Abstract

Interactive technology-based learning is an innovative strategy to enhance nursing students' understanding, particularly on multidisciplinary topics such as wetland ecosystems. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using Mentimeter as an interactive learning tool in improving nursing students' knowledge of the benefits and social determinants of wetland ecosystems. The research method used a quasi-experimental design with pretest and posttest design without a control group. The participants were 72 seventh-semester nursing students enrolled in the Wetland Ecosystem course. The intervention was conducted through offline learning sessions that utilized Mentimeter for quizzes, polls, and discussions focused on the benefits and social determinants of wetlands. The results showed an increase in students knowledge following the intervention. The pretest results indicated that 65% of students were in the “good” knowledge category, which increased to 87% in the posttest. The “sufficient” category decreased from 25% to 10%, and the “poor” category dropped from 10% to 4%. Overall, there was a 22% improvement in knowledge, with the majority of students reaching the “good” category. Student responses to the use of Mentimeter reflected a high level of satisfaction. Most students reported that this method enhanced their active participation, increased learning motivation, and made it easier to understand the material through engaging approaches. In conclusion, interactive learning using Mentimeter has proven effective in increasing nursing students' knowledge of the benefits and social determinants related to wetland ecosystems.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of impaired growth and development in children due to chronic malnutrition, characterized by a height-for-age index below -2 SD according to WHO standards. The Kupang City Health Office reported an increase in stunting cases at the Manutapen Health Center from 149 to 194 cases. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the stunting prevention program at the Manutapen Health Center in 2024. A qualitative descriptive method with an evaluative approach was used, employing in-depth interviews as the primary data collection technique. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, which emphasizes the quality, credibility, and richness of information over the quantity of participants (Nitbani, 2019). Findings show that in the input component, human resources meet the required standards; however, insufficient funding and inadequate facilities and infrastructure hinder program optimization. In the process component, planning is carried out by the health office, with clear task distribution among staff. While implementation is running fairly well, the participation of mothers with toddlers remains low, necessitating improved supervision and evaluation mechanisms. As for the output, the program has not yet achieved the targeted reduction in stunting rates. Enhancing budget allocation in line with the number of beneficiaries, providing adequate SDIDTK tools at each posyandu, and ensuring continuous assistance and monitoring for mothers in administering supplementary feeding (PMT) at home are urgently needed.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the advocacy of occupational safety rights through the implementation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at the Medan City Fire and Rescue Service. This study involved firefighters and structural officials as informants, using a semi-structured interview method. The results of the study indicate that the availability of PPE is not evenly distributed, and the supervision of PPE use is less than optimal due to the absence of dedicated K3 officers. Although PPE has been provided according to standards, effective supervision remains a challenge. On the other hand, PPE usage training is integrated into daily operational activities, given the high frequency of fire incidents in Medan. Routine evaluations and learning from other cases play an important role in increasing awareness and compliance of officers in using PPE. This study emphasizes the importance of strict supervision, periodic evaluation, and the active role of leadership in building a strong occupational safety culture. These findings highlight the need for improved PPE distribution, more structured supervision, and continuous training to ensure the optimal safety of firefighters.

Abstract

Caffeine is the most widely consumed psychoactive substance in the world and is produced in a variety of foods, beverages, and medicines. Understanding the effects of caffeine is essential for health care information and consumption, especially on a person's sleep quality. The quality of sleep in Indonesia represents a significant concern shaped by numerous elements, encompassing technology and individual health. Adverse influences, like the intake of caffeine, play a crucial role in determining inadequate sleep quality. The goal of this research is to examine how the consumption of caffeinated drinks impacts the sleep quality of students at UINSU Medan. Quantitative methodology was employed, utilizing a cross-sectional research design. Participants were selected through a simple random sampling method. In total, this research collected data from 150 students. Primary data were gathered via questionnaire. The results of this study show that there is an influence but not significant between the consumption of caffeinated beverages and sleep quality in UINSU Medan students which can be seen from the results of the Chi-Square test obtained a value of p=0.624 (p>0.05), meaning that at alpha 5% it shows that there is no strong influence between the two variables. This is likely influenced by individual factors such as genetic sensitivity to caffeine. In contrast, sleep duration was shown to have a significant influence on sleep quality (P value 0.001), where less sleep duration was associated with poor sleep quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of resistance training on physical fitness parameters, especially on body composition and energy balance. The subjects in this study were students of the Department of Physical Education, Health and Recreation (PEHR), Universitas Negeri Makassar (UNM) who participated in a resistance training program for eight weeks, with a training frequency of three times per week. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a single group pretest-posttest design. Body composition measurements were carried out through analysis of body fat percentage, muscle mass, and body mass index (BMI), while energy balance was calculated based on estimates of daily energy intake and energy expenditure. The results showed a significant increase in muscle mass and a decrease in body fat percentage after resistance training intervention (p < 0.05). In addition, there was an improvement in energy balance, which was indicated by dietary adjustments and increased energy expenditure due to physical activity. These findings indicate that resistance training contributes positively to improving body composition and managing energy balance, which are important indicators of physical fitness. This study recommends the integration of resistance training into student fitness programs as a strategy to improve health and physical performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the role of informed consent, legal protection and health workers in the Regional General Hospital of West Papua Province. The research method used is a quantitative approach. The data analysis used was verification analysis using linear regression analysis. The verification method is used to test the relationship between variables. The sample consisted of 35 respondents who were taken using saturated sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence between the variables of informed consent and legal protection of health workers in medical practice, especially in the context of health services in emergency situations. The results of hypothesis testing show that the application of informed consent serves as a guarantee for patients to understand the medical procedures to be carried out, while protecting health workers from potential lawsuits. Law No. 17 of 2023 provides a clear legal framework regarding the obligation of health workers to obtain consent for medical actions, with the exception of emergencies. This study confirms the importance of effective communication between health workers and patients. Although health workers do not fully understand the principles of informed consent.

Abstract

Childbirth is a natural process, this process, although natural, is often accompanied by quite intense pain, especially in the first stage of labor. Pain in the first stage of labor can have a significant psychological and physical impact on the mother. (1) The Indonesian Hospital Association Data Center explains that 15% of mothers in Indonesia experience labor complications and 21% state that the labor they experience is a painful labor because they feel very painful, while 63% do not receive information about the preparations that must be made to reduce pain during labor. One non-pharmacological approach that can be applied in labor pain management is the effleurage massage technique. Effleurage massage is a light massage technique with stroking movements that can provide relaxation to tense muscles, relieve physical and emotional tension, and reduce pain perception. The application of this technique is expected to have a positive impact on the level of intranatal maternal comfort during the first stage of labor. (2) The purpose of this literature review research is to determine the technique of reducing labor pain. The research method used is a literature review. Article searches were carried out on Google Scholar and Pubmed with the keywords techniques for reducing labor pain. The selected articles are Indonesian and English articles published from 2018 to 2024 in 5 journals that can be accessed in full text in pdf format. The results of the study showed that there was an effect of effleurage massage on labor pain.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the leading causes of death in Indonesia, whose prevalence continues to increase along with changes in lifestyle and the low level of public knowledge about the risk factors of this disease. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of lifestyle and the level of public knowledge on the risk of CHD through a systematic review approach. This study used a qualitative descriptive method by analyzing ten scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025. The results of the review showed that unhealthy lifestyles, such as smoking, consumption of foods high in fat and salt, lack of physical activity, and conditions of hypertension and diabetes, significantly increase the risk of CHD. In addition, people's low understanding of a healthy diet, the importance of exercise, and awareness of avoiding risk factors are major barriers to prevention efforts. This study emphasizes the importance of health education and behavior change as key strategies in reducing the incidence of CHD. By increasing public awareness through nutrition education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, as well as the involvement of health workers and educational institutions, it is hoped that a culture of healthy living can be created from an early age as a long-term preventive measure.
