to the empirical literature by identifying barriers to effective PCC implementation and offering evidence-based recommendations for healthcare facilities to enhance their services. This aligns with LAFKI's goal of not just meeting but exceeding standards in providing holistic, person-centred care.
