Abstract

Children are the nation's golden generation who will become the cornerstone of a country to be successful or not. During the developmental period of children, it is important for them to gain self-confidence. Good self-confidence will bring children to be able to explore something without feeling ashamed, insecure, or afraid. During the implementation of PKL II conducted by the writer at the Yayasan Panti Asuhan Sosial Bina Mandiri, Medan, the writer found a problem in a group of orphanage children. Confidence is their main problem, this is based on the results of observations of researchers while carrying out work practices. The author hereby seeks to help children to be able to grow their self-confidence, by using the group work method as an approach and in handling it the author applies role playing to encourage children to have self-confidence. The author believes that role play is effective for exploring and bringing back children's self-confidence. The author hopes that this role play can be one of the things that can be done as a way of solving their problems.

Abstract

In this era of globalization, the development of technology and information and communication is growing very rapidly and also provides many benefits. This indicates that globalization in Indonesian society has become a part of life. The development of information and communication technology also affects all aspects of life, this is felt by the increasing emergence of increasingly sophisticated information and communication equipment. One of the bad effects of the acceleration of globalization is hoax news. The government continues to socialize how to respond to hoax news that appears on social media. Through this Field Work Practice activity, the practitioner provides assistance by educating about hoax news on social media and how to match the truth and its sources to the community in Sidodadi Village, West Kisaran City District. The process of providing this assistance was also carried out in the Field Work Practice II mini project, using the groupwork method through the general or general intervention stage consisting of Assessment, Program Planning, Intervention, Program Evaluation, Monitoring and Termination.

Abstract

Drug abuse (Narcotics, Psychotropics and Addictive Substances) is a case that is increasing day by day both in quantity and quality. This is a problem that cannot be taken lightly because most drug cases are found in young people, the next generation of the nation. This drug abuse certainly results in drug dependence, which according to WHO is defined as a condition of periodic or chronic intoxication resulting from the repeated use of drugs, either naturally or synthetically. The high number of cases of drug threats can be caused by a lack of strategies in self-management, wrong expectations and cognition, causing a deficiency in taking steps to control one's emotions and a person's inability to stand up in the midst of the many difficulties they face. This mini-project research aims to find out about the social welfare service system for drug users at the BI LRPPN Rehabilitation Institution. The method used in this practice uses the Case Work Method for treatment based on Therapeutic Community (TC) which was popularized by Skidmore. This method is commonly used in rehabilitation institutions and is considered effective in the recovery process for residents. This is because the TC concept itself offers health-based, spiritual, and psychological services that include cognitive and behavioral aspects. The TC method also hones every resident to continue to be responsible, both to themselves, the group and the surrounding environment.

Abstract

Childhood is an important period in human life. Because it is during this period that children have strong memories so that they can easily learn and develop from what children see and hear. From an early age, children should be equipped with basic learning so that when they are anywhere, children already have the basic key of knowledge, especially in terms of communicating. Communication is the process of conveying messages from one person to another or to other groups. Good communication is used in the correct, good and appropriate language. Someone who is good at communicating will be easily placed anywhere and won’t get difficulties because they already have mastered the language and how to communicate well. In this discussion, the main subject is the children of overseas countries. As a nomad, the basic key that must be grasped is about language. The more precise language is English because English is a universal language which is used in every country as a communication guide. In fact, there are still many children who haven’t mastered English well so they often get difficulty communicating. The basic problem is due to a lack of knowledge of vocabulary and listening skills. This is causes the child can’t be respond quickly to what the other person is saying, and cannot answer because of the lack of vocabulary. So to facilitate and help children, basic Vocabulary and Listening training activities are carried out. This learning and training is aimed at and carried out for several children of Indonesian citizens whose are in the Philippines. Most of them are forced to be taken overseas by their parents to work because of the lack of income in Indonesia so that they cannot reach their home needs. The purpose of this training would be help the children communicate with the local citizens.

Abstract

This training activity provides information and knowledge to students about qualitative research methodology in doing their final project, thesis, and the task of writing articles that are being programmed. The method of implementing this activity uses the lecture and discussion (Q&A method). This activity was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, via Zoom Meeting and YouTube Live Streaming. Participants consist of 55 students majoring in S1 Sharia Economics from ITB AAS Indonesia. The lecturer as the speaker presents material about qualitative research methods including the definition, characteristics, and data collection methods such as primary data (interview, questionnaire, and observation) and secondary sources (document), then data validation (triangulation) and data analysis methods (data reduction, data display, and conclusion).  The lecturer as a speaker also provides an opportunity for participants (students) to ask questions in the raise hands, Zoom chat column, or live YouTube chat. These Q&A answers show the participants’ activeness in participating in the activity and the enthusiasm of the activity participants in asking the lecturer (speaker) regarding the qualitative research method material that has been explained. The follow-up of this activity is holding similar activities that focus more on implementing data analysis in the findings and discussion section.

Abstract

One of the problems faced by the younger generation today is the problem of discipline. The discipline attitude of children is still far from ideal, such as they do not care about waste, put the clothes in bad ways, often getting up late in the morning, and other problems. Discipline problems occur in almost all parenting conditions. Discipline problems occur in direct parenting by parents, also occur in day care, including in orphanage care. Based on these problems, we want to be actively involved in growing the discipline of children, especially in orphanages. We carry out an educational implementation pattern to develop the discipline attitude of the orphanage children. The method of playing while learning will make children more enthusiastic about participating in the learning process. Playing while learning activities also have the virtue of increasing children's interest as a first step in improving discipline. The stages in this service go through three stages, namely pre-service in the form of observations and interviews related to the problems that occur. The second stage is the implementation of community service in the form of counseling and the implementation of educational games that can improve children's discipline. Furthermore, the third stage is post-service by evaluating the level of discipline of the orphanage children. Based on the activities carried out at the orphanage, the children took part in the program well. As for the results of periodic evaluations conducted, educational activities in improving children's discipline are starting to show positive developments. This is reflected in the attitude of the orphanage children who have started caring to waste, put the clothes in the right place, and getting up early.

Abstract

Teachers and students' interest in writing at SMAN 1 Narmada needs to be increased. This can be seen from the lack of scientific work produced by teachers and students from SMAN 1 Narmada. The holding of training on writing scientific papers at SMAN 1 Narmada aims to increase the interest and knowledge of teachers and students in writing scientific papers at the school and it is also hoped that it will not only have an impact on the school itself but also have an impact on impact schools, namely SMAN 2 Narmada and SMAN 1 Lingsar . The methods used in this training are lecture, question and answer and practice methods. The number of participants in this training was 50 people consisting of Mataram University students and teachers along with students from SMAN 1 Narmada, SMAN 2 Narmada and SMAN 1 Lingsar. This training was able to foster an interest in writing for teachers and students as evidenced by the creation of several works by the participants. Approximately 34% of participants consisting of teachers and students succeeded in drafting their scientific papers with very satisfactory review results.

Abstract

This article discusses the methods used by Rumah Yatim social workers in providing services to children in Medan Orphanage.The existence of social workers in an orphanage has a significant meaning for the process of solving problems faced by orphaned children. Social assistance is a strategy that determines the success of community empowerment. Mentoring is also an activity that means coaching, teaching, directing which connotes mastering, controlling, and controlling. The right method will be the initial stage of solving the problems complained by children and the level of efficiency of the method. Orphanage children need a social worker figure as a substitute for the role of parents who should be a place to share problems and a place to get advice as a solution to solve problems. The process of orphanage children in solving problems on their own takes quite a long time considering their immature age. The purpose of this writing is as a result of project base learning activities at the Medan Orphanage Institute. The methods used are observation and interviews in the process of collecting data related to social worker methods. Existing literature sources are also used to support the analysis of the discussion.

Abstract

This activity is motivated by technological developments that demand online activities, so micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) must have a strategy for developing their business, especially starting to improve financial management to see the development and growth of their business in each period. The PKM team conducts training on making financial reports using Google Sheets which provides knowledge and understanding to MSMEs in the city of Padang, so they can manage finances properly. The method used in this training is the lecture method, in which material exposure and training methods are given, where participants are asked to practice preparing their business financial reports, as well as discussion methods, participants and resource persons discuss in solving the problems they face. The results of this activity 1) Participants can find out that their business is included in the small / micro / prevent category from the turnover they get; 2) Participants know that the complete financial statements can help analyze their financial performance, because so far they only record the results of their business with a list of money in and money out books only; 3) Participants gain new knowledge that input using the MS. Excel application can be displayed and controlled online through Google Sheets media, especially if not at the place of business. This activity can make a positive contribution to participants by 80% to their business development.

Abstract

Confidence is a belief in yourself so that you are able to deal with various situations, usually self-confidence has a lot to do with one's relationships with other people. Each individual has a different level of self-confidence, it is influenced by several factors. It's not uncommon for someone to have doubts about their own abilities so they can't express themselves well. In an effort to increase children's confidence in KOPA NGOs by providing assistance through a mini project in the implementation of PKL II, using the groupwork method at the mezzo intervention level through the general intervention stage consisting of Engagement, Intake, Contract; Assessment; Planning/Planning; Intervention; Evaluation; and Termination. This groupwork consists of five children who are still in elementary school. The focus in solving clients' problems is the application of the CAMB (Story, Appreciation, Motivation, Get used to) method to assist clients in building their self-confidence. The aim of this program was stated to be achieved, this can be seen by increasing the confidence of the clients after getting help.
