Abstract

This study aims to identify the composition of fish capture and the number of catches with purse seine at various coordinates in the fisheries management area (WPP) 712, namely the Java sea. The study was carried out on several coordinates in the Java sea waters when the ship was operating the purse seine fishing gear. The data generated were 25 coordinates in the operation of fishing gear with the composition of the catch of 10 species of fish, namely mackerel, banyar fish, black pomfret, tetengkek fish, tongkol fish, ceramic fish, tembang fish, japuh fish, selar fish, and squid. The data analyzed using Anova Two Factor Without Replication, where this analysis is used to test the average difference based on rows (fish species) and columns (coordinates). The results showed that Coordinate 8 is a fishing area that produces the highest number of catches of 6000 kg with the type of fish caught namely 1000 kg of selar fish, 4500 kg of tetengkek fish, 400 kg of black pomfret and mackerel of 100 kg and at coordinate 14 is a fishing area that produces the lowest number of catches of 400 kg, with the types of fish caught are 50 kg black pomfret, 200 kg of tetengkek fish, 100 kg of japuh fish, 20 kg of anchor fish and 30 kg of squid . Anova Two Factor Without Replication analysis results show that there are differences in the average number of catches based on fish species in the fishing ground area

Abstract

This study aimed to examine polyculture of seaweed and vaname shrimp in laboratory scale to prevent V. harveyi infection. Study was conducted with a completely randomized design by 3 treatments and 3 repetations. Application of seaweed were 800 grams (P8), 400 grams (P4) and without seaweed (control). Challenge test was carried out for 10 days with bacteria concentration of 106 cfu/ml/ind in 10 shrimp using aquarium containing 100 liters of sea water. The result showed that polyculture of seaweed and shrimp could not maintain the survival rate of shrimp significantly but could suppress the population of V. harveyi in waters. Survival rate respectively from control, P4 and P8 were 60.0%, 73.3%, 76.7%. Population of bacteria in treatment was lower than control on 10th days after seaweed stocking until challenge test. Aplication of seaweed could also accelerate shrimp recovery time from bacterial infections observed in clinical symptoms that return to normal on 9th days after challenge test. Total hemocyte count (THC) were better observed in shrimp cultured seaweed on 10th days after challenge test, and differential hemocytes count (DHC) were better on 5th days after challenge test. Polyculture of seaweed and shrimp has potential to improve shrimp health status.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the type and distribution of fish consumption target in Teluk Majene Prov, west Sulawesi. Coral reef conditions are recorded using segment transect method or Point Intersept Transect (PIT). The transek is stretched according to the predetermined point then a diver performs a dive along the transek 50 meters and recorded on waterproof paper substrates or bentos that are just below the transek line. While the interval distance (point) recording substrates or bentos is every 50 cm ( Hill and Wilkinson, 2004). The categories that observe each point 0.5 m are Hard Coral (HC), Soft Coral (SC), Rubble (R), Dead Coral (DC), Dead Coral Algae (DCA), and Sand (S). The abundance of target fish inhabiting coral reef ecosystems is recorded using the direct census method (Visual Census Method) (English et al.,1994), technically this data collection is done by belt transek method.. The results of this study show that there are 28 types of coral fish that are an important target or consumption in Majene Bay. The most fish species are of the Caesio sp type. As for its distribution, the target fish is found throughout the coral reef ecosystem of Majene Bay. The most distribution is at the location of station 6 precisely in Pasarang Neighborhood, Totoli Village.

Abstract

The research objective was to determine the effect of the edible coating of crab chitosan on the sensory quality of Betawi dodol. The process of making crab chitosan edible coating starts from mixing chitosan, 1% acetic acid, and glycerol, immersing dodol into edible coating solution, and storage. Edible coating with a concentration of 4% chitosan (K3) can maintain appearance and texture values until day 12 and aroma until day 16, longer than K0 and K1 treatments can only maintain appearance and texture values until day 4 and aroma until the 8th day and K2 which can maintain the appearance and texture values until the 8th day and the aroma until the 12th day and there is no difference in the taste values in the three treatments. Based on the Friedman test, the parameters of appearance, aroma, and texture have a sig. <0.05 so that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected, which means that the difference in chitosan concentration has a significant effect. Meanwhile, the Friedman taste test has a sig.> 0.05 so that H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected, which means that the difference in chitosan concentration does not have a significant effect.
