Abstract

Oral health is a global health issue among children. The study aimed to analyze the effect of health education using crossword puzzles on knowledge about oral health among students at SDN 006 Loa Janan Ilir. The study was a pre-experimental study using an one-group pretest-posttest design. The intervention involved health education using crossword puzzles as a medium. The sample consisted of 79 fifth-grade students selected through total sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed statistically using the Wilcoxon test. The validity of the questionnaire was tested by comparing the calculated r-value with the table r-value. The questionnaire validity test used Cronbach's Alpha value. The research results showed that most respondents were 11 years old (63 students, 79.7%), female (45 students, 57%), had parents with a secondary education level (40 students, 50.6%), and had never received information about KGM (64 students, 81%). The number of students with good knowledge increased by 56 (80.9%). Meanwhile, the number of students with adequate knowledge decreased by 44, and the number of students with insufficient knowledge decreased by 12. Statistical analysis results indicated that there was an effect of the intervention on respondents' knowledge (ρ-value=0.000). Abstract

Menstruation is a natural process of endometrial shedding when fertilization does not occur, but many women experience it accompanied by menstrual pain, also known as dysmenorrhea. Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain during menstruation. Anemia and nutritional status are among the risk factors for dysmenorrhea. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between anemia and nutritional status with the incidence of dysmenorrhea in female students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The research method used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all female students from the 2023 cohort. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a sample size of 88 female students. Anemia data were obtained from measuring hemoglobin levels using the cyanmethemoglobin method, nutritional status from calculating Body Mass Index (BMI), and dysmenorrhea was measured using the WaLIDD questionnaire. The results showed that the respondents were mostly 20 years old (42%), had menarche at the age of ≥ 12 years (68%), had no family history of dysmenorrhea (61%), and had a menstrual duration of 4-7 days (80%). Most respondents experienced anemia (51%) and had a normal nutritional status (43%). The statistical test results showed no significant relationship between anemia (p = 0.258) and nutritional status (p = 0.315) with the incidence of dysmenorrhea in female students at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The suggestion for female students is to maintain a balanced and nutritious diet to reduce menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common diseases among adults and a leading cause of morbidity. This condition makes hypertension a significant health challenge in various countries, including Indonesia. Medication adherence is crucial for hypertensive patients in controlling their blood pressure. Research suggests that medication adherence can be influenced by a person's knowledge. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of hypertension patients and compliance in taking medication in hypertension patients at the Tutukembong Community Health Center, Tanimbar Islands Regency. This research is an analytical observational study using quantitative methods with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study consisted of 97 individuals (hypertension patients), selected using a purposive sampling technique. Test Chi-Square generate valuep0.036, while the contingency coefficient showed a figure of 0.253. These findings indicate a significant relationship with low strength between the level of knowledge and compliance in taking medication in hypertension patients at the Tutukembong Community Health Center, Tanimbar Islands Regency. There is a significant but weak relationship between the level of knowledge of hypertension patients and compliance with taking medication in hypertension patients at the Tutukembong Community Health Center, Tanimbar Islands Regency. These results indicate that increasing knowledge alone is not enough; other approaches such as motivation, family support, regular monitoring, and other factors are needed to improve compliance in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

The Mandalika tourism area in Central Lombok Regency has been designated as a Special Economic Zone (KEK), leading to rapid development through improved facilities and services, which in turn has significantly increased visitor numbers. While this growth has generated positive impacts, it also poses environmental challenges, particularly regarding sanitation. This study aims to examine tourist sanitation behavior in the KEK Mandalika, focusing on waste bin usage and wastewater management. Data were collected using a questionnaire based on a Likert scale, allowing for quantitative assessment and statistical analysis of behavioral variables. The results show that 59% of respondents demonstrated “Good” behavior in waste bin usage, while 41% were categorized as “Less Good.” In terms of wastewater management, 64% of respondents exhibited “Good” behavior, and 36% fell into the “Less Good” category. However, reporting damaged waste bin facilities and participation in wastewater management programs remain insufficient, as these practices are rarely carried out by visitors.

Abstract

Well water is one of the main water sources to meet the needs of the community, especially in rural areas. However, the quality of well water often does not meet health standards because it contains heavy metals such as iron (Fe). Therefore, a simple and environmentally friendly alternative technology is needed that can be utilized by the community. One method used is filtration using natural adsorbent media, one of which is coffee shell charcoal. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of coffee shell charcoal in reducing Fe levels in well water. The research design used was a true-experimental with a one-group pre-test and post-test. Well water samples were tested for Fe levels before and after filtration using coffee shell charcoal with varying media thicknesses (40, 50 & 60 cm) and contact times (30, 45 & 60 minutes). Laboratory analysis was carried out using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method. The results showed that the average percentage of Fe reduction reached 75,36%. Media thickness and contact time significantly affected the effectiveness of Fe reduction with p values of 0,03 and 0,01, respectively (p < 0,05). A medium with a thickness of 60 cm and a contact time of 60 minutes provided the most optimal results, with final Fe levels below the threshold set by Minister of Health Regulation No. 32 of 2017 (≤ 1 mg/L). In conclusion, coffee husk charcoal has proven effective as a simple filtration medium for reducing Fe levels in well water.

Abstract

The National Health Insurance (JKN) is a program of the Indonesian government that, in principle, aims to provide health insurance for the Indonesian people. In Indonesia, people are at risk of catastrophic health payments, namely if health payments exceed 10% of household income. From a government perspective, government spending on health reaches 0.9% of GDP in Indonesia, much lower than Thailand (2.9%), China (2.7%), and Vietnam (2.6%). The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the burden of health costs for families of BPJS Kesehatan Mandiri participants among traders in Passo Market. The research method in this study was quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The results of the study indicate a relationship between income and the burden of health costs for independent BPJS participants with a P value of 0.044, with the average feeling of having a high cost burden being those with incomes <UMR. This study also shows a relationship between Ability to Pay (ATP) and the burden of health costs for independent BPJS participants with a P value of 0.047, with the average being unable to pay and feeling they have a high burden. This study also shows a relationship between the number of family members and the burden of health costs for independent BPJS participants, with the average number of family members being >5. Thus, Passo market traders, most of whom are independent BPJS participants, feel that they have a greater burden in financing their health.
