Abstract

The requirements for kyai leadership at Islamic boarding schools are as follows: (1) Kyai at Islamic boarding schools have a good personality, and it is hoped that the kyai in leading his students at Islamic boarding schools can be honest, trustworthy, convey religious teachings, and be smart in leading students, (2) Kyai at Islamic boarding schools have knowledge and knowledge, that is, a leader must have sufficient ability, broad insight, and know the field he leads, (3) Kyai at Islamic boarding schools are able and willing with a sincere heart to do the tasks assigned to them. carried out, for example being able to educate, guide and teach his students at Islamic boarding schools well, diligently, patiently and sincerely in his heart, (4) Kyai at Islamic boarding schools have fair, honest and open characteristics, which means a leader must be able to accept ideas that come from its members. For example, receiving good suggestions from his subordinates, namely from the teachers at his Islamic boarding school, (5) Kyai at Islamic boarding schools must be able to foster cooperation and solidarity. A kyai as a leader is also expected to be able to grow his members to have commendable qualities such as honesty, keeping promises, trustworthiness, and courtesy. Meanwhile, the leadership role of the kyai in Islamic boarding schools includes: 1). As executor, 2) As person in charge, 3) As evaluator, 4) As mediator, 5) As protector. Abstract

In the midst of the thriving research on pesantren, almost none of the research has been studied using a bibliometric approach. This was in contrast to bibliometric studies toward researches in other fields. To fill this gap, this research was carried out with a specific purpose to determine the trend of research on the theme of pesantren in theses produced by students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah IAI Al-Qolam Malang for seven years, from 2015 to 2022. Bibliometric method was conducted here to trace the rate of productivitiy, the map of themes, the map of supervision, and the types of research in those theses. The result of this research showed that there are 197 pesantren-themed theses produced by the students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah IAI Al-Qolam Malang in the above mentioned periode. From that amount, there were five themes, that is ‘kiai’ (8,63%), ‘mosque’ (8,12%), ‘santri’ (27,92%), ‘pondok’ (30,96%), and ‘teaching religious sciences’ (24,37%). All those themes were spread to 40 supervisors. The most frequent type of research used by the studests to study pesantren was qualitative one (89,34%), followed by quatitative type of research (8,12%), then Class Action Research (1,52%), and finally mixed method and Research & Development (each 0,51%). Abstract

Education aims to (1) develop morally good and correct behavior, (2) cultivate autonomous reflection skills, (3) internalize moral values and norms in facing concrete life situations, (4) adopt universal principles and life values as a foundation for moral development in decision-making, and (5) make righteous, moral, and wise decisions. The purpose of this research is to understand the concept of education contained in the book "Siraj Al Thalibin". This research is a library research. The research type is qualitative descriptive using the Content Analysis method. The data sources include: (a) Primary sources, namely the book "Siraj Al Thalibin" by Sheikh Ihsan Bin Sheikh Dahlan. (b) Secondary data sources include journals, relevant books, etc. The results of this study indicate that Islamic education is not merely theoretical but must be applied in daily life. Among them are: (1) the habit of reciting basmalah and hamdalah, (2) the importance of seeking knowledge, (3) emulating the beloved of Allah SWT, (4) constantly remembering Allah SWT, (5) performing worship properly, (6) refraining from indulging in desires, (7) obedience, reliance, patience, contentment, and sincerity, and (8) constantly repenting to Allah SWT. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the role of teachers in improving the quality of Qur'an recitation at Majlis Tarbiyatul Qur'an PP. Miftahul Ulum Atthohirin Gondanglegi Kulon, Gondanglegi sub-district, Malang regency. Additionally, the study aims to investigate the impact of the teachers' role on the students (santri) of PP Miftahul Ulum Atthohirin. This research adopts a field research approach and uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection is conducted through interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data validity is ensured through triangulation of data sources, which involves using various sources to obtain information, and triangulation of methods by comparing data from interviews, observations, and documentation. The data is analyzed through several steps, including data reduction, data display, and verification, leading to drawing conclusions. The research findings indicate that the role of teachers in improving the quality of Quranic recitation is crucial in nurturing students to become better readers of the Qur'an. Teachers play a pivotal role in the Quranic education process, as they are responsible for producing students who are skilled in reading the Qur'an. Abstract

Looking at the typology of pesantren, curriculum structure and direction of pesantren education, the model for strengthening nationalism is built through three stages, namely: First, input gain. This stage consists of at least three stages, namely: Stage one, scientific transmission which is carried out in three ways: (a) Teaching selected yellow books. (b) Ijab qabul guardian of students. (c) The concept of “barakah”. Stage two, transmission of activity. This stage is implemented in certain activity events. Stage three, religious transmission, such as worship (ubudiyyah), transactional practices (mu'amalah), politics (siyasa). Second, strengthening the process of nationalism in Islamic boarding schools. The strengthening process is in the form of grounding the values of tolerance (at-tasammuh), the values of balance (at-tawazun), and the values of moderation (tawasuth). This is reflected in the contents of the curriculum being taught, such as the yellow book. Debate over issues with nuances of difference (khilafiyah) with a variety of reasons makes the students understand more that differences are real. Third, strengthening the output of nationalism in Islamic boarding schools is at least a strengthening model by maintaining and overseeing Islamic boarding school graduates through communication and interaction with the kyai and their alma mater. So that pesantren graduates become alumni and individuals who are Islamic, humane, tolerant, civilized, and loving. Keywords: Pesantren, Nationalism, Strengthening Input, Process, Output

Abstract

Pesantren is the oldest Islamic educational institution in Indonesia which still has a big role in the success of Islamic education programs. However, it is unfortunate that not all pesantren are able to adapt to the times. So that it makes Islamic education tends to be left behind. But on the other hand, not a few pesantren have been able to adapt very well to the times, this is because the pesantren has implemented holistic education in its curriculum. This research is a qualitative research based on literature review. The purpose of this study is to find the concept of holistic education in Islamic boarding schools and its correlation with the thinking of Imam al-Ghazali. The results of this study found that the concept of Islamic holistic education in Islamic boarding schools is in line with the thinking of Imam al-Ghazali which aims to form a complete human being. Abstract

Learning in pesantren can be classified into 4 (four) levels. Within each of these levels the fields of study and the basis for learning the kitab kuning are different. At elementary level pesantren, the field of study is focused on procedures for reading the Qur'an and daily prayers as well as reading in prayer. Learning at this level is given on a skill-based basis. In pesantren at secondary level I, learning is focused on the study of Arabic grammar (nahwu and sharraf). Similar to the previous level, in this phase learning is carried out on a skill-based basis. At secondary level II pesantren, the learning material provided is a study of the kitab kuning across fields. Learning at this level is carried out based on content understanding. At high-level pesantren, students are given more specific subject matter. Learning at this level is in-depth and based on constructivism where students are encouraged to think critically and can understand the epistemological conceptual framework of the author of the kitab kuning. Abstract

This article aims to explore the role of Pondok Pesantren Attanwir Bojonegoro in absorbing labor in the Industry 4.0 era. The study focuses on the transformation of Pondok Pesantren Attanwir from a traditional institution to a modern institution, and the efforts made by the institution to develop the creativity of its students. The article also discusses the challenges and prospects of pesantren in character education in the Industry 4.0 era. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research findings show that Pondok Pesantren Attanwir has played an important role in absorbing the workforce in the Industry 4.0 era by equipping its students with the necessary skills and knowledge to adapt to the ever-changing job market. Abstract

The success of learning can be achieved with the existence of an appropriate learning model. The learning model becomes more important than the material it self. The purpose of this study determined the implementation of the deliberation in learning fiqh at Ma'had 'Aly Lirboyo Kediri, as well as to determine the supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of the deliberation in learning fiqh at Ma'had 'Aly Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo Kediri. This paper is the result of qualitative research using interviews, observation, documentation. Data analysis carried out using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The approach used phenomenological approach. The data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative analysis with a phenomenological approach. Based on the results of research and data analysis, obtained 2 (two) types of deliberation models in learning fiqh at Ma'had 'Aly Pondok Pesantren Lirboyo Kediri; namely: first, group deliberation; and second, joint deliberation. Abstract

Especially in relation to the scientific structure of Islamic boarding schools, knowledge related to Arabic, such as sharaf, nahwu and other tool knowledge, knowledge related to sharia, such as fiqh, both regarding worship (ubudiyah) and transactions (mu'amalat), knowledge that related to the Al-Qur'an along with knowledge about the causes of the revelation of verses (asbab al-nuzul), correlation between verses, verses and hadith, tafsir-tafsir, and others (ulum al-Qur'an), knowledge of hadith along with knowledge about the causes of the existence of hadith (asbab al-wurud), etc. (mustalah al-hadith), knowledge related to logic (ilmu al-mantiq), knowledge related to the purification of the soul (tazkiyah al-nafs) which is framed in knowledge about etiquette (tashawwuf), knowledge that discusses the power and oneness of God (tauhid). The values built by Islamic boarding schools can be categorized into: (1) Essential values including: the value of honesty (al-shidq), the value of spirituality (al-ibadah), the value of struggle (al-jihad), the value of tolerance (al-tasamuh), the value of independence (al-i'timad ala al-nafs), the value of sincerity (al-ikhlas), example (uswah hasanah). (2) Instrumental values which include: wisdom, freedom to be guided, self-government, togetherness (collectivism). So it is not surprising that Islamic boarding schools are considered as an education system that can play an empowerment role in strengthening civil society (mobilization of civil society forces) maximally and effectively.
