Abstract

Compliance with patient safety procedures is a crucial component in improving the quality of hospital services. This study aims to analyze the influence of work discipline and work environment on healthcare workers’ compliance with patient safety procedures at RSUD Beriman Balikpapan. The research used a quantitative method with a descriptive-verificative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 207 healthcare worker respondents and analyzed using multiple linear regression with validity, reliability, normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests. The results showed that work discipline and work environment variables had a simultaneous and significant effect on compliance with patient safety procedures. Partially, work discipline had a significant influence with a greater contribution compared to the work environment. The coefficient of determination indicated that these two variables explained 52.2% of the compliance with patient safety procedures, while the remaining percentage was influenced by other variables not examined in this study, such as work culture, motivation, and workload. These findings suggest that improving discipline and enhancing the work environment can be effective strategies to encourage healthcare workers to comply with patient safety procedures. Other factors beyond this study, such as organizational culture or workload, are also suspected to influence the level of compliance.

Abstract

One of the key efforts undertaken by hospitals to provide high-quality healthcare services, both individually and comprehensively, including outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services is improving the quality of medical record management. Properly completed and well-organized medical records play a crucial role as a guideline in delivering healthcare services and serve as a source of information that supports medical research. Additionally, medical records function as a basis for assessing healthcare service performance and hold medico-legal significance. Medical records are considered to be of high quality when they meet several criteria, including completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legal aspects. However, based on observations, several medical record documents in the Outpatient Emergency Department of RSIA Rinova Intan Bekasi were found to be incomplete, particularly in terms of identification, important reports, authentication, and documentation. This study employs the Mixed Method Explanatory approach, in which a quantitative analysis is followed by a qualitative examination to gain a deeper understanding of the findings. The quantitative approach involves 104 patient samples who sought treatment at the Outpatient Emergency Department of RSIA Rinova Intan Bekasi from February to March 2025, while the qualitative approach includes 7 informants, consisting of medical personnel and medical record officers. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and interviews. Thus, this study aims to analyze the influence of identification, important reports, authentication, and documentation on the accuracy of medical records in the Outpatient Emergency Department of RSIA Rinova Intan Bekasi. The findings of this research are expected to provide insights into the factors affecting the quality of medical records and serve as a foundation for enhancing the efficiency of medical record-keeping systems in hospitals.

Abstract

Pekanbaru Medical Center Hospital has partnered with BPJS Health since 2014, offering outpatient, inpatient, and emergency services. However, the hospital has not fully met patient expectations, especially regarding the speed and accuracy of administrative services, which has affected its public image. This study aims to analyze the implementation, challenges, and improvement strategies of administrative services for BPJS patients. Conducted in Sail District, Pekanbaru City, this qualitative case study used purposive sampling for BPJS patients and snowball sampling for other stakeholders, including all management levels and BPJS Health representatives. Data analysis involved data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that while the administrative service system is fairly effective, it faces challenges such as inactive BPJS membership, long registration queues, data mismatches between systems, and limited patient understanding. To enhance service quality, the hospital must optimize digitalization, train administrative personnel, and upgrade support facilities to meet patient needs more effectively.

Abstract

The Emergency Department (ED) is a critical unit within hospitals, serving as the frontline for handling patients in emergency and critical conditions. The success of ED services depends not only on the quality of medical actions but also on patient satisfaction and their intention to revisit. This study aims to analyze the influence of socioeconomic level and patient satisfaction on patients' revisit intention to the ED of Pradipa Medika Hospital. This research uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach involving 229 respondents selected through probability sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that socioeconomic level and patient satisfaction significantly affect patients' revisit intention. Patient satisfaction, particularly in the dimensions of reliability, assurance, tangibles, empathy, and responsiveness, is the main determinant driving patient loyalty to ED services. The study emphasizes the importance of improving hospital service quality by considering patients' socioeconomic aspects as a strategy to strengthen loyalty and patient retention.

Abstract

Introduction: Patient safety culture is a vital element in healthcare systems that aims to minimize incident risks and improve service quality. Amanah Jatisari Clinic, as a primary healthcare facility preparing for accreditation, requires an evaluation of the implementation of safety culture by medical personnel. Methods: This study applied a descriptive qualitative method with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participatory observations, and document analysis involving 12 healthcare workers including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and midwives. The research instrument was based on the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC), and data were analyzed using descriptive and SWOT approaches. Results: The findings indicated that healthcare workers had a generally good perception of patient safety culture, particularly in openness and teamwork dimensions. However, the implementation of reporting and just culture was still suboptimal. Supporting factors included managerial commitment, internal training, and effective communication. Barriers involved staff shortages, high workload, and fear of sanctions. Discussion: SWOT analysis led to several strategic recommendations such as enhancing staff-awareness-based training, developing non-punitive reporting systems, and implementing consistent managerial policies. These results are expected to serve as a basis for continuous improvement of the patient safety culture system in primary healthcare services.
